I became a nurse at 18. And just turned 26 this year. And i just can't do it anymore, my mental health is fucked, social life gone and im just so burned out. I cry every time i have to clock in for work. I used to love this job, and being a nurse was all i wanted to be. But now i cant wait to run as fast as i can away from the bedside. I'm starting law school in sep, and I can't wait to leave nursing behind me.
I am soooooooooooooo glad I saw this video!!!! I have been in tech for around 4 years, and my mental health is horrible, even though I am making the most money in my life, but I have NO fulfilment whatsoever being behind a computer in a cubicle all day. I crave human interaction and to be able to see my ability/skills to help people. I am now starting my CNA program to become an CNA and work during my RN program this spring. Thank you for sharing!
I'm feeling the same way. I've been a night shift RN in a rehab hospital for almost 10 years now, and my mental and physical being is starting to suffer. It's starting to wear me out. From injuries, working long shifts, and having caught Covid from my patients 3 times now, I'm ready to step away from full-time beside nursing. I love taking care of people, but I also need to think about my own well-being. Plus, I'm trying to transfer to a remote nursing job full-time and maybe still do PRN bedside, a couple shifts per month, just for extra money. I had about 20 years office, finance, loan service, and licensed insurance agent experience prior to becoming an RN, so I can totally see myself becoming a Utilization Management RN Consultant, combining my previous skills with my nursing skills. I'm currently applying for positions right now.
I can totally resonate with that! My one time I got Covid, my patient literally spit in my face and I knew it was game over from that point on :(. I've always gotten sick from work at the bedside. I pray a remote job comes your way especially with your amazing work experience from your last career! All the best to you!
Rehab bedside is very stressful too . Especially when having to work short majority of the time . Not only you got to be a nurse and fulfill your job description but fulfill the job description as a tech as well … respiratory therapist, wound nurse do I need to keep going ? We are EVERYBODY
God made it very clear that I need to leave Tech and go to nursing. I received an acceptance from a very expensive nursing school BUT God selected me to get a 100% free tuition scholarship, books, uniform, and fees. So it is no reason for me to NOT follow God’s Will. Love your story and thanks for the 🙏🏾
I'm so glad I found your video! I have been a software engineer for over 5 years and just can't take it anymore but am scared to make the shift to nursing. Living life building pointless products behind a screen feels increasingly trivial and I crave work that have meaning. I appreciate your perspective!
Nursing is rewarding, but very challenging. Ive been a nurse for 17ys, on the same unit since graduation, all night shift, weekends!! From oncology, to medsurg, now Stroke the patients are nothing less than heavy. While the pandemic was calling all of my coworkers to travel, i stood still because i was in Acute care NP school and worked prn. I knew that floor was draining me, but after starting clinical and seeing the other side, when i went back to work, i was like oh no, Lord you gotta get me outta here!😂 Long story short, I also work Hospice inpatient unit- love it! But i just transferred my floor position to doing virtual nursing admission and discharges. So excited!! I just really need a break from the floor, and God heard my cry. Thank you for shari ng your story. Got gave us a gift to help people, but i know that he wo t give Us more than we can bare. Enjoy your journey Sis❤❤
I felt this as I am driving home from my last shift of a job that I LOVE!! PEDS ER. But in the last few weeks I realized my family needed more of me. I accepted a RN QI data analyst position. Praying it's the right choice, because like you my work has to be purposeful 🙏
What a testimony! I’m going through something similar with pharmacy tech and although I’m not in a rush to leave my current place, I know that it’s draining me and I have to find something else within the field.
Currently an inpatient nurse aid with a newly acquired master's degree in public health. Not sure if I should pursue nursing or another healthcare professional career like PT, or a career in public health AGHH. I could also use 2 months to figure ME out.
Sis im a Occupational Therapist..who works alongside PTs ( Physical Therapist )...don't even think about it..the profession absolutely sucks and tanked along time ago. No upward mobility with pay that doesn't advance/increase because fee for service has been on the decline since the 90s...its not cute over here and I'm trying to get out...I still have time (im in my late 30s) and trying to get out of therapy desperately..many of us are actively trying. Best of luck to you luv Also reddit is a good resource 🎉
You sound like a good speaker, yourself. Your syntax is notable. Just complimenting your linguistic ability like you felt the need to do that of the speaker. 😊
This is a major testimony! Bigs up to the Lord! 🙏🏾 Really showed you throughout the way and had a plan for the whole entire time. It’s nice to hear this perspective about changing careers and the real side of it!
How did you get into tech? Did you do a boot camp? Self study? Back to university? I'm an ICU nurse for 6 years and I am burnt to a crisp. Need a way out of bedside or just nursing in general. Thanks in advance!
I understand! Self study was the direction I took but I highly recommend trying to get a startup tech job first but it most likely will come with a pay cut especially if you are coming from ICU. I used the website “Built In” for job searching in that arena
This legit sounds like being a young wife and parenting to multiple little ones. lol, I love and am overwhelmed with having to be that person to them all of the time. Congratulations on Nursing, then tech then back to nursing. And then to be offered a management position!?!? God is good!
I sure would like to ask my aunt. She’s been a nurse for like 21 years. She has her MSN going for her NP. WITH SO MANY ppl leaving nursing I wonder how she does it. Is she going through things most ppl don’t know about or does she think she’s too far in to quit now
That is a great question. My mom is a nurse and I would say that I became a nurse at the start of Covid and my mom started way before Covid so I find that those who already had a foundation that was pre-Covid, then tend to stick to it. Also, it can be generational as well in terms of value systems.
Thank you for sharing this. I’m kind of feeling stuck in my nursing career as well and trying to pivot but I think fear is holding me back, I need some clarity I am impatiently waiting 😅
I'm considering becoming a nurse but I'm nervous i will fail the classes ;-; in my country to become a nurse you have to study nursing at uni and im worries that im not smart enough to pass uni-lvl-sciences Loved your story, i think i would enjoy work that has purpose too :D
I’m a new nurse in snf. And I will like to go into hospice . Admission hospice and case management which one is better? How many years of experience do I need before going to hospice?
Admission hospice nursing really requires experience in hospice to be comfortable because you have to know what hospice eligibility looks like and then educate families and pair a picture to the provider as to why they are appropriate. Case management first for sure since that’s the entry level how hospice nursing. You will learn ALOT!
I am trying desperately to leave the medical field. Could you tell me how you got a IT job? Is it possible to get a high paying IT job without experience/training?
Thank you for being so transparent! My fav part is around 3:27. When we leave bedside it’s not because we don’t care about others, we are just trying to care for ourselves too. Well said. 🩷
I obtained a certificate and also have prior experience with technology from just growing up. You have to dig deep and realize that you have done/seen more than you think.
I have a degree in nursing and it does come with some cross-over with skills but ultimately I have experience as a hobbyist doing several tech-related things (creating websites, HTML, excel, social media etc)

Sure you want to go into law?
I wish you well in your law journey!!
Omg I love to see other ppl pursuing other careers. I'm a nurse who is trying to get into pharmacy school. Best of luck to you.🎉🎉
Check out anesthesiologist assistant. It might be a great opportunity for you since you’re already a nurse.
Wow! Why law? I have an accounting degree and tossing between nursing or law school or both
I feel this exact way. I don’t know where or how to go but I know I can’t do bedside or anything hands on anymore. I’m burned out to an ash! 😂
I am soooooooooooooo glad I saw this video!!!!

I hope it goes well and I’m glad this was helpful! Human interaction is sooo important so I get it 😇

Go for it. I’m rooting for you 🎉
It’s ashamed how some people think you’re selfish if you care about your own well being first… 🙄🙄🙄
I'm trynna tell you!
That’s literally being selfish though. The question now is “why’s being selfish a bad thing?” 🤔
@@themonsterwithin4000being selfish means the desire to take from others.. she’s not being selfish at all
You took a chance & tried something new . Glad you realized where you’re meant to be !
Absolutely! Thank you ☺️

Wow, What a testimony! Your path is yours to take!
This is amazing! I’m interested in nursing but the cost is causing me to pause, could you share how you were able to get scholarships?
Love this
i respect you not being scared to pivot!! i’m also a l&d nurse and ready to leave the bedside life too! i’m ready for a work life balance
You got this!! I’m glad I did labor but I’m glad it’s the past.

Thank you for sharing your story! I’ve always considered hospice inpatient because I’ve only heard good things about it.
Kudos for trying something new! The good thing about nursing is that it's a life long career, once you have your license you can always go back
Very true!!!

I am a Data Analyst in healthcare going into Nursing LOL. :)
There's no job for us techs so yeah you're doing the right thing.
I am also a data analyst, I would like to use this skill in the medical health sector. Glad to see someone who shares the vision with me.

Oh nice! Did you learn a lot with the boot camp? I’m interested in doing one for further education.

Yes. This is the one
beautifully said!
I’m so confused. Do you have a background in tech? How did you get the job
I obtained a certificate and also have prior experience with technology from just growing up. You have to dig deep and realize that you have done/seen more than you think.
Are you taking about IT or a patient came tech scrub tech...
Hi Olivia, you’ve got a new subscriber
Nothing wrong with Tech.
This is so random but your voice/Tone reminds me of Sanna Lathan. Great video by the way 💯.
You think so?! Now I need to hear more of her voice!
So how did you get into tech? They offered to teach you stuff ?
Yes they did. Start up companies are a great way to get your foot in the door.
Good info. @timewithlivi I would love to know how you made the transferable skills stand out on your resume!
That part!we have to care about us too❤
Congratulations girl!💞 I am happy to hear that you found your place in the nursing field! Thats awesome! God is good ain't He! Blessings ~
Still figuring it out! God is so good🫶🏾
I’ve spent almost 6 years in tech collectively and I actually want to go back to school to become a nurse instead
All the best to that transition!!!
How do you get a tech job without a degree?
I have a degree in nursing and it does come with some cross-over with skills but ultimately I have experience as a hobbyist doing several tech-related things (creating websites, HTML, excel, social media etc)
What was the tech job?
Expert Consultant for a start up tech company
Black goddess herself.
Lots of people are in nursing for the wrong reason… I have been a nurse for 34 years and love it!!!
The entire system is broken. We must change it.
Tech is a hot mess right now. 😩
I see! It’s super sad for those that lost their job.
Won’t He do it?!!!
Have you thought of nursing informatics?
Yes I have! Just never got an opportunity to do it.
Are you me?
Maybe you are one of the people that were laid off from tech.
Lol no not at all. It’s called “quiting”.
