Completely agree man - at first I wasn’t a fan of the blue cgc label but it really grew on me because it was unique, it now resembles a run of the mill generic grading company.
I agree with every single point you make here, and I hope CGC sees this video. If they feel they need to update the design they should take a minor approach to the style while keeping with the format overall. Big mistake if they go ahead with all these generic changes.
What bugs me is that the changes does really give off that "loss of identity" feel. Keeping some of that blue would have been good. Personally though I had a number of blue cards I really wanted to grade but the abruptness of the changes didn't give me time to source some good copies. Luckily I was able to send some cards I already had (Gold Star Mew in a blue slab is a must).
I like your perspective on this, and I agree with dropping the subgrades. I didn't always love the blue colour as it didn't always match every card, but I respected the fact that they had something unique to their identity and to the market. They lost their point of difference in the market by updating to this generic label, IMO.
@@DunklesNuke100%, like Strictly said that was their initial advantage over PSA. They state it’s cuz people don’t choose it anymore when submitting, but that’s more cuz the price is ridiculous at $15 for subgrades. It’s legit like “buy one for the price of 2” considering that’s how much it costs for a bulk submission card to begin with.
I think to increase their appeal, the gem mint 10 should copy the pristine 10 in design but have the background in light gray and the 10 printed in textured shiny silver. I am sure it will help to improve their business
Hey, do you think you will reslab old ones ? Even if they r not 9,9.5s ? I have majority of mine collection in cgc slabs and i am from europe, so with taxes it is not "just 5$" for me xd, do you think old or new slabs would make any premium above other since they litteraly changed their cert numbers on site to be "higher grade"
The gray gradient is too dark on the bottom left. Makes it look like the label is dirty. Not a fan of the new slab. Highly interested in that CGC and PSA crossover. Looking forward to your next video
I don't collect or grade with CGC but I have a couple of the blue slabs. I'm sorry but the new slabs look generic and awful. They're was absolutely no reason to change the formula, especially since they started pumping out "pristine 10s". All these grading companies have this mindset of, "What were doing works but how can we ruin it?"
The case and label looks cheap though, also why did they have to go with white it looks sooo plain and really does look like one of those start up grading companies. Not sure why they took subgrades out aswell maybe to save money and time I guess. Can't lie not a fan at all
Never liked the labels when it was just on sports cards tbh, and hate it even more now that it’s with TCGs too. They just look so plain, literally just black and white. One of my issues was PSA is that it’s also very bland but at least has a bit of color with its outline, and now CGC just decided to outdo PSA with how boring they can make a label look. They honestly just look like a GMA label to me now. As far as grades change/sub grades, discontinuing sub grades really sucks. They stated it was cuz few people chose it as an option, but that’s because they charged the hell out of people for them while BGS only charges $2-10 extra for subgrades on most submissions. Taking away the Perfect grade also is unfortunate, it was nice having a competitor to BGS Black Label. Now it really just feels like CGC is trying to be PSA without being PSA.
Cgc mostly grades tcg, why don’t we have a cert number on the back don’t they know all tcg backside of the card is the same design, sports had too much input on the new design. It’s literally hard to take photos to sell if all the backs are the exact same image.
Maybe my opinions are just unpopular but I do think CGC made a smart move in the long run by removing subgrades. Subgrades are just so subjective in human grading and leading inconsistency. I do agree they should move the cert and bar code to the back and change their label border to blue thou (despite a black border gives a more premium look...)
I hate that they removed subgrades. I bet BGS was smiling with joy knowing they're the top company with subgrades again.
Completely agree man - at first I wasn’t a fan of the blue cgc label but it really grew on me because it was unique, it now resembles a run of the mill generic grading company.
What CGC needs to do is hire you at this point. Great video!
The glory of black labels mixed with the basicness of psa slabs. Brilliant idea.
I agree with every single point you make here, and I hope CGC sees this video. If they feel they need to update the design they should take a minor approach to the style while keeping with the format overall. Big mistake if they go ahead with all these generic changes.
I like your blue border on the top idea - that looks really nice and keeps with the CGC brand and their other non-TCG cases
What bugs me is that the changes does really give off that "loss of identity" feel. Keeping some of that blue would have been good. The New Labels look good. But, I would still love sub grades. I guess I'm sticking with PSA personally.
I’m new to grading and this helped a ton thanks man!
9:42 yeah I’d love to see that video!
At least now these old school CGC will be even more valuable in the future lol
And yes mate, make that vid!
Best Yugi channel online. For true afficionados and collectors.

Man I miss the sub grades!! Love the Pristine labels though!
I think they look great
I’m sticking to PSA
yeah a blue touch would make that label a lot better.
and i agree. To cancel the sub grades is a huge fail

Ding ding ding. Thanks for viewing the videos.
great points as usual, completely agree
The reason the barcode is on the front now is because they had so many complaints of not being able to scan cards that were in display cases.
Thanks for the video man! Yes super interest in you doing crossover grades! Been wondering that myself! What are your thoughts on MANA grading?
100% AGREE
Completely agree and would love to see the cross grade video's!
Thanks For Viewing The Videos!

How do you feel about that grading company that uses AI to grade cards? AGS Grading
I agree keeping the border blue would of looked better
the blue labels were god ugly. glad they removed that
I’d love to see if my DDS Blue Eyes Strong PSA 9 could crossover and get a CGC 10.
Solid video as always :) would love to see the CGC crossed to PSA and vice versa, and heck, maybe even include BGS in there too.
I wonder if this foreshadows a change in their comic grading labels.
Why the re-upload Strictly? 😮
😮something to do with the editing I'm p sure, he mentioned it in his live.
Great analysis

Not worth the money IMO. Thanks for viewing the videos.
Keep up the good work
hope cgc hear you

any chance they would revise the design? its so generic.. all of your comments was spot on LOL
it gives me almost a copied but cheaper version of beckett vibes

this a reupload

I dont like the grading scale changes. I dont like the new label, the old ones had an identity. And i really like subgrades too. 😢
😂😅🤣🤭😄😆🤣😭💀💀💀
big mistake
absolutely hate the new labels. they are ugly and plain. wish they stuck with something similar to the blue label they had
Definitely a few bad moves by this company. I’d love to see the results of sending cgc 9s and 10s to psa and see what comes back
Personally I care more about the card.
