Wise words from a wise man indeed TBW. If you maintain the CFmoto 800MT as you would any motorcycle, it will give you a rewarding experience. It's all about respecting your machine & having a sense of pride. If one cannot be bothered, then don't expect your machine to respect you. Cheers I say.
Absolutely spot on. This country has wasted a decade and more obsessing about identity politics, net zero and historical guilt whilst the developing world cracked on. With the absolute mallets in charge now, things will continue to decline. It will be unrecognisable in twenty years.
@johnscotcher9753 I'm not "upset" no. I don't think they have a clue about taking the country forward. After the state the country was left in by the last lot, they had an open goal. Sadly it appears they have picked up the ball, burst it and chucked it on a bonfire. Only 1/3 of voters voted for them and since then their popularity has fell into the abyss. Says it all really.
We are sending 8 people and 3 vehicles out to do pot hole repairs on the roads. 30 years ago 2 men and a 7.5 toone lorry and roller in tow. They wonder then why councils run out of money by 2nd quarter. And of those 8 men, only 5 can bend down to tie their shoes laces, them 2 men from 30 years ago had 32inch waste trousers and could do a days work.
You've hit the nail squarely on the head there. I bought a Chinese motorcycle a few months ago, its a Chinese built version of the old Honda 650 Dominator. Its been made to look mildly retro in its design, all the usual things, ABS etc but not at all complicated. Less than 5 grand delivered to my home with 6 months tax, up to now its champion ,but so it should be, time however will tell. It's lighter weight when compared to my old Harley bulldozer is welcomed as I approach my 7th decade. Also being a recycled Honda many of the parts for the Honda fit the Chinese version (I do my own maintenance and repairs I started off when that was common place) Google Shineray 650 or Mash 600 650 classic, not everyones cup of tea but I'm getting along fine with it. Thankyou for a nice Yorkshire ride around, most welcome indeed.
Self maintenance is only way to go. Motorbiking was always about simple bikes that were easy to maintain. That's the hobby side of it, and as it should have always stayed.
Simple market forces, if the Chinese make a good product at a good price then it will sell and the Japanese and European manufacturers need to wake up and smell the Coffee before it is too late. Sadly we no longer life in a world where the U.K can afford to take the moral high ground nor do we have to power to influence so the Chinese are coming whether we like it or not. I think companies like CF Moto are doing great things but my only caveat is that we need to see how service and parts go because I do think that is where they are still slightly weak.
This morning I've just read that motor manufacturers and dealer's aren't delivering the new ICE models they've sold till January to avoid falling foul of these EV regulations. What a way to run car manufacturing and what a way to run a country.
Dave, I understand your fondness for the Chinese method of production, might the Chinese be knocking out products at seemingly ridiculously inexpensive prices in order to drive buyers away from European and other manufacturers thereby aiding the demise of those businesses and then cornering the market, prices will inevitably rise as there will be nowhere else to buy from, for the young and us old buggers. Sad times and I fear it'll get a lot worse. Ride safe.
I also agree with you that the Chinese & Royal Enfield will be the look of the future. But for me( I am a baby boomer 73y'y') , I have 5 motorcycles in the stable & will not be re-purchasing another. This is quite the case will most of us boomers here in the U.S.. Were getting closer to the soil everyday. Cheers!!
What happened to the British Nation is the same thing that happened to us Americans. The G.D. politicians & greedy board members SOLD US OUT. So GREED is your answer!! Have a beautiful day! Cheers!! Illinois, USA
Fun fact this years target was 22% ,sales 18% and that's with every trick in the book begin used to increases the numbers. 30% milk float sales totally unachievable.
The issue with Britain and Western nations as a whole is that we have become far too complacent, and that complacency begets envy and vitriol towards those nations that are achieving success but don't conform to our paradigm. In short, we think that life owes us a favour when it clearly doesn't. Compete or die, it's as simple as that...
Hi I am about the same age as you and retired and I agree with everything you have said in this video.I own a Pan European ST1300 and a Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 Special but in the not to distant future I will replace both these bikes with Chinese motorcycles cheers keep up the good work.
What concerns me in the long run is are the Chinese using the 'drug dealer' model of sales? Cheap products to get the market hooked and wipe out the competition before ramping the cost up later? Also really agree with your point about finance at 14:30 minutes. Only debt I had was a mortgage - unable to have fancy things in short run but better off in long run by not lining pockets of finance companies with their high APRs.
They are no different to many well funded businesses in that respect, gaining a market share. But the Chinese are ruthless in a way the Japanese are not, they simply do not care about the end buyer or their own reputation, as MG owners are predictably now finding out. So we'll see how it plays out, but it'll be played out elsewhere, the UK market is tiny & dwindling.
I have a CF Moto 450 quad bike for winter use where I live in Austria , I honestly can’t fault it , superb build quality , ps , I’m a former BMW technician so I know what I’m talking about , and remember, Japanese bikes were slated when they first started making an impact
The government has no interest in motorcycling, I suspect they’d gladly legislate two wheelers off the road. If you follow MAG’s work, you can see their attempts to engage with government are basically ignored. As for the bikes? The quality of Indian and Chinese built bikes has come on in leaps and bounds, couple that with that the likes of CF and RE are offering us affordable bikes that we actually want! Three bikes in the shed, my go to bike is a RE 350. Someone had a go at me about the terrible depreciation, I pointed out that at £2999 new, how much can I actually lose? It’s a keeper anyway.
Hi Dave love watching your vids and views on all things motorcycling , however, I would just like to say. Chinese bikes are cheap because of cheap energy, poor working conditions/rights and as someone said below Very poor pay! who is the western world could survive on £11.5K for a 50 hr week. I will Never buy a fully built Chinese vehicle of any make. If their pay and worker rights were the same as ours the vehicles would cost a similar amount!! As most people, you and I not included, buy on some sort of finance, ie PCP, I did a quick comparison a few days ago for a friend, the comparison with a BMW S 1000 XR TE is , No deposit, £200 per month over 36 months, 5000 mile PA . The CF 800 MT explorer 36 months, £132 Per month 3000 miles PA with a £2600 deposit! I know where I would be putting my money if I were going down the PCP route . I will stick with companies who pay well and accept I am supporting fair pay and conditions and in my view, better products! cheers Dave, all the best for the channel , happy xmas to you and all.
We are absolutely the last generation that will enjoy disposable income in our retirement. It's not just motorcycling that will experience a downturn. Successive cash grabs by government's have caused the current dire situation for young people. Now we have the enforcing of ev's which no-one can afford other than by pcp, low cost housing shortage (because the government sold it all off) meaning lifetime mortgages a real possibility, the list goes on. Not only do the government not want us to have personal transport but it seems that they do not want us to actually own anything. Live on finance and keep the money flowing in the system seems to be the order of the day. Of course owning nothing is a communist ideology. Maybe we're closer to China than we think.
Absolutely true….they flogged off all the social housing and never replaced any of it….also destroyed all our manufacturing in favour of deregulated banking services in the city
I'd better not say anything as last time it was completely misinterpreted... However, I think we are doomed! I'm eagerly anticipating a shaft drive CF Moto with adequate power for European motorway cruising fully equipped for £10k.
Here in Germany it's a nightmare for VW, BMW and many other bike / car company. VW are shutting 3 factories in Germany One in Belgium and a brand new factory in china that cost Billions to build and start but has ran for only a couple of weeks... If you cannot sell the public what they want..... Petrol/ diesel, motors. Then go bust because nobody else wants the over priced milk floats.... Just to add before I go.... VW still pay a monthly dividend of over 1 million euro to the Porsche family EVERY MONTH who invested in the 90s.... No money to carry the workers but still enough for dividends and huge bonuses for the top management.... For failing to shout out NO to the green madness.
Agree with what you say too. Don't think we'll be able to match the Chinese bikes - average manufacturing salary in China is around £11,500, whilst here in the UK it's around £34,500. And as to the materials/components for the bikes, a lot come from China anyway.
younger generations will have to wait till bommers and gen X's like me have all bit the dust and the wills are read before they can afford anything sadly.
Well according to Motorcycle News today the motorcycle industry is alive and kicking. The recent motorcycle sales figures for November 2024 looked very promising. I wish I could believe those figures!!
I should point out that CF moto is designed in Italy and built in china. So when we look at these new joint ventures we need to do it with open minds.. same area where Ducati and others are developed and they were awarded coveted prices like the red dot award
China gets things done sometimes at the price of ordinary people. As for British industry the down turn it all started with Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s and closing or selling off British industry.
Early 70's all that started, Thatcher just threw petrol on that particular fire. She said that the City of London would pay for the Unemployment Benefits......The very same Thatcher that decried Socialism, threw more people INTO Socialism than anyone in our history, and that is the best example of 'Doublespeak' that I know.
@@paulneedham3608 Absolutely. I added almost the same comment , but it didnt get added?.... When you lose your manufacturing your defenceless . The loss of manufacturing WILL bite us in the ass in the future.
4:12 I never thought about this but I read a comment on another video on these battery gloves, the guy mentioned that his sister had a set and in an accident the surgeon apparently said he'd never seen such wrist damage due to the battery packs on her gloves smashing her bones, so just a point on these types of gloves which people maybe should consider 🤔
It’s a choice just like the person who rides without gloves or with skinny designer jobs in summer. If your wrists are going to impact the tarmac at any great speed I think the damage will be substantial whatever you’re wearing tbh
I am of a similar age and background to you, and agree with everything you've said here, particularly in relation to the state of our nation. But, this decline as happened on our watch ! Although 'we' believe in the old school standards and values, we have allowed Politicians and the so called management of our institutions, to take over the country, and take it into decline ! I can't see it coming back !
Hi Dave, the problem for me with the mass import of Chinese bikes is that it's not a level playing field, they have massive cheap labour, and their industry works using steel from numerous coal fired power stations. All at the same time we are constrained by net zero bullshit rules , all pushed through by the last government and this one, the uniparty. I am 70 now and won't be buying any Chinese bikes , I still have three bikes I ride .Good luck with your cf moto and keep up the good riding on those great Yorkshire roads ,me and my mate go over there regularly from Lancashire.
Support your own motorcycle industry. That said maybe they can start making motorcycles simpler, Unfortunately they are loading bikes up with all sorts of electronic gadgets that won’t be supported five years down the road. You have a wide screen dashboard mark 1 , o dear everybody now has dashboard mark 3. What’s your bike worth now ?
It is strangely comforting to hear you 'prattling on' (no offence intended) about subjects that I too hold opinions on. I concur almost entirely with your point of view, but would perhaps have added a few more expletives. For the sake of general viewing, I particularly enjoyed the word 'salad'. Good day to you from a glum NL.
Cars are the problem. They are so cheap and so fast and so easy to drive by idiots that they often are. Automatic gearboxes, power steering, super grippy tyres, ABS, Air bags etc. are all good things to save the driver but are proving to be lethal for everybody else. Add on the continual and persistent use of mobile phones for texting, facebook and even youtube, all at 70mph on every road and consider what chance a young lad ( or lass) has on a small bike. Yes, us baby boomers still ride but we were able to learn with the traffic of the fifties and sixties when not everyone drove as if they were in race and Top gear was not yet a TV show for knobheads.
Dave, interesting points raised. The Chinese question is a good one.. They have been very clever, by using European designed engines, ie BMW and KTM. I have not seen a Chinese designed engine as yet. I think that the Japanese have already awoken to this fact.. The pricing of the new Honda 1000 Hornet for example... I guess like many I have decided to keep what I have got.. Wait to see what happens..
@@checker3694 I think you might be wrong there, Soichero Honda was a brilliant engineer and designer , and encouraged young people to advance their ideas, 4 cylinder double overhead camshaft motorcycles, with combined gearboxes and wet clutches, that neither leaked oil or vibrated, electric starters that worked, horizontally split crankcases for ease of assembly, and many other things , oh and C.N.C controlled machinery, designed by Honda and the patent given out free
@russthebiker Nothing you have mentioned is an invitation that the Japanese have done, all were in Automobiles going back to 1920,s, I would love one mechanical invitation they have invited, I still can't think of any, I could google something, but i not sure it would be an innovation, but a re engineering of something that already existed. There cars, even by 1975 were nearly 15 years behind Italian engineering. Soichero as you said was a brilliant engineer and designer, but he was not an Inovator, that's were especially Europeans and North American are and will continue to be for the forseable future. Honda automotive now hold less that 1.5% of UK and European car market for the reason above, they filled an important gap for many years while us and the North Americans were manufacturing poor Quality rubbish.
Bought a Benelli trk 702X absolutly loving it best bike ive had fits me and the wife perfectly for touring and what a great price 5000mls so far with a 1500ml scotland tour two up no problems so far Only thing we found the fueling was a bit out at low revs but seems to have got better after the long tour and even better since i fitted the Mivv end can Saved £3000 as i was going to buy the transalp but found the trk 702X was just as good with a massive saving no regrets so far loving the bike ride and handling it sticks fo the road great test ride one before making comment on the chinese bikes you might just be surprised
I have worked at Vertu where cars and bikes were amalgamated and the bikes always had the back seat, the bikes never reached the upper profit levels, this is eventually going to fail the bikes.
No wonder the car manufacturers are in serous trouble, they’ve been stitched up by their respective governments and the prospect of billions made on overpriced junk as far as I’m concerned. The vast majority of people can neither afford EVs or want them whilst the ICE is still the most reliable and affordable option. Greed is always there at the top of the downfall list. Great blog and good to listen to someone with knowledge and wisdom, which are rare commodities these days!👍
When I was a youth in the 1960s all I ever thought about was getting a motorbike, that’s when motorbikes meant something, BSA Road Rocket, Norton dominator, Triumph Bonneville etc most of us were desperate to get a nice bike (or an Italian scooter) it defined who you were. Lewis leather jacket and so on. All we talked about was bikes and Birds, a lot of modern bikes are just two wheeled cars and there’s no soul there anymore to entice the young bods to ride, I’ve got a 1979 Moto Guzzi, it’s a motorbike.
I totally agree with you. At 73 y.y. I have 2 older Moto Guzzi California's (a 1999& a 2007) solid as a rock & without all of this high tech S.H.I.T.. Cheer's!!
In my opinion your analysis is spot on, especially as you are referring to our age sector. History has a way of repeating itself, and the young people today will struggle as my parents did in the 50,s. Whereas their parents were relatively well off, The Historic cycle ! China? I had 20 years working with them, so I KNOW how it works. There is a strategy, and it's not in our intrest. Enough said. Regards MikeN
We saw all this kicking off in the early 80's. I was working as a youth worker and over the space of 2 years we watched all the funding being taken out of Youth Work, to the point they wanted us to work for nothing. We said at the time in 20 or 30 or so years (about now) everything will go tits up, and sure enough it has. All of industry was taken away and cheap Chinese and Russian imports were used instead; coal, manufacturing etc. There is still enough coal in the ground in the UK to keep us going for long time to come. This Zero Emissions rubbish is just that. Not everyone wants or can afford electric vehicles, I certainly don't, and if it means not buying another new car, then so be it. Used cars are better value anyways. I've said this before on your comments and on others. I feel very little sympathy for manufacturers that produce products that only a niche group of people can afford (Harley Davidson). And like you yourself have said, who will buy these mega expensive machines in 10 or so years. I certainly won't!!
Sadly we're not seeing many Chinese brands in Oz. IMO If they invested a little effort in this market they'd probably wipe out the Japanese manufacturers with their dreary and minimal offerings.
Hi Dave, China may dominate the future of motorcycling but I fear not in this country, not with present and future legislation. Like your content and video's, keep up the good work.
Hi yes your spot on its not only price here in UK it's legislation and pressure on manufacturing and dealers yep Chinese may take over as the market gets ever harder for mainstream companies and taxes on dealers get higher that again rises prices to customers unless it's stopped not a good time ahead while we fail others get richer we are a small market all mainstream manufacturing can do without the UK realy hope im wrong but probably put money on I'm not ride free while they let you
If Chinese bikes become the main stay for most people and a lot of the leading brands go by the wayside don’t for one minute think they won’t put there prices up. In future years I can see bikes being sold like Tesla’s with all sales being online and no dealers.
If we needed any proof that the people that run this country have lost the plot and live in lala land then their EV mandate clearly demomstrates the lunatics have truly taken over the asylum. On the subject of Jefferies BMW (now Vertu) stock of bikes , you are 100% right , I visited the dealership recently and the place is rammed with new and used BMW bikes, I don't think I've ever seen that many new BMW bikes in one showroom before, their accounts department must be having nightmares😀
Chinese bikes...... I love to hear ppl get on their orange boxes and say they won't buy a Chinese bike on morality grounds. I would highly recommend you do an in depth study on genocide. As individuals Mao takes top place. Stalin second, Hitler 3 and Leopard 2nd of Belgium 4th. On a national level it is far more complex. The British murdered over 250 million in India, and similar numbers in Africa. 1,5 million in Ireland and close to a million of their own poor shipped as slaves to North America. 80% died in transit. The North America has murdered over 30 million since 1946. Add to that the extermination of 90% of the indigenous population of America using every conceivable method of violence including biological warfare. Stop listening propaganda, do your own research and buy the bike that suits. I avoided Japanese bikes for my first 5 years of riding because of my 2 brothers propaganda.. Fortunately I got to own a CB200 by chance and never looked back. Around 60 bikes and half Japanese
So, knowing what you know, although I dispute some of those numbers, would you have bought a British manufactured motorcycle, knowing the profits were contributing to genocide?
@thewoodster8607 I think boycotting a country for a present day event if substantiated is valid but in the Orwllian world we live in that is very difficult to do. Interestingly many of the inmates in Geuatanamo Bay are Uyghar picked ap in Iraq My 1st Triumph was a 57 speed twin (same age as me) when I was 18 BTW.
Said it before, we boomers lived through the best of times. Earning an average wage as a young man, buying a house was no problem, never mind getting a bike & license. I feel sorry for today's young. 🙁
Wow. You’re the only boomer that admits it. The rest think they worked harder and that the young would all have houses, decent pensions and free education if only they didn’t waste money on posh coffee and avacado on toast. They also refuse to see that by buying extra houses to let out and objecting to new build housing, they rig the housing market in their favour and profit directly from depriving the generations that followed.
I considered changing my K1600gtle I've owned from new for 5 years due to older age problems, weight of bike etc. I test rode a new Gs and gsa. The px value offered me would mean I had lost 20k in 5 years if I'd traded in. I sold it private for just shy of 5k more than px value. While doing this I had time to watch reviews, think about the difference between what I'd like and what I actually needed. I've now ordered a Honda Nt1100. I got a call from BMW during the conversation he pointed out the possible depreciation on the honda unless I intended keeping it for a good while, in fairness he said it was well priced. The thing is, at around 15k New, I could keep it for 5 years, throw it away and I would have lost less than the K1600gtle over the same period. If money was no object I would have probably bought an RT, but for the price I'm paying is the ride itself going to be less enjoyable?
I understand that margins are thin, but I've got no doubt they would have advertised mine at the 17k mark, I also know they would have to pay vat, but looking after the customer’s loyalty I think would serve them better in the long term, servicing etc, more likely to change bike if the px value at least felt fair. Loving the channel
Hi Dave, there are a few interesting talking points here but I'll stick to one. The problem that legacy car manufactures have is not that they invested too much in developing EVs but that they didn't invest enough. China is now the world leader in EV manufacture, the majority of cars sold in China are now EVs and they are almost in the same position as Tesla in that they have reached economy of scale and will very soon be selling affordable EVs to the rest of the world. Sadly most legacy manufactures have left it too late. The EU and USA slapping huge tariffs on Chinese cars will make no difference, and in fact is doing more harm than good to German manufacturers like VW who have collaborations with Chines manufactures. I'm sure China will also soon be leading the way in the manufacture of electric motorcycles, and like it or not the younger riders you talk about will be riding those bikes. As with car manufacturers, most legacy motorcycle manufactures are dragging their heels and will unfortunately go the same way. Of course us older riders and drivers will be able to continue indulging our deep rooted love affair with the internal combustion engine for as long as we can afford the fuel, but it's going to get very expensive. I've heard a few bikers saying they'll never own an electric bike, as far as I'm concerned if the choice is between riding electric or not riding at all, I'll be plugging in. Until then I'll enjoy the sounds and vibrations of my Bullet, K1600 and Deauville. Cheers, Mick
Hi Nick I was sceptical at first but having used them for several months and given the low cost I’m something of a convert. Only downside I can see is they have to be hard wired into the bike via a switched accessory feed or using a Healtech Thunderbox (you can’t plug into a bikes USB currently but they are working on an update)
The problems the automotive industry has in Europe do seem to be complex. Lack of investment, tariffs, government legislation, economic pressures etc. To give you one example the Chinese can manufacture an electric car engine for about 5k. It’s around 20k in Europe. Europe has put tariffs on Chinese technology coming in and the Chinese have reciprocated denting European car sales there. Having said all that I do think some people will still buy premium brands like BMW, Triumph and Ducati because they can afford it. The equivalent isn’t that much more either, a loaded 800GS is about 12k.
Great video beautiful scenery as usual but a bit cold that bike maybe Chinese but it certainly looks as good as any other adv bike as for lasting it’s like everything if you maintain it to a high standard it will probably stand the rigours of time it certainly is a looker there is still a lot of bikes on my radar and that exact bike is towards top of the list for next summer as a 2nd bike do you Andy think Ktm are going to survive there muddle they are in or will it end there reign
A lot of people riding and buying bikes are older with less disposable income, admit it reading this, you aren't as image conscious anymore and subsequently like to save a couple of quid if you can! Personally I feel we should (in general) try buy British or buy European, our European (and American) neighbours buy so much more from us than China - you scratch my back I'll scratch yours if you like. The alternative is potentially China completely dominating selling to the world market and a subsequently seeing more and more western business collapse, which would have repercussions everywhere close to home. USA import 188 billion UK goods, China No 6 on 32 billion, which is also significantly less than German, Netherlands, France, Ireland.
Your vlogs altered my perception not just of smaller capacity bikes but of Chinese made bikes. Nevertheless, I remain a child of the seventies and therefore still think that ultimate sports bikes are the ultimate bike with Aprilia’s RSV4 the pinnacle of sports bike design. Overlooked at this years EICMA was CF-Moto’s “conceptual” V4 which seemed to benchmark Aprilia’s V4 and out specs it in every way. They intimated entering WSB with this engine to showcase a road going application. For me, that will cement China’s domination of the bike makers if only in intent. In other sectors, Great Wall Motors have a Gold Wing competitor, an eight cylinder boxer engined tourer with every bell & whistle they could think of thrown at it - apparently their founder and CEO is a bike nut. GWM is probably the biggest auto company you’ve never heard of. The demographic of China is favourable to bikes. They have over 100 cities with populations above 1 million, 17 mega cities with populations over 10 million, one city has 32 million; if you live in such a densely packed city a bike is a wonderful escape mechanism. I predict a Chinese world champion in bike racing in the next ten years. I predict Suzuki/Kawasaki will cease making bikes. China - they are on their way.
Enjoyed that Content, far too many topics and views to comment on but good we can express our views. Of course easier now many of us are retired as we don’t have to worry about being ‘in trouble ‘ at the workplace for personal views. Only one small observation in terms of unconscious bias…. Growing a pair of big hairy ones is difficult for a good proportion of the population…. But I’m 100% behind the need for proper leadership delivered without fear or favour of the myriad of people and organisations you might offend. If you want a good read or ideally listen via audible get a copy of Ben Elton’s ‘Identity Crisis’ a very funny but insightful book. Ride safe.
What future of motorcycling? You are assuming there is going to be one when everything is clearly pointing to the fact that personalized motorized transport of any kind is not going to be a part of the future for the masses. That has been the plan for at least three decades and the confirmation of that has been published for all to see for a long time - not to mention its clear implementation in the here and now.
Interesting as always Dave. We haven't had a decent PM since 1990 and I think you are just the sort of politician that we need to get us out of this limp wristed fug that we are languishing in. As far as electric cars go; until the super polluters like China and India are brought into line, they can shove 'em where the sun don't shine. It's going to be interesting to see what happens to the mountains of self combusting scrap battery packs in the future as well. All the best.
I looked it up and found out that over 50% of new car sales in China are Electric or Hybrid. With all due respect, I'm not selling my soul to the dictator of China for a couple of thousand dollars. How well are those bikes going to hold up over time? What sort of wages do you suppose they pay those people in China? I am a 62 year old American working in a Japanese auto factory for 29 years and I feel that we are fairly compensated for our labor. It was hard for me to afford new cars (I've only bought one new car in my life) in my younger days. Housing has always been expensive as well. Population growth rates are in decline and are set to become negative in the not so distant future. As Al Gore said " Climate change is the inconvenient truth." It's real and we are going to have to do something about it. I love my gas powered motorcycles as well.Yes our elected officials are somewhat dis functional but if it gets bad enough they will be shown the door. Can the same be said of China? Maybe, but not so much. Thank you for the video.
We said the same about the "quality" of Japanese vehicles 50 years ago. Though, I remember Datsun cars being better specified than Mercs! I thoroughly agree with your points of view. So, divvying up positions, do you want to be Transport Secretary or Home Secretary when the current shower of ******* vacate? 🤣🤣
The chinese still have a long way to go before this happens. Dealer back-up. Prestige, racing heritage and name. The Japanese had the same principle but built there own bikes with there own style and engineering instead of copying other brands of motorcycles. The chinese are good at copying and selling cheap products but does everybody what that ? Cheaper labour and slave labour in some cases is not a level playing field !! The Chinese are not adhering to reducing global warming by building more coal power stations. The chinese electrical car manufacturing is years head of Europe with all the minerals that make up the battery's to hand, they are trying to flood the market but America and European countries have put 100% import duties on the cars. I would rather pay the extra and purchase Japanese or Germany cars or bikes. Remember if you buy cheap you sell cheap.
Im sorry but I would Not touch ANY Chinese derived Motorcycle. Utter garbage. Quality control on Chinese vehicles are Poor at best, Internal Parts and castings cant be trusted. If you get to 30K then your lucky. You get what you pay for.
I’m afraid you’re wrong…..It’s well made, well finished, rides brilliantly and looks fresh and modern….so which Chinese bikes have you had so as to enable you to make such a comment?

Exactly Ian…..shambolic
Indeed….we think people in other countries want to be like us….they don’t
Hi I am about the same age as you and retired and I agree with everything you have said in this video.I own a Pan European ST1300 and a Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 Special but in the not to distant future I will replace both these bikes with Chinese motorcycles cheers keep up the good work.
I have just brought a 450nk & for my daily rider it's brilliant really nice to ride.
👍
Forget all these TFT screens and other fripperies, where’s the compartment for keeping the Pie hot?
My nc750s has one.... It's just over the engine and gets warm... It's called a frunk 😂
The newer versions have a pie warmer 👍🏻😂
I have a CF Moto 450 quad bike for winter use where I live in Austria , I honestly can’t fault it , superb build quality , ps , I’m a former BMW technician so I know what I’m talking about , and remember, Japanese bikes were slated when they first started making an impact
We Europeans are playing now the end of the Roman empire again. Mankind never learns😢
Yes…I’m also a member of MAG
Very good points
Absolutely true….they flogged off all the social housing and never replaced any of it….also destroyed all our manufacturing in favour of deregulated banking services in the city
I'd better not say anything as last time it was completely misinterpreted...
However, I think we are doomed!
I'm eagerly anticipating a shaft drive CF Moto with adequate power for European motorway cruising fully equipped for £10k.
Moto guzzi already do this with their V7 range 😉👍🏻
Just what I'm looking for cf moto shaft drive like the pan european, but more modern!
Here in Germany it's a nightmare for VW, BMW and many other bike / car company.
VW are shutting 3 factories in Germany
One in Belgium and a brand new factory in china that cost Billions to build and start but has ran for only a couple of weeks...
The voice of reason and experience, couldn't agree more with this and the other 2 vids......Long may you continue my friend.
Cheers Colin 😎👍🏻
Great video Dave as usual 👍
China gets things done sometimes at the price of ordinary people. As for British industry the down turn it all started with Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s and closing or selling off British industry.
Early 70's all that started, Thatcher just threw petrol on that particular fire. She said that the City of London would pay for the Unemployment Benefits......The very same Thatcher that decried Socialism, threw more people INTO Socialism than anyone in our history, and that is the best example of 'Doublespeak' that I know.
Yes the 80s saw our industrial base decimated in favour of financial services….manufacturing is just 15% of our GDP now
@@paulneedham3608 Absolutely.
Wise words sir. I appreciate your stoic approach to the way of the world, and I would say I am a kindred spirit 👍
Same with the Japanese, to this day from memory, they have never invented anything in the Automotive industry, only copied and perfected.
Hornet 1000 is very tempting
@@checker3694 Look up full-flow engine oil filtration and gear-reduction starters.
Bought a Benelli trk 702X absolutly loving it best bike ive had fits me and the wife perfectly for touring and what a great price 5000mls so far with a 1500ml scotland tour two up no problems so far
Only thing we found the fueling was a bit out at low revs but seems to have got better after the long tour and even better since i fitted the Mivv end can
Saved £3000 as i was going to buy the transalp but found the trk 702X was just as good with a massive saving no regrets so far loving the bike ride and handling it sticks fo the road great test ride one before making comment on the chinese bikes you might just be surprised
Spot on …….. as usual Dave 👍
Great content..SOUTH AFRICA
Thank you Richard
When I was a youth in the 1960s all I ever thought about was getting a motorbike, that’s when motorbikes meant something, BSA Road Rocket, Norton dominator, Triumph Bonneville etc most of us were desperate to get a nice bike (or an Italian scooter) it defined who you were. Lewis leather jacket and so on. All we talked about was bikes and Birds, a lot of modern bikes are just two wheeled cars and there’s no soul there anymore to entice the young bods to ride, I’ve got a 1979 Moto Guzzi, it’s a motorbike.
Well said mate, l totally agree 👍
I totally agree with you. At 73 y.y. I have 2 older Moto Guzzi California's (a 1999& a 2007) solid as a rock & without all of this high tech S.H.I.T.. Cheer's!!
In my opinion your analysis is spot on, especially as you are referring to our age sector.
History has a way of repeating itself, and the young people today will struggle as my parents did in the 50,s.
Whereas their parents were relatively well off,
The Historic cycle !
China?
I had 20 years working with them, so I KNOW how it works.
There is a strategy, and it's not in our intrest.
Enough said.
Regards
MikeN
Absolutely…..all the money is now in the hands of a tiny minority…..and they don’t want us to have any of it
Another excellent vlog Dave thank you. Regards, Mo 😊👍.
👍
So, knowing what you know, although I dispute some of those numbers, would you have bought a British manufactured motorcycle, knowing the profits were contributing to genocide?
It's not about the past. Look at what they are doing now. China is supporting Russia as much as they think they can get away with.
@thewoodster8607 I think boycotting a country for a present day event if substantiated is valid but in the Orwllian world we live in that is very difficult to do.
Interestingly many of the inmates in Geuatanamo Bay are Uyghar picked ap in Iraq
My 1st Triumph was a 57 speed twin (same age as me) when I was 18 BTW.
Not forgetting 1 million civilian deaths in Iraq courtesy of the Blair-Bush deception
All the people whinging about seeing if the bike survives a British winter, even top end motorbikes will see rust if there not protected.
I paid £18k for my K1600 GTLE and a year later they offered me £10k against a GSA!
Cheers, Mick
if you want a full spec bmw adventure bike with all the extras but can't afford it, then buy the bmw, sorry the voge 900 dsx 🙂
Been putting off testing one of these Aouci units, maybe ill give one a test
But we don’t make anything….manufacturing just 15% of uk economy 😎

Don't forget the 'retro' Fiat 500!
Hmmmm....means I stay to my old bikes. Sorry, never a Chinese one, same with cars. Maybe I am wrong, but....
But?

Al Gore is a scam artist, why did you fall for that crap?
We said the same about the "quality" of Japanese vehicles 50 years ago. Though, I remember Datsun cars being better specified than Mercs!
I thoroughly agree with your points of view. So, divvying up positions, do you want to be Transport Secretary or Home Secretary when the current shower of ******* vacate? 🤣🤣
Remember the big one, ww2, so why would anyone from England want a BMW anything.
They last 10 minutes. Mine literally died on the first ride. Total waist of money
Waste ( I am a Grammer Nazi )
What are?
@@thebingleywheeler bloke above said waist of money
Your waist is the bit round your middle
I think he meant waste 😁
No it wont
The problems the automotive industry has in Europe do seem to be complex. Lack of investment, tariffs, government legislation, economic pressures etc. To give you one example the Chinese can manufacture an electric car engine for about 5k. It’s around 20k in Europe. Europe has put tariffs on Chinese technology coming in and the Chinese have reciprocated denting European car sales there. Having said all that I do think some people will still buy premium brands like BMW, Triumph and Ducati because they can afford it. The equivalent isn’t that much more either, a loaded 800GS is about 12k.
