Using the core/slicer tool, I came up with another hack after a recent trip to Cuba. I had a bottle of Cuban rum and wanted to make drinks for some friends and add something special to the event. Don't slice the pineapple all the way through, which will leave the core in the middle of the "shell." Freeze the shells and then serve the drinks in them. A stack of paper napkins close by is a good idea. The shells don't leak as long as you don't cut them too deep, but moisture will condense on the outside and can start to drip a little. Even with the drips, this is my preferred way of serving these types of drinks whenever I have the time and ingredients.
Maybe it needs to be riper?
People are saying that the first method is the “right” way to eat it but it seems like a whole lot more work without any real extra reward.
Right??
I don't think the finger method will ever set the pineapple world on fire! Too much like work! Thank you for a great video.
Thanks for watching!
My ripe pineapple awaits me in the kitchen. I watched a couple of videos before watching yours. One used your first method, the second just cut it apart. Your video was the best!!! And I laughed all the way through! Thanks for your efforts & I'll absolutely be back. Humor is best!
Thanks so much!!!
I also have a pineapple waiting in the kitchen.
When using the corer/slicer, if you don’t cut through the bottom,You can use the outside of the pineapple as a flower vase/centerpiece.
That is such a good idea!
Use the first twisted out top for planting. Not all plantings are successful, but I'm up to two plants so far.
So I got two little roots and then they died. I don't know if my kitchen was too cold or what. I will try again!
I just bought a pineapple but the top was already snipped, is there a way to plant the little nub that's left?
Watching other videos of such, the procedure may be easier if the pineapple is more ripe. The more ripe the better. 👍🏾
I tried the take-apart hack with a knife around the bottom V of the 4 diamond section and it pulled apart easily. This way we could eat the juiciest part (outer layer) of the pineapple right upto the peel. The regular methods peel n throw out a good portion of the outer (ripest) layer. with the hack, its easier if at least the bottom half of the pineapple is ripe (yellow on the bottom). I bought mine when 1/4 from the bottom was yellow and let it sit on my counter for 3-4 days till it became 1/2-2/3 yellow from the bottom and then tried the pull apart hack. cut out the top 1/2 inch and bottom 1/2 inch with the knife and then pull apart.
That is good to know that it worked for someone! I mean, it worked for us, but what a hassle LOL
Hello there hope you an family are well 😊❤ brilliant videos thankyou great tips 👏
You were super nice and started at the top everyone I have seen starts in the center somewhere. I tried and failed lol
I've had friends also try this... and they all come back with... It works, but why--it's a mess! LOL I can't disagree with them ;)
You have a new subscriber 😂
Thank you for this video. I will look for more from you.
You're welcome!
Was the pineapple very ripe?? It looks too green to eat, to me. 🤷🏼♀️
It was really ripe... or at least, it was super sweet!!! So I dunno..
@@AdventuresinEverydayCooking hmmmm...Could you pull a green leaf away from the top without effort?
Yep. I pulled all the middles out before I bought them.
@@AdventuresinEverydayCooking Thanks for the feedback. You explain well, but sometimes it's hard to see the details in a video. I really appreciate your advice. BTW- I'm trying to make empanadas & plantain chips for the first time. Have you ever made either of them in the air fryer?
The 1st pineapple isn’t fully ripe so it is harder to rip out. If you have a yellower pineapple it should work
Maybe I'll revisit this hack? Hmmm ;) Thanks!
Good to see Jake in the video! I love pineapples....I usually just buy canned, but that corer looks fun! Need to get one!
I haven’t tried, but I did hear that a certain kind of pineapple that works better I don’t know. But I have a corer. I think it’s the easiest way. I wish it wasn’t 10:30 pm my mouth is watering and I want pineapple.
Ohhh I should google that! Thanks!
I’m surprised you didn’t say that PC has them...lol I home can 8 pineapples at a time then take the outer skin and cores and boil them and refrigerate over night then bring back to boil to make juice... I take that and make pineapple jelly or just canned the juice.
I tried the Pampered Chef one a couple years ago and I was surprised at how well it worked! But, I've never purchased one.
Omg, I need to meet you. We would have a hoot of a time! 🤪
LOL
You just need you just need to get a ripe pineapple it's great at the creek River you pound it on the ground they come out really easy the fruit doesn't get exposed to bugs and Air. But that thing is green green green green green green green Green it has to be sour
The leaves didn't just come off, you snapped it off 😂😅😊
Shhhh, don't tell my secrets ;) LOL
It needs to be very ripe!🤣🤣🤣 That's not!😏😏
I've tried learning the difference... and still I pick duds. LOL
Would love to know if you pineapple grows I tried but no luck
Yah, it got a couple roots and then died an epic but pleasantly smelly death (LOL)
Ha ha I think I’ll stick to can pineapple ❤
Hahah! Right? What a pain! ;)
Your using a green pineapple, use a yellow one
Yah... I hate picking pineapples.
It has to be very ripe. Learn the difference between!!!
Green and ripe
Is that a pampered chef pineapple corer?
It is not. The Pampered Chef one looks like a huge apple wedger. Here is a link: www.pamperedchef.com/pws/aecheather/shop/Featured+Collections/Healthy+Eating/Pineapple+Wedger/2416
Yak yak yak yak
Indeed. Thanks for noticing! Have a great week!
Too much Yada yada
Have you tried doing a pineapple on the rotisserie in the Pampered Chef Air Fryer yet?
No... but I will! That sounds like fun!
Also good grilling on the pampered Chef Deluxe Grill
Your pineapple was not ripe enough. It was still very green.
It’s not ripe enough to eat with fingers…
The pineapple peels better when riper
There's no yellow on it
I wish there'd been a better pineapple to use, but yah... still a mess LOL
Why do you try this with the most un-ripe pineapple you could find? You need an almost all yellow pineapple, with very little green.
I wish I knew how to pick a pineapple!
So I was doing the same thing as you It didn't work😭😭😭😭
Yah, I think you have to have the perfect pineapple to make it fully work. I don't really think it's worth the hassle!
The pineapple needs to be RIPE before removing the segments.
Yah, even ripe I think it's sooo messy. Not worth the effort-- at least for me.
Perhaps if you picked a ripe pineapple,
They really don't ripen much after they're picked.
I think I would Just go around with a knife
I wish I knew how to pick a ripe one! I've tried and tried and never can get one that is falling apart ripe!
@@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
Ah, I am sure there are videos of advice to find a ripe one.myself never bought many.
@@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
I go for one that tented yellow 3/4 way up or so,over ripe and mushy would not be good either
@@danielaplet4036 I'll try and remember that ;)
Looks way too green, not ripe
I've tried this twice it doesn't work at all. one star
RIGHT? I don't know why people keep saying it works as well as they do. I feel like we were all pranked LOL
Am i the only one who thinks she sounds a bit like sara gilbert?
Do I? Now I’m going to have to listen for it!
😂😂not ripe its green green
I wish there was a class on how to pick a pineapple LOL
