I was very close to leaving medicine this month, I didn't match twice and was about to go for something else. Thankfully I matched but after all this I believe that my relationship with medicine will end in the future after I financially secure myself. We just end up with so much debt and years of time gone that could have been built for something else. I wish there was more pathways in medicine other than being a doctor once an MD degree is achieved.
Thank you for this video, it is really inspiring for me. Actually I 've graduated medical university in hungary. I' ve never really liked the medical field, so I've worked 2 years at an insurance company, now I am planning to quit my current job and start a coding bootcamp :). So your video really made my day :)
If med school was just divided base on body parts like Dentistry and Podiatry, maybe it would have been easier because you don't need to study the whole body. If you like Sports Medicine without studying other fields of medicine, you might want the program Doctor of Athletic Training (such course is NOT about coaching the athlete, it's about alleviating the Sports related injuries), DATs can assist in surgery once they finished residency. Universities should just rename it "Doctor of Sports Medicine" program. If you were more interested in Natural Healing then Naturopathic Med School is much more easier. Podiatry school also lets you do shoe designs specialized for people with foot problems
Nice video!! I'm in a kind of similar situation. I'm in my 4th year of med school but sometimes I think a lot about all the stressing situations and responsabilities that a doctor has to face and ask myself if I really want that for my life. My family recommends me to finish because I only have two years left and then with my degree I would afford a coding bootcamp or some career related to tech wich is a field that I’m interested about. What would you do in my case?
I think that's the best idea. You've made this gar and it would work in your benefit to gave the decree jndrf your belt. Then you'll have the rest of your life to change careers,
@@kathy5374 Yes, maybe its going to help me getting some IT & Health related job. On the other hand sometimes I think if its going to worth getting an MD degree for looking for an IT job then.
@@BabyBang17datruth yes, bootcamps are a good choice for getting into the industry asap. On the other hand I think if its better to quit med now and start a CS related career instead of continuing +2 years to get my MD degree and start my IT career from that point...... 🤷🏻♂️
Hey! Thanks for sharing your story. It’s a huge decision. I would say follow your heart. Med school won’t end there, you also need a few years before you can actually work and get paid fully as a doctor. To me - it was just not worth it anymore, I lost the passion for medicine, and I think you need to be super determined. All I can say - 2 years after - it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I wasn’t happy in med school any longer.

I know it’s so sad. I have 0 debt thank god. But i think they pay in tech is so good you might be better off anyway.
There are numerous paths outside of clinical medicine...do your research and know what's best for you

This means so much, I love knowing I can help others by sharing my journey
Thank you for letting me know ❤️🌻
I’m a neurology resident and I want to leave medicine as well! How has it been for you? I’m so miserable as a doctor and I need out 😭
Girl, same. Transitioning from medicine to tech( coding and programming) but still researching for proper step to step guidance. Let’s connect ! Xx
@@ebubechukwujerry5201have you been able to transition to tech. I'm tired of medicine

Congrats on making the switch! I did the same. Was scary but worth it. I'm glad you're much happier now in tech. Great video!
No way! I don’t know anyone who did as well
What med school did you go to?
@@MillenialDevAdi yeah small world! I went to University of Florida. I had a lot of fun there, learned a lot, but wasn't happy overall
@@logancope21 really small apparently! haha
I moved to Naples FL a few months ago
Nice video, I am leaving my law career after 2 years for UX/UI Design.
Got me motivated 😅 Thanks for sharing.
That’s great! Thanks for sharing 😊 i love hearing that more of us are doing the switch. Best of luck! 🍀
How’s that going I’ve been thinking of doing ux/ui design too or web development

That’s what I’m planning on doing. I’m a respiratory therapist and plan trying an online coding boot camp. Trying to find an avenue out of healthcare.

Good content - except maybe get a microphone. It is difficult to hear.
Thanks for the advice! Will definitely try one 💗
