They said that it’s hard to communicate with them because their english is very poor, although I’d ve liked them to hear something about them it makes sense that it’s gonna be hard
I'm exhausted just from watching you two, let alone the Kenyans, no idea how you managed it! Looks like you had a great time, they really are amazing powerhouses 💪🏻
This was incredible to watch! What a beautiful place, and an incredible experience that must have been. I've always been uncertain as to the value of sponsored teams. I now realize that, in order to compete on the world stage, they're critical. Most talented runners i know of have to have a job to support themselves, and sometimes have a family to tend to. If the incredible Kenyans are able to focus 100% on their training, and more importantly on their recovery/ down time between demanding workouts, it would be practically impossible to compete with that level of 100% dedication to training without being a fully sponsored athlete. Food for thought...
Lol...99% of the people on this planet would not be able to become an elite long distance runner EVEN if they were fully sponsored and did not have any other responsibilities in life. GENETICS is the most important thing, and if you don't have the genetics to become elite, you will NEVER reach that level no matter how much you train.
Wish I could give this a thumbs up twice. After reading Running the the Kenyans and Out of Thin air. The running culture in Kenya and Ethiopia is totally mental. What seems like entire countries of Olympic standard runners. If anyone has to read 2 x Running books, these are the ones I would recommend.
Its crazy how the logic of running for the Kenyans works ... Ideally .. when u train for something .. u try to simulate what u training for, in training like a batsman from cricket, footballers training as close to match like intensity Theese kenyans train at altitude and come down heere at sea level where the oxygen is more plentiful and " what they training for " is literally easier than race The kenyans will be dominating long distance running for a long time
🙏Towards the end of video, I love how he asked about “family “ I can tell Family is very important to u. That’s exactly the way it should be. Balance and knowing the need of investing in your relationships*❤
What an awesome video. That could have been longer and still interesting…although Mo and James were probably too wiped out to film much more. Huge respect.
What an experience, and what a lot of work these guys are putting in! A follow-up with Andy, about how this training compared to his back in the day, would be very interesting. I get the feeling that these guys are putting in more hours and miles than the pros used to, but is that perception correct?
Thanks for sharing. Good edit. Well presented and a decent amount of humility shown. Not intending on that being patronising. By the sounds of it it had a really positive impact on you both. Why not both of you do the half marathon. Would be good to see how you both approach it and may make for an even better feature.
Just imagine you have been running with some absolute elite runners in the world. And half of them are just not good enough to make it into the Kenian WL team.
What's the difference between intervals and the fartlek session? In this case the intervals were a shorter distance, higher tempo and the fartlek was for 3 minutes on with 1 minute off, so a longer time and probably lower tempo (although still reeeaally fast). From other videos of TRC I understood that the fartlek run is just a run, where you change your tempo frequently - in comparison to a steady zone 2 / zone 3 run. They often made examples like "speed up to the next road crossing", which sounds like there is no structured interval in it, just as you go and how you feel on that day. In this video, the fartlek sounds just like an interval session with longer intervals to me?
Brothers, how do you sign up for a 2/3 weeks training camp with these elite runners like including stay, is there such package available once you arrive there in Kenya? This would be my dream to learn from them
Really enjoyed seeing Mo put to the test, I always picture him pacing someone else to help with their own pb but this was all about him (and James obv)
Shorter torso's...longer limbs...there achilles tendons are longer than any other race..they genetically store less fat too..then throw in high altitude atmosphere statiscally the best...this also applies to Ugandans & Ethiopians..however west africans (nigeria, ghana >>> U.S blacks/Jamaicans) dont have these genetics- they tend to b mre muscular (sprinting, boxing e.t.c)
Hé Mo, is there a video coming on you completing the Tokyo marathon? I also ran Tokyo this year, and believe i saw you during the run. Would be nice to see your experience during that marathon. Keep it up!
The Idea of waking up at 5.20am for a speed session is displeasing to me. Severely...!! 😁😁 As for which presenter should tackle a half marathon later in the year, I'm Team Jess all the way. Although Tom would be pretty cool too. Hell! Have them both run it, blow the budget 😉
What an awesome opportunity for you two--and an awesome video you've made out of it!🙌I'd love to find out more about the training diet you and the athletes were eating at the 42 House. Did you learn about how closely they track and match their carb, protein and energy intake et al to their training? Or is their strategy simpler than that?🤔Just curious!
I went to Uganda and couldn't run for more than 6K in the whole time I was there (6 months), Its tough in the heat and higher elevation (but not as high as yours - its like 2000m). I usually run 20K weeks in and out but not in the heat! :) Would have loved a longer video or multiple videos of Kenya - very expensive 15 minutes I think - or you wanted a holiday to Kenya! 😂
I also can't run when I'm not fasted, I tried once and ended up vomiting. Well actually I can't have food in my stomach if I'm trying to do any form of exercises even walking.
The big difference between running in the UK and Kenya is that for them, running is their only chance to make a decent living. There is very little recreational running in these areas, the only people running are those trying to make it internationally. Here, running is fun, there it's everything.
You're mad seek a psychiatrist that's how madness kicks in... Running is not the only thing done here in Iten we do farming and business in ELDORET town... Where did you get that madness that runners in Iten their only hope is running🤔
never showed what they ate. The diet, most important aspect is missed out. I guess The Running Channel needs a better director. The juice of the video is missed out, like seriously?
kindly less of you videoing yourselves and more of the other athletes working out or running. You can voice them as you show what they are doing rather than us looking at your faces while something else is going on. my opinion.
The use of doping is very important in Kenya, no one will ever be tested in their country, their government protects their athletes at all costs. Don't be so gullible!
It’s a shame we didn’t get to hear from the athletes. All we got was five words from the coach but the rest was just you talking.
❤😂😊❤
They said that it’s hard to communicate with them because their english is very poor, although I’d ve liked them to hear something about them it makes sense that it’s gonna be hard
“If I tried to keep up with them I’d be on the news for ….. dying” 😅😂

Same. I agree 😂

I can see Amos kipkemoi there. Congratulations for winning 10k yesterday Nairobi marathon with incredible time
It is so incredible how diligent the athletes are. Kudos to you guys for training with them.
What a treat. Having an opportunity to train with top athletes can raise your vibration to increase your own performance. Kool secession.
They have a passion for running. Look at all the smiles they had on their faces. Running if life for them

Crazy levels of dedication, very inspiring

I love it. It's the way everyone should live regardless of ability
Excellent video, amazing to see the level these athletes are at and the joy they have for their sport.
Great video! Insane to see the level of dedication the Kenyans put in to get to that level.
AWE-SOME! Thanks guys!!
You caught the (6pm) rains down in Africa!

Brilliant video, so inspiring. I think Rick should do the half marathon 😁
Now that's some serious dedication and discipline!

Are training camps to Kenya open for the general public, how can I find out more info?

which go-pro u use for vlogging
15 minutes for a trip to Kenya? This needed to be split into at least 15 mins per day you were there. Do it over 3 videos
Pls update their food quantity and sleep 🇮🇳👍🙏😊
Thank you.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing the journey and congrats on surviving!
This is so cool!
They literally only eat Whole Foods plant based high carb which is awesome
Just seen what they eat whilst eating a pudding of sticky toffee pudding with loads of cream.. better start upping my game
More like Training With Kenyan ELITES For 48 seconds :P
hi I am from India I want to join your traning centre for may month 30 days.will you training me
8:36 Dw James I can't reach any further even as a sub 20 5k runner.......
If you wake up at 5.20-5.30 and go straight for a run, when do you manage to poop?
After the workouts done 😂
What pace are thy doing? …fast
Next time I suggest that you stay there for 2-3 weeks to get somthing out of it :)
So they run 3 times a day?
What was your schedule? My concern is mainly about the morning coffee? Are you running on empty stomach? ‘Joy of running’! 👏👏
We always did fasted running in the morning, so no coffee until afterwards
@@runningchannel now that’s a challenge 😐
I assume even with filtered coffee before the workout, this would still be considered fasted.

Do women train at the camp you stayed in or is it just for men?
There were women in the vlog 🎉
What was there slow pace ?
The way they warmup and do sessions in leggings and jackets 😅
Do you know roughly what pace the Kenyans were running for that easy run 8k ?
Roughly 8-9min/miles
