Hard to believe this was from 50 years ago! Where did all that time go?!! Great that we can see these performances whenever we want but nothing feels like the real live concert experience.
I was 20 years old in 1972. Not long before this, I saw Traffic performing a live concert at The Bandshell in The Central Park Mall. The music was great, and one of the things I always remembered was that it was the first time I had ever seen a green guitar! He just got better and better through the years. Right on, Little Stevie! Work that tambourine, Big Jim!
bands like Traffic, the Stones and Blind Faith were producing stuff that lasts. I was blessed to see Winwood quite a few times. Always funny and a happy guy onstage.
Straight Up 🎉I saw Traffic not once but Twice, and perhaps more than that as he used to play the Boston Music Hall in Boston, my Beantown baby back in the Day, 1972 and I was 16 years old!! The tickets were never more than $6 or $7 bucks and we used to seriously bitch when they would charge $12 a pop because the main artist that was playing there were World Famous and had been performing on the reg.! Anyway, I will fill you in with the rest of my exploits next time around 😅
The Last concert I went to was Emerson, Lake and Palmer warming up for Deep Purple. It was a steady barrage of memories all night long! I so miss the 70's and 80's , I'd give everything I own to go back!!!!!
*I am old and i know people half my age and younger that really appreciate and love music like Traffic. Old timers here saying the opposite is really ridiculous and shows how small your world is.*
I saw them at the Santa Monica auditorium in 1972 . I was 17 with my boyfriend then. Now my husband who was a bigger fan than I was. But that night I was hooked. They were awesome. Didn’t realize the swampers were playing that night, roger Hawkins on drums, David hood on bass and Barry on keyboards. Long live the swampers
Great story about your experience and it’s awesome that you got married and are still together I hope ! Thanks for sharing your story , that is so cool . I was first turned on to traffic by a midwestern guy going through flight school at Fort Rucker, here where I live in Southeast Alabama, and I was instantly taken back by the smooth sound of traffic and Steve Winwood’s smooth sound. Have smoked a lot of good weed back then listening to traffic even until this day it never gets old nor does the weed . Hope this finds you and your family well and safe. Greetings from south east Alabama USA ☮️❤️
Winwood what a talent! The golden age of music late 60's to mid 70's. He was so melodic and a virtuoso on guitar as well as keyboards. Traffic were an amazing band under the guiding hand of the great Jimmy Miller 👏
Definitely listening to this masterpiece in 2024, at 71! Probably the most underrated guitar solo of all time, especially for a keyboard player. The song is timeless, a classic in capital letters. Go Stevie!
i'm a child of the 50's. growing up i got to hear the best of our greatness in the 50's though to 2000. the music now pales and has forgotten the greatness of the bands we used to listen to. i'm surprised to see small heroes emerge for rock . even Kelly Clarkson. Who i appreciate beyond words. i loved her show where she sat with the ladies from Heart and jammed out. she still holds a torch which i hope never goes out. my heart goes out to all our heroes. to get together and forget the past to grow and save our music.
I was there.steve Winwood hit on me waving at me to come back stage in his All pink suit.i was so high on lsd I just wanted to keep dancing I under the moonlight.and that's what I did. Love you stevie*
I saw Black Sabbath and Traffic together In Seattle in 1976 .One of the last Sabbath shows. Traffic has always been great .As was all of the bands from the 60,s and 70,s it was real vocals and music unlike the last 40 years they were real musicians miss those days.
I passed this on to my El Salvadorian born in USA nephew he loves it at 14. Steve is Gods gift to mankind also it’s good to hear he attends his church when he’s home. Just amazing music try listening to it at the beach at sunset
I was 16, living in Santa Monica and snuck into this show. (If a band played the Civic between 1972 and 1984, I probably saw it.)This impressionable teenager was absolutely mesmerized by the Traffic jams. Fully hypnotized without swallowing, smoking or snorting anything. I'm pretty sure Steve couldn't say the same thing... eyes like saucers. After seeing this show, I spent my paper route money on every Traffic LP I could find... and continued doing so. What a tight, improv psych rock band. And IMHO, everyone can f*** the Hall of Fame. These guys are in Valhalla. Edit: PRODUCED BY TAYLOR HACKFORD??? ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME. No wonder it was so good for 1972. Seven years later, he's doing the brilliant but exceptionally underrated "The Idolmaker," (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if only to watch Ray Sharkey), then on to "Officer/Gentleman", THEN Against All Odds. I had no idea he cut his teeth with films like this. Explains why this comes off as so magnificiently. I feel honored just to say "Thank you, Mr Capaldi!"
I was 12 at that time and the exact opposite of you. I was living in Detroit Michigan and my eyes looked like his. Thank God I went into the army at 18 and they fixed me, no more drugs.

My Dad is of this generation of rock and roll, seen them all, but he said when Traffic came to town there was no need for weed, trips, whatever.
He's a brilliant guitarist. They were the best of the best...
bands like Traffic, the Stones and Blind Faith were producing stuff that lasts.
Or Not 😮
The Last concert I went to was Emerson, Lake and Palmer warming up for Deep Purple. It was a steady barrage of memories all night long! I so miss the 70's and 80's , I'd give everything I own to go back!!!!!
My fav band of that time, also my first concert at the old Kiel Opera House in St Louis. Just awesome.
What a wonderful venue. Saw so many great shows at the Opera House. The Dead, the Who, Clapton.@@neverettebrakensiek8771
Brings back memories of a time long gone but I lived it!
What incredible music. And Steve Winwood just 24. Incredible guitar playing!
I’m 64 & live in Oregon. Such a magical time. 🎶 💓
*I am old and i know people half my age and younger that really appreciate and love music like Traffic. Old timers here saying the opposite is really ridiculous and shows how small your world is.*
Takes me back to a great time, great music. If you were not there you could not understand. I wish you could
Now i'm 72 years and
I remember so much these musik. It's. my.ife....
Now that's a live performance
so many artist suck in person, they are awesome~
@@sandals42159 yeah a lot bands play backing tracks bunch of phonies
@@JohnSmith-ds1fm The best bands I ever heard live were Heart, Chicago, and Santana.
@sandals42159 Zeppelin, the police, and the cars were a few of the many bands I've seen that were awesome live
@@JohnSmith-ds1fm I saw The Police at Foxboro! They are great, too!
Winwood what a talent! The golden age of music late 60's to mid 70's. He was so melodic and a virtuoso on guitar as well as keyboards. Traffic were an amazing band under the guiding hand of the great Jimmy Miller 👏
We were Blessed, This younger generation doesn't know how much.😝😝😝
❤ I'm 70. Bringing back good memories
74 and got the Haight April '67
What a great song,, Steve Winwood eyes are only a little glassy,, what a awesome time for music
All of the music of this era, and the price of a concert ticket, to boot !
Mr. Winwood...I feel forever blessed that your music entered into my life and touched my soul. Thank you.
Steve Winwood ! If you love musical genius you can be sure you love Steve Winwood!
I'm 58 this is an awesome tune
Definitely listening to this masterpiece in 2024, at 71! Probably the most underrated guitar solo of all time, especially for a keyboard player. The song is timeless, a classic in capital letters. Go Stevie!
The entire band was at the top of their game but is anyone else digging that bass player 😊
Yes sir I’m listening to he bringing the beat with his smooth steady rhythm, he’s damn good ! Greetings from south east Alabama USA ☮️❤️
There is history behind us old hippies! I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!
If I could go back and relive any part of my life, this would be the period I would be most eager to revisit. ✌️ ☮️
same
Rock and Roll that will never grow old. Traffic at its best!
I will never get tired of this. It’s perfection!
I agree...one of my favourite live performances Wish I was there and I caught that tambourine!. Steve Winwood is not of this Earth .
i'm a child of the 50's. growing up i got to hear the best of our greatness in the 50's though to 2000. the music now pales and has forgotten the greatness of the bands we used to listen to. i'm surprised to see small heroes emerge for rock . even Kelly Clarkson. Who i appreciate beyond words. i loved her show where she sat with the ladies from Heart and jammed out. she still holds a torch which i hope never goes out. my heart goes out to all our heroes. to get together and forget the past to grow and save our music.
i have always loved Motown too. the new crap sucks.
A lot of young people are checking out our music of the past. Thank you, U-Tube
So blessed that I grew up during this time.
Back in '76 Stevie and I went out for pancakes at little pub in Yorkshire, best day of my life man!
A youngster today, hearing this, will ask, "What's this? I want more."
We say to them, "We were there." They will say, 'Wish we WERE there."
We were 'so rich' to grow up with this music...So very rich....
It's spiritual when the music flows and the light shines.
Wow Steve Winwood playing lead guitar I thought he was keyboard player , what a great song .
Me too 70 yes old and it's still stirs my heart
I was there.steve Winwood hit on me waving at me to come back stage in his All pink suit.i was so high on lsd I just wanted to keep dancing I under the moonlight.and that's what I did. Love you stevie*
Always liked Traffic and Steve Winwood. Ive always enjoyed his guitar playing.
Was a sophomore when this came out…thank you Lord for letting me be a teenager in without a doubt the best times ever!
What a bad ass tune
Hell yeah lost my friend of COVID three years ago Uncle Kevin. God.bless you.amem
I’m so glad I lived listening to this music so beautiful so unique
What a FABULOUS Time to Live Through! I WAS THERE!! Saw them live many times! I’m 76 now and still rockin on!
72 and still listening . We Lived thru the greatest music in the 60s and 70s.

Your "adventures " far exceeded mine. But brother, NOTHING could top Traffic of hat era. Taylor Hackford directing at the Civic. Thumps up!
Cy, it's now 2022 and eight years since your amazing comment but it remains just the kind of thing YT is about: up close and personal experiences that you're only going to find on this little corner of the internet sphere and though it's been 8 years many thanks for sharing them Traffic soul brother!
@@Nazzz65 Kindest, most generous comment I ever received on TH-cam. Mr Horan, I'll remember your words forever. My profuse thank you!
Those were the days.... Really happy with no worries. Now the whole world stinks.
I am 62 now , i have the Patience to enjoy all the Feelings they come Up when i listen to that music. The passt, the presence and the Future ist all one
Love ist Center and we are the Center and the universe. Nice start in the week ON a monday morning. Love to all of you. Greetings From the Odenwald.
Germany❤
Gen X grew up on this. I can only speak for my self. Mom and Dad smoking a joint listing to to traffic, zep, stones etc... on vinyl
My Dad is of this generation of rock and roll, seen them all, but he said when Traffic came to town there was no need for weed, trips, whatever. Cuz watching Capaldi imitating a lava lamp with his stage persona was enough to put him in the zone- and then Winwood jams like on this. What a group of musicians before us ladies and gentlemen....😮😮😮
