I can't quite believe that all the information I've spent more 2 months trying to figure out regarding MQTT; history, vision, strategy, core value proposition, sparkplug B flavor, etc, have just been demystified by Walker in less than 20 minutes. This is unbelievably jaw-dropping
More great info. Really liked the point that you made where the Broker could support all 3 cases ... MQTT 3.1.1, MQTT 5, and Sparkplug B. I did not think about that one. Thanks!
Hi walker, you mentioned in this video around 7mins in, that mqtt 5 is backwards compatible with 3.1.1, but emq website is saying it is not... Could they be referring to something else?
I definitely say this wrong and we will correct it so there isn't confusion. I mean to say it this way: 1. MQTT 5 builds on MQTT 3, it's not a rebuild of the spec, it's an extension with new features 2. Brokers are not spec aware and many of the existing brokers have implemented many elements of 5 already and we didn't even know it While MQTT 5 isn't backwards compatible for developers, it will seem like it is for consumers. Nonetheless, this statement is confusing so we will pull it out or disclaimer it.
@@walkerreynolds973 thank you very much, your opinion on ind 4.0 and iiot is at the top so if i see or hear something different, my initial impression is "they must have not seen walkers video". Thank you as always for giving top notch quality information!

It's incredibly good!
Great content. Solid framing and delivery, thank you!
Thank you Chris 🙏

Love this Channel! More Power!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks a lot, Walker Reynolds for the great insight on the MQTT basics
How does this only have 6.6k views? Gold.
Thank you!
Solid content Walker. I have lots of catching up to do.
Nice Insight for MQTT Stack!
Thank you!
love your content.
You remind me of Dean Norris (Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad)
Evolving for the industry! Architecting for the industry!
Thank you!
Excellent video as usual. Wondering why Mqtt wasn't widely adopted in 2000s and even 2010s in process and manufacturing industries with such specs.
TCP/IP didn't 'win' the protocol war until about 2010, and once that happened -- MQTT took off.
Great question Rana!
10/10 presenter
Thanks Jay!
Opto 22 is also a member of the Sparkplug B Working Group managed by the Eclipse Foundation. SpB FTW!
Thank you Benson!

There´s no data dictionary for UDT standards , so can´t be compared with OPC Comp specs
What do you mean? Of course you can have a JSON object type as a UDT Member. You can even have full on Dataset tags, list tags, you name it.
