    For clamping during glue-up, why not use a vacuum bag as well? It applies very even pressure, and is used a lot in guitar building, for example.

    • @leboxon9407
      @leboxon9407 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The part pressed wasn’t filled evenly, only a few strips of foam inside, with vacuum it would have collapsed or the glue would burst out due to the pressure

    @WestBerlinCustoms 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You did a great job and spent a lot of time with the sanding block - but the result is totally worth it! 👍😎👍
    Maybe a fill primer would be a quicker way to eliminate the 3D print structures (instead of the gel-coat), because the primer is way more easy to level. But I hope, you won't have to build another one - at least not for the same reason! Have fun with your great looking car! Greetings all the way from Berlin!

    • @voongnz
      @voongnz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Epoxy gelcoat bonds much more stronger and less likely to come apart when de-molding. Maybe with a one-time only use mold, fill primer is fine. But with the amount of materials used just for the molds, it would seem much better to have everything stronger for producing multiple parts before if that is his case. Maybe he just has gelcoat handy on him so he just used it.

    • @WestBerlinCustoms
      @WestBerlinCustoms 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@voongnz Your suggestions might be right. I used.plastic primer combined with a high build primer with ABS and PLA prints in the past and had no adhesion issues. As long as the mold is waxed and prepped with PVA, like perfectly shown in the video, filler should be all right. But that's just a little recommendation, the wing came out great and reality proves, there are a lot options to find a solution. 💪

    • @voongnz
      @voongnz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WestBerlinCustoms yes absolutely, proper application of release agents and mold design is what matters the most when de-molding and having the mold and part in good condition after.
      Yeah many different processes for the solution, many people just apply a single layer of gelcoat and let it self-level for a smooth finish. So even his example is different.

    • @nottherealjk
      @nottherealjk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. Normally contact areas have a layer of fiberglass in between to act as a barrier to prevent conductivity. Didn't see it here as part of the build.

      @@nottherealjk Yeah I'm using aluminum to mount some items on a monocoque I am making. I have read the info and plan on using a thin sheet of fiberglass over the aluminum plates. But IDK..
