Sonic Team already said they wanted to bring him back, but didn't know how.
Considering Shadow Gens is about his past endevors, there's a huge chance we will see Mephiles. Also, even though Speed Battle and Dash are mobile games, they brought him in as a playable character. He even has a plush and action figure too.
If not in SxShG, maybe the next mainline game. The stakes would be extremely high and things would get very dark! I'd love every bit of it.
Mephiles the Dark is one of the best things to come out of Sonic 06. I really like his design. How he starts off looking like Shadow but with glowing green eyes and how he moves sort of like a zombie to make Shadow feel on edge in their first encounter. And then his 2nd form with the jagged crystal-like quills and the detached arms. He looks both creepy and cool. And the way Dan Green voiced him giving him a sinister tone and that haunting laugh. And the powers Mephiles possesses are very interesting. Being able to steal one’s appearance and powers from their shadow. Being able to travel through time and space whenever he pleases. And having control over the literal darkness itself. Not to mention that no matter how many times you destroy his corporeal form, he always returns.
But what makes Mephiles a very memorable villain to me is how he’s portrayed. Sure he could simply eliminate Sonic immediately or make Elise cry himself to unseal Iblis. But there’s no fun in that for him. Having someone from a doomed future do that instead is more entertaining to him. And he tries to get to Shadow and break him mentally to get revenge on him sealing him away originally. He wants to crush the spirits of his enemies before destroying them. But ultimately he’s pure evil. Like Shadow states, his only end goal is to fuel Iblis and Solaris till there’s nothing left of time itself. And that’s why he’s honestly a very terrifying villain. He can’t be destroyed or reasoned with. He has no remorse or sympathy.
Really, the only reason he was stopped in 06 was because Sonic and Elise had to erase Solaris from the timeline completely. But even then, I feel like Mephiles could easily be brought back in a future game. Who knows, maybe he’ll appear in Sonic X Shadow Generations for Shadow’s campaign. Only time will tell.

the whole point of him looking like shadow initially is to show how mysterious he is, and that he is almost "shapeless", that he uses the forms of others to disguise himself.

After seeing the Sonic 3 trailer, people think you can’t get anything close to Shadow’s introduction into a Sonic Cinematic Universe… but when you realize that one of the games Sega is allowing them to adapt is 06 and boy, you can bet who the villain in that one is going to be. 😏
I can see Clancy Brown in the role. He sounds similar to Dan Green's portrayal.
Just goes to show how exaggerated opinions can get. I initially believed what people said about the game, but after getting the opportunity to play it myself I realize just how wrong I was. I let myself get caught up in the collective unconscious that is the internet, and let them decide the quality of a game for me. The game is obviously not perfect, but it's nowhere near as bad as some people would have you believe. The bugs and glitches that supposedly defined this game, never once in the entirety of my two playthroughs did I encounter one. This game isn't my favorite from the series, and Mephiles is far from my favorite character, but this game has way more value that needs to be appreciated.
Thats true, the worst glitch for me was getting stuck to the walls with Knuckles and Rouge but other than that I didn’t encounter any massive game breaking bugs.
I agree and same honestly! I bought it on ps3 a few years ago because I was curious and wondered how bad it truly was and surprisingly really enjoyed it especially the local co op! It's definetely my favorite mainline Sonic game unironically! It has my favorite soundtrack from the whole series, favorite local multiplayer mode, favorite level design (sad it's hindered by the controls and a few bugs here and there but I genuinely believe the level design at least in the Sonic story is good for the most part), I also liked silver and Shadow's stories and Mephilies is my favorite villain in the entire series. And I also even liked Silver's gameplay. I thought it was a cool idea and like to ride cars and boxes with him. I wish the other characters were playable more but I liked that they were at least playable in some shape or form. And also I liked the varied level themes as well. Obviously the game isn't perfect though since the controls could've been better, most town missions and town maps were bad, game was clearly unfinished and could've had more polish and the Elise kiss scene was messed up. I do enjoy replaying the stages in the trial mode and multiplayer modes though. That's where most of my enjoyment of the game is. By the way, the only bugs I ever encountered while playing the game are: being sometimes stuck on the bridge in Wave Ocean speed section, being stuck on some walls with Knuckles and Rouge and sometimes not landing on the rail at the start of the Crisis City multiplayer level (it's fixed by mashing the circle button for some wierd reason though). Other than that, the other glitches I encountered were my fault since I abused the game on purpose aka kicking the box to fly or using the cyan gem to go trough doors I wasn't supposed to.
This is why 06 is the best. It's always gonna be my favorite game! I still even have the disc!

Honestly I see a lot of people overlooking this but nobody was expecting Black doom to come back so I’m surprised I don’t see more people expecting Mephiles in Shadow Generations, like it’s definitely likely we’ll see him now since we have 2 06 stages in Generations
When can we expect a Multiverse story to happen in Sonic cybernetics
Would be sometime after the next story arc, Sonic Aftermath. But I’m very much still in the brainstorming phase for a multiverse story.
yo its me, The Eggman Nega guy! i recently made a new account that's why i havent been on the old one, but anyways i wanted to say honestly mephiles is my favorite sonic villain as well, It's also insane how apparently sonic team is considering bringing him back. Mephiles gave off this creepy entity creature vibe that just felt so much different from the other villains for some reason. Im really hoping he returns in shadow generations... besides if they do decide to bring him back in the future it would be interesting to see him encounter sonic again knowing sonic's memories from 06 were almost completely erased technically. I feel like it would be in interesting conversation of mephiles telling sonic how he killed him and sonic not remembering any of that and he some how has an amnesia type of fashback of him being lazered.
There is a possibility that we might actually get to see Mephiles on the big screen in one of the future live-action Sonic movies, because the list of Sonic games that Sega is allowing Paramount to adapt copyrighted source material from into those movies does have Sonic the hedgehog 2006 written on it, so that game is truly one of the ones that are allowed to get a theatrical movie adaption!
I honestly believe that Mephiles could have been lying to Shadow about his future and just injured Omega to make it look real. Mephiles is one of the most accurate portrayals of an actual demon outside of explicitly Christian tv, so completely lying wouldn't be out of the question for him to do.

I think that Mephiles and Black Doom's voices should be swapped.
One of my favorite Sonic villains is Zavok and no I'm not joking. From his design to how ruthless he is. Despite the abuse, he still stood up to Eggman whenever he could and remained cunning. Sending all the others out to battle Sonic so he could learn more about him. As soon as the conch shell was out of the way, him and the rest of his squad seized the opportunity to betray the doctor. Afterwards it was always a matter of getting revenge on Eggman and doing so in the most painful way possible, with his own creations. Slowly sucking the life out if his world and using it to strengthen them while controlling his own army. Sonic was nothing more than a gnat in the way of that plan, but upon seeing how powerful he truly is Zik presented the idea of turning him into their weapon. Zavok used the knowledge he gained from observing Sonic to capture him, how he was too quick to action when he knocked the shell away. Making a fake animal capsule to trick Sonic into jumping on, which actually would've worked if Tails hadn't jumped in the way.
From there he just plucks off his friends, killing Amy and Knuckles (to Sonic), Eggman seemingly getting killed by Zazz and Zomom later, and turning Tails into a robot to kill Sonic with. He could've just tried to kill Sonic, but he wanted to mentally kill him before physically doing so. Dude just taunting him about Tails' robotization and when he thinks Amy and Knuckles are gone. And the things he says leading up to his fights, telling Sonic to just lie down and die as everyone around him are already gone. That he'll savor every scream Sonic makes and feast on his fear, even admitting that his constant persistence is admirable. Saying he'd respect Sonic if he didn't hate him so much. Never said he's the best Sonic villain or that everything is portrayed perfectly in Lost World cause it isn't, Lost World has issues with its story and they aren't because it's simple. His manipulation is showed though only a couple times in game but it's shown more in the comics.
Why am I even talking about this under a Mephiles video? Idk guess you mentioning how people jump on the hate wagon of things was a very good description of how people act towards the Deadly Six. If they so much as see them in anything, even a cameo, they groan and act as though they should be erased from Sonic completely. Just reminded me of how Mephiles and Zavok actually share more personality traits than people would like to admit. I like Mephiles a bunch two, I think they're both great. The rest of the six are just fun wacky antagonists which Sonic is allowed to have sometimes and Zavok is a great villain on his own. They all don't deserve the ridiculous hate they get.
I definitely don’t think they should be erased, i think they need another game with either Zavok or all of them coming back as villains. I may not like lost world nearly as much as other games but I don’t think they’re bad characters.
@@soniccreations Well that's very refreshing to hear and I agree, they should. But therein lies the issue, most people in this community would lose their minds if they came back as main villains again. They already lose it when they're so much as mentioned in something, they don't even want them appearing in spin offs. It's just ridiculous, they can never become better or expanded upon if they're never allowed to appear again. I like Lost World, both versions but it's not perfect and I'll ofc admit its mistakes.
@chrange9714 yeah I’d say that certainly not fair and I think that that’s the number one reason we want to see villains come back, to give them another chance to do something new and be a bigger threat and a better villain. That’s what I want for Mephiles, so that’s the same I’d want for the Deadly Six as well.
@@soniccreations Exactly, but unfortunately a lot of people refuse to give the six that chance but they'll give every other villain it. They could even expand upon their lore now explaining what the Zeti really are, why there's only six of them left, and how did this mini planetoid the Lost Hex come to be in the sky. Once had this head canon that the Chao (back then Ancients) and Zeti race were at war with each other thousands of years ago but in the aftermath all the Zeti were wiped out except for the Deadly Six. Mostly made it from one of Zavok's lines in TSR where he says he despises Chao. Always loved in the Metal Virus story where he'd grow massive with the power of the emeralds and Super Sonic and Super Silver had to take him down, that was awesome.
I'd love to see stuff like this in the games but nah apparently they're "bad" for merely showing up lol. I'm sure you already know this but in the original script for Forces Mephiles was a phantom clone Infinite created. Seems he was cut early on though and I'm kinda glad he was as he probably wouldn't have spoken at all. Mephiles really isn't a villain you can just have be there as a side goon or just appear as a boss and leave. That's a reason why I'm not expecting him to be in Shadow Gens because he's a character you'd have be big in the plot, not one to just show up, Shadow fights him, then that's it. If he is there and they make that work, cool, I'm just not expecting him to appear. Would be very cool if they do the whole Time Eater is really a Mephiles after the whole 06 wipe though.
Zavok is actually kinda badass in the idw comics he’s basically the Bane of the sonic verse yeah he’s a brute but he’s smart and cunning just like Bane

i feel that just having all this Sonic 06 stuff in Generations is nice, it might not bring it to its full potential, especially Mephiles. just having him as a sorta side character or boss wouldnt do him justice.
Also, Mephiles says that in the future the world betrays Shadow, making an excuse out of Iblis, to capture Shadow.
i think it would be pretty cool if this happened at some point, leading into Mephiles appearing again, as if to say i told you so

Oh yeah here are my ideas about how the timeline will work in Sonic 06 I'll try my best to easily explained it as much as possible so here's my concept of what a timeline is it is referred to as a stream or a river that contains every event of our past and our future and if you were to swim upstream or going back in time you are not necessarily changing the original past of that stream or our present because what you are truly doing is splitting the stream or splitting the timeline and every time you split the original timeline this doesn't affect our present timeline because our present still exist all you're doing is you just created another stream with a different events playing out from the main stream that coexist along the main timeline so now that timeline can be called a split canon like for example if Sonic were to go back in time to save princess Elise from dying she would still be dead in the original timeline but now in this split timeline that's Sonic made sure Elise is alive in this timeline and another example if Shadow and silver were to go back in time like Shadow stopping Mephiles or silver with Ibis now Shadow and silver split the timeline together and maybe in that's timeline that's where Mephiles and Ibis are sealed by Shadow and silver and then silver gave Elise the chaos emerald but what if they didn't go back in time to stop Mephiles and Ibis and maybe in that timeline that's how we get the bad future of 06 because that's why Mephiles and Ibis exist in the future because of Shadow and silver not sealing them but maybe in the original timeline someone else sealed Mephiles and Ibis instead of Shadow and silver maybe it's a character we didn't know before that sealed both of them which explains why Shadow doesn't know who Mephiles is because he never sealed him to begin with
So here are some of my timelines here in Sonic 06
For sonics story
timeline 1 Elise is still dead and without her being around Ibis would have remain sealed along with her in the afterlife and Mephiles never gets to fuse with ibis so eggman kind of save the day in this timeline without knowing it and thanks to Elise being dead Mephiles never fuse with ibis and there will still be a good future in this timeline because of eggman because without Ibis being around shadow can reseal Mephiles back into the sphere of darkness and then the story for this timeline would have a good ending to it and the future would have thrived
timeline 2 Sonic went back in time to save Elise but Sonic died by Mephiles to make Elise cry to unleash Ibis and fuse with it to become Solaris then everyone gets 7 chaos emeralds and Sonic Shadow and silver save the Day but what if instead of Sonic blowing out the flame have Sonic use chaos control to seal the flame in a separate dimension where no one can access it and using it ever again and timeline 1 for shadow story is connected to this timeline which explains why he doesn't know Mephiles and then the timeline would have been restored back to the way it was before Solaris was eating them then Sonic and Elise would still know each other
Timeline 3 Sonic went back to the point where's Solaris is just a flame and after he put that flame out the timeline has split again where the Solaris project never happened and Elise not knowing who Sonic is and Mephiles and Ibis don't exist in this timeline
And here are some for shadow and silver story
Timeline 1 someone else sealed Mephiles and Ibis not Shadow and silv which explains why Shadow doesn't know Mephiles to begin with or someone else gave Elise the chaos emerald and it's connected to sonic story in timeline 2 after he saved Elise
timeline 2 Shadow and silver went back in time to seal Mephiles and Ibis so in this timeline Shadow should already know who Mephiles is which explains why he wants revenge against Shadow
timeline 3 Shadow and silver never sealed Mephiles and Ibis which explains why we got the bad future in the first place and maybe in that future Mephiles never wanted to be with ibis again for some reason maybe just to relish in the destruction that Ibis caused and the most of humanity or mobians are either dead or evacuated the city or Ibis has grown to strong to the point that Mephiles can't fuse with ibis in this state and after silver sealed ibis within Elise in timeline 2 then silver went back to timeline 3 to seal ibis but blaze has to do that instead of silver which should lead to everything getting repaired after the mess ibis has caused

@dr.ivorobotnik8910 Not true at all. I did it because he’s the villain in almost every single sonic story out there and I wanted to do something different for the entire run of my show. Giving characters like Eggman Nega, Infinite, Fang, Mecha Sonic more time in the spotlight. And he makes a flashback appearance in Sonic Cybernetics. My story is in no way shape or form trying to be something official, my intention has always been to do my own thing.

You killed my favorite character, and you replaced him with his useless descendant. The only thing I hope in this series, is when Eggman will be taken more seriously and WHEN EGGMAN WILL COME BACK ALIVE. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings but needed to say it.
@dr.ivorobotnik8910 Thats okay, I’m not offended. I understand. Eggman is one of my favorite characters as well, as I’m sure he is for most fans. I never intended Eggman Nega to replace Eggman. He’s more so his own character with his own story to tell separate from Eggman. As for Eggman coming back anything is possible and so it’s not that I don’t have plans, it’s just there are so many stories I’m working on for the future and I wanna make sure that if and when he returns it’s done right. I just don’t wanna spoil anything and give anything away.
Truth is, people who hated the 2000s' Sonic direction, used 06 by exagerrating every problems about it to push their agenda and they got what they wanted. What they did not expect is their direction would demoralize most of the fans. I would welcome an 06 anytime over a Sonic Colors, Sonic lost World or a Sonic Boom. I prefer a game with actual content over a cringe childish mess.
That’s the thing about the “dark age sonic games” shit actually got real u have this mischievous Demi god who’s straight up play through time as he pleases and web weaving all the events to happen and then when he had enough he was just like alright I’ll do it myself and killed Sonic I still feel like Sonic should’ve went out fighting instead of getting blindsided but it is what it is
