  • In this episode we change over the boiler, fit the wall between the corridor and new kitchen, dab some boards on the walls and finally fit the bi fold doors

    I always enjoy this part of a build, when you start to close it in and all the bare walls disappear.

    Great attention to detail. All that plastic heating pipe and speedfit didn't fill me with joy though. thanks for sharing the vid

    Loved every minute of this series. Great workmanship and humour. Out of interest, why do you call mortar compo?

    • @mrabuilders6723
      @mrabuilders6723  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure where it originates from but there are many definitions on the internet, its short for composition mortar 🤷

    Remember the days when plumbers used to put pies in straight lines...

    • @mrabuilders6723
      @mrabuilders6723  ปีที่แล้ว

      Can’t really disagree with that as I’m from those days and there is very satisfying to see copper pipe work finished and clipped but can you also remember that it used to take a plumber days to do a first fix and be a lot more expansive. If for no other reason it’s a lot safer and less stressful using plastic pipe as they are no longer using bare flames in a property. 👍🏻

  • @n2obob

    I have not seen a single piece of pipe insulation on any pipework that has been installed yet.Building regulations state all pipework in an unheated area must be insulated, that includes heating and hot and cold feeds to taps etc.

    Really enjoying the content - as an armchair expert though I'm surprised there was no metal capping on the power cables?

    • @m0aze611
      @m0aze611 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t need if plasterboard is used, capping used to protect cables from trowel when applying browning plaster. Fun these regs !!! I used to think the same and was put right a few years ago.

    Am I ‘blind’? I never saw any bi-fold door installed - the only reason I was watching this video. I hate ‘false’ titles.

    • @mrabuilders6723
      @mrabuilders6723  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dominique I’m sorry your not happy with this episode but it does say ‘fitted’ and not ‘fitting’ so the title is correct in it’s description. As I explained in the video it wasn’t practical to film the fitting of them. Thanks for watching.

    Can you lay the visqueen after the walls and roof is up and stick it along the walls or does it need to go on before the walls go up?

  • @rossl2544
    @rossl2544 ปีที่แล้ว

    When were you planning on insulating the pipes ?

  • @SBNewMe
    @SBNewMe ปีที่แล้ว

    Plastic pipes are way easier but there is something sad about the demise of right-angles in plumbing and electrics today.

  • @bernieclark7143
    @bernieclark7143 ปีที่แล้ว

    Plastic plumbing, it will leak at some point and no insulation

    Had our extension plastered this past week, taken a few days now to dry out
    The dot and dab sounds a bit hollow though when you tap on it
    Should I stop or worry?
    Thanks

    • @KingstonHomeMaintenance
      @KingstonHomeMaintenance ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course it's hollow, there is a void between wall and board, the adhesive is placed in dabs not the entire wall.

    • @therealdojj
      @therealdojj ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KingstonHomeMaintenance well yes, I realise that, it just sounds a bit "fragile" if you know what I mean

    • @KingstonHomeMaintenance
      @KingstonHomeMaintenance ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mostly My MK3 Mondeo only you will be able to tell, how far apart are the dabs? Does the board flex when you push on it?

    • @therealdojj
      @therealdojj ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KingstonHomeMaintenance it's certainly solid, but around the light switches it feels just a little bit I don't know
      Maybe once the switches have been fitted it will be fine, I really don't know as it's the only bit of the house that is not solid brick

    • @KingstonHomeMaintenance
      @KingstonHomeMaintenance ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@therealdojj ah right I get it now, seems the builder didn't put adhesive around the back box, I always do this, take switch off, see if you can knock out a couple of the access points for cable and get some expanding foam adhesive to spray behind the board, don't go mad though

  • @jrsuk1170

    You got it right the first time Rich, it's plumber. The primary purpose of which is provide the safe removal of human excrement from domestic dwellings to a processing plant.
    Gas Engineer = pretentious plumber with a gas ticket.
