Hi person who pitched in on Patreon, yes you pronounced my name correct. Thanks for the shoutout TJ
As for these Mars converters, I remember a friend having a few of these. I tried to transform one and the arm broke, and he was angry at me for a week (understandably)
I will give credit where it is due, the Brachio's legs are pretty cool.
These things. I Remember Thew Adams' review where they somehow managed to put Fake tiny rollers underneath tracked vehicles.
I haven't seen M.A.R.S. Convertors in over a decade! I didn't realize they were still a thing
I remember seeing these back in the 2000s. I'm shocked they are still being made.
Because they've been a huge success. 🙂
Have lasted even longer than G1 TFs and the OG MOTU. 😛
I had something like that when i was a kid, my uncle bought one for me and the transformation was just that but with a different car mode.
The sad thing is some of these have pretty neat designs, unfortunately the combination of size and cheap plastic mean they could shatter into eye-piercing shards at the slightest impact.
Thew vs Mars Converter
This is always an interesting series. If you can find one for a decent price I think you should try Takara's Jobraver line.
My late best friend Dave made a custom Windcharger out of Accelerator frmm this line. Love this oine for some if the ridiculous designs and names. I just bought "Bust Runner" recently.
These look like the type of toy you see in a show that spoofs Transformers
Everything about these are supposed to be cheap! Just what were you expecting? I buy these for my kids so if they break them I don’t care, or they’re cannon fodder lol. There’s a place for them for low income families which Hasbro in its greed decided to sell “authentics”, because they felt like they were missing out on fleecing the poor dollar. Not everyone can afford premium Transformers product so each to their own.
👍
Even Authentics is better than these. Hasbro may be chasing that Dollar Store revenue but they still have some dignity left.
@@Trebleshot Nah, barring exceptions like Wheeljack authentics are worse
Me personally instead of buying lots of cheap ones that keep braking, I save up for one that's good quality
Cant wait for these to end up in a dumbjake video
Thew is laughing somewhere.
I think the thing to remember about the price of Transformers is this: Yes, it sucks they're getting more expensive. But we need to remember, it's a business, they need to turn a profit, and inflation is a real issue, and so is Climate Change, which is going to make stuff made of plastic become more expensive as we try to limit our damage to natural world. Sadly there just isn't much we can do about it, and neither can Hasbro. This isn't me trying to defend a company, this is just me accepting the reality of the situation, I wish it wasn't true, but it just be like that.
That doesn't feel true, climate change and the economy is just used as an excuse for companies to give us a worse product at a higher price. Other companies can deliver transforming robots at a similar quality, larger size, and lower price. Tobot for example.
Outside of TF you have Nerf which became so hated by the community that most serious hobbyists switched to Dart Zone and other third party brands.
On top of that Hasbro has fired designers, who you'd expect to be paid more if they supposedly did this to help their workers, and shifted operations to Vietnam to lower the production costs. Hasbro's CEO took a 21 million dollar bonus last year amid these layoffs, price hikes, and lowered labour costs.
@@StudioRevoct I'm not going to argue that my original post only scratched the surface of issues to be had, but imo to ignore them is just as bad. Yes, companies have been doing scummy practices for their CEOs to make big bucks, but to pin it entirely on that is to chose to ignore other issues that aren't necessarily controlled by Hasbro. Tobot is hardly a fair comparison when the laws in its home country would be different from ones in America, that can effect plastic usage, as we attempt to address the issues of plastic consumption over the years, or the impact of years of unaddressed inflation. In the end, it's a mix of factors Hasbro can effect, and ones they can't. It's not a black and white dilemma of "Company Bad".
@@goldengrimlockAgreed. These issues are far more complex than just hand-waving it to corporate greed. If anything, it boils down to human greed - that includes the consumer. We all want this and that for as little as possible. Keep in mind everything is only worth what you're willing to pay. And that doesn't just mean money.
I believe he can fly. I believe he can touch the sky. He thinks about it every night and day. Spread those orange wings and fly away.
Yehhhh the underrated TF copies I actually enjoyed
👍
I love how some people take any opportunity to fire shots at "Hasblo" even if they're completely missing the point of the video.
Yo,TJ omega, don’t forget that mars converters existed before 2017,just to let you know
I'm curious what TJ would think of some of the "newer" (I use quotes because I don't know how old they are) Chinese and Korean transforming robot toys from things like Glory Alliance or Miniforce. I feel like I remember him and Vangelus talking about Tobot and Metal Cardbot on a WTF@TFW episode sometime last year.
I will give the 2nd guy the benefit of the doubt that he could be a Medieval, fantasy Dragon.
Oh yea, I got one of these once… I once brought it up to a therapist and described how bad it was. That therapist after the session said they need to find a therapist afterwards…
Also, I’m a little sad this wasn’t a full on Plastic Addict video, these seem like great Addict canidates
You’re giving Hasbro waaaaay too much credit, I wouldn’t have been surprised if this was an actual figure that came out in Legacy
Only thing missing is the articulation.
And you're not giving them enough if you think this sh!t is something they would produce.
Legacy core class are cheaper to buy and they're far higher quality this.
Watching the video, nodding my head in agreement.
I wish I could find these somewhere.
I remember select converters lol
When I saw the title, I thought this was some spin-off involving G.I. JOE.. Something related to Destro's company, M.A.R.S. Industries (Military. Armaments. Research. Syndicate.).
pinned wheels AND a waste swivel? of course Hasbro wouldn’t make this, they can’t!
Why does a cheapo imitation brand have pinned-in wheels, and actual Transformers don't?
They used the money saved on the shit plastic for pinned wheels
