It's totally possible I misinterpreted Shadow not having Chaos Powers, Iizuka/Ian have said he needs an emerald to use Chaos Control so I assumed Doom powers would replace it. I've also been told he *does* use Chaos Spear before it's turned into Doom Spear, which is interesting. There's clearly parts of the story we don't know yet.
Well, if Sonic can defeat perfect chaos without turning super, Shadow doing the same thing with Metal overlord is not out of the ordinary.
I feel like Metal Overlord is a lot stronger than Perfect Chaos considering how many super-charged characters were needed to defeat him

This trailer was pretty cool. also, the desert/pyramid stage is actually the underground section from Park Avenue/Sunset Heights lol

I love everything you mentioned, except remove Mephiles and replace that rival boss with Sonic or Silver.
Make Black Doom the final boss, and once you defeat the Time Eater in Sonic’s campaign, it unlocks a Last Story which reveals the Time Eater IS Mephiles.
@@BoyleVoices I had a very similar idea but I find it very weird to have Mephiles be the surprise villain when this game has a huge emphasis on Black Doom so far but I love your idea of a last story being unlocked once you beat both games.

Yup, Chaos is part of why I felt confident saying that! I like that you categorized the first three as rival fights, makes sense too because they're scale to Shadow
I think it could work if Mephiles showed up in his 06 form for a fake-out rival fight like Eggman in the Dragoon before you fight the Time Eater in the very end

I think he can use Chaos Control without the emeralds, it just doesn't work as well, cause it functions off the chaos energy his body naturally produces, whereas the others are too intensive or something.
Theory: Some Doom creature or something messes with time and mixes the stages. That would explain why Metal Overlord is in the space port.
It seems like Black Doom himself can control the time gears (like at the very beginning of the trailer)

This trailer sold me on the game. Also, the soundtrack is once again arguably the best part, which is saying something given how fun the gameplay looks. Also, Doom Surf has Shadow riding on a manta ray, a.k.a. a devil ray.

Finally someone who notices Doom Ride. Shadow riding a motorbike as a doom power feels too perfect a choice and "Doom Ride" fits with the naming convention of the other doom powers. Hopefully it isn't just a billboard.

I'm beyond happy that we're seeing cool Sonic stuff. It's incredible to see Sega actually do something with Shadow again. All it took was one end credit from the second Sonic movie for people to get extremely hyped, and Sega was like, "Wait, people still care about Shadow...? We need to capitalise on this!!" Pretty sad that it took them over a decade to realize that, but hey, we're getting awesome Sonic content again, so that's what matters.

Technically, Shadow’s level in “City” Zone is Enemy Territory. Sunset Heights is Sonic’s level in “City” Zone.
But like, who cares, Sunset Heights is a way better name than “City”.
Also, I’m referring to the area that all of the levels are featured in. Which is called “City”. For some reason.
I think the comics reveal that the real name is Sunset City but for some reason in Forces it’s just City.

My expectations for this thing have already been blown out of the water, likes its so creative on top of celebrating whats come before. like ive always wanted classic shadow but i think this is so much for fitting and rewarding and just RAD than that would ever be. Because this does call back to all of his past in action packed polished (i pray i pray) moments. Like when you mentioned the wings playing like the paraglider it all clicked like, these are just full sublimations of his character in lore and gameplay, the vehicles the powers the weapons his relation to doom, its ALL mixed together to innovate. Sighhh.. this is just a dream come true and im hoping to god it lands perfectly 😭😭😭
The game looks dangerously slick.. even the demo didn't seem to have any issues with it but it seemed very early into the game

I looked at gameplay and the chaos spear has a different effect so doom spear must be an upgraded form. That underground area that no one can tell what it is has forces enemies so it might be sunset heights underground.(the I always thought that rocket was built by Eggman)
They took enemies from every game for the different levels. I would have though they would do the same in shadow gens because they had moto bug in green hill and egg pawn in seaside hill unleashed robots in rooftop run etcetera
Maybe it was built by Eggman! I sort of got the impression he made an existing Government base into his own but I could be wrong.
For the Chaos Spear its probably because you use Chaos Spear with the Biolizard specifically for the boss fight, and get it as an unlockable after it

Ian & Iizuka literally stated he needs an emerald in an interview/podcast. You can look this up I'm not just making this up. It's also possible Shadow does have an emerald and we just don't know about it
Looks like my prediction about Shadow generations exploring shadows past and future might be true, but I don't see where else you would take a time travel story after you've done past only the first time.
People keep pointing out that Classic Sonic technically went to the future (and Crisis City is always the future) so essentially the future travel has always been there! I think it's a brilliant idea.
I wish Knuckle hade these cool abilities just though this awesome still for Shadow
The Doom Spear is an upgrade to the normal chaos spear shadow uses. You can see him use it in game in the Space Colony Ark gameplay demo they had.
Something to note: When the "black arms egg" as you described it breaks open, you can barely see the background of the Time Eater fight. You can distinctly see one of the turning gears from it at the top of the opening

I think that the radical highway is a tutorial background, as the gameplay in it seems to center around the doom powers

Considering this story takes place at the same time as Generations which is before Forces, that’s actually possible.
If you tell my past self that Shadow would turn into a symbiote-like creature and that SEGA would bring back Black Doom and Metal Overlord, I would just straight up laugh at you.
Fast forward to Present Day, I'm now shocked as all hell at how much 2000s era Sonic content we're getting from just a mere "remaster." I'm super excited for Sonic X Shadow Generations. I hope this game succeeds so that it may give Sonic Team and SEGA more confidence into utilizing their other characters and lore. The fact they even remembered Emerl of all characters is like winning the lottery.
I find Emerl especially impressive because he came from a HANDHELD game. It's so cool to see him in a big budget animation. I really, really hope they give lines to Metal Overlord. Base Generations didn't give the bosses voices but I think they're willing to do that with all the other stuff they're trying
i dont think they're going into the future, i think its just that shadow's part in generations is entirely separate and happening *now* and just like sonic generations took stages from its most recent game at the time (colours) so can shadow gens pull from recent games too like forces and frontiers.

Asteroid Coaster would be insanely neat since Colors DS doesn't get referenced at all. It's also one of (if not) my favorite locations in Colors. Shadow with a frenzy Wisp could be amazing.

The first thing I noticed was Chaos Island from frontiers and was and still am legit so confused. Don't get me wrong, its awesome and looks cool, but why is it there? If I had to guess it probably takes place after frontiers and forces since those levels are there but idk
Crisis City was from a future that was erased, so it's perfectly reasonable to have locations from the future appear. Although I have no idea why they chose a level from a game Shadow isn't even in

Crazy how this is basically just a whole new game tacked on to generations. A lot would have bought the gens remaster already, but this feels like it’s possibly doubling the game size. They honestly probably could have gotten away with this being a standalone
It's crazy because in an interview Iizuka was pretty humble when asked about the campaign length. He said it wasn't as long as Sonic's story but had "a good chunk" of gameplay. I wonder if the game is somehow shorter than it looks? The Summer Games Fest demo alone was ~14 minutes long for just *one* act and a boss fight.
Either way I hope he was just trying to control expectations and the game is actually a triple S tier banger

I dont have my hopes up, but we need a few updates on the Sonic side: a Frontiers level for modern Sonic. Maybe one more additional level like Starlight Carnival. Then classic Sonic having Flying Battery (Maina style) and a Sonic Advance level in the 16/32bit look with a GBA skin of Sonic or Sonic Rush skin. And it would be awesome if you could get a Frontiers skill tree Modern Sonic option
Bruuuh Flying Battery Act 2 would look like pure eye candy in this engine 🤩🤩 I would actually appreciate new Sonic levels so so much, feels like the perfect opportunity to bring in the 3DS content.
reason why chaos island and other city of forces is basically a similar reference to Sonic 06 Time travel. crisis city is like 200 years old.

I think that the reason why shadow wouldn't use his powers after this game (as in the doom powers) is because he would give them up to cut his ties with black doom. So that's how they keep shadow from breaking the power curve too much, while also establishing how powerful black doom is, but since black doom is already dead in the timeline, him being buffed up doesn't cause any issues.
I think it's cool if it's a one-time power-up for him similar to Super Sonic 2. It's fitting he'd need to be overpowered since he has to fight Black Doom, Biolizard & Metal Overlord all in one game.
@DolphynsDeck I'm wondering if they might give shadow some kind of "final doom" form or if they might just have him go super for the final boss. If they do go the "cutting ties" route then having him use black doom's power in the final boss (who's probably devil doom or something) could feel like it undermines the message a bit. But also how would he get ahold of the emeralds to go super with since sonic's already grabbing them for his own final boss. Did they agree to joint custody or something?

@@dark_nightwing_xl2797 The temple looking pillars doesn’t give me that feel. I don’t recall pillars being in City/Sunset Heights. Not to mention there’s also another very similar looking area that does more remind me of Sunset Heights. When Shadow kicks up the Alien into the air, and you see three different cuts in that scene.
It probably is the same level from their similar looks, but I still didn’t get a Sunset Heights feel from the pillars. Are those in the original level?

That's what I was thinking at first but the interior of that level is stone-like and this is more glossy and metallic which makes sense since the pyramid is a base for modern technology.
There are Forces enemies in that area. It's definitely Sunset Heights
Also it maybe possible that for a second phase you fight Metal Overlord using the Doom Wings to recreate the original battle like how in Sonic Gens Egg Dragoon has a original boss fight with the skydiving section taken right out of Unleashed

Everyone as far as I'm aware really liked the designs of the robots in Forces, that was never an issue. The issue people had was that there was little variety of them in the game, you had two variants of Egg Pawns, Buzz Bombers, Moto Bugs that are barely even in the game same with Choppers, Egg Tanks, Sand worms, and these bird robots that dropped bombs, then the Egg Walkers and these little flying guys who also dropped bombs. That was it. Shadow Gens enemy variety is exactly in line with base Gens which was great idk why you said it isn't.
Moto Bugs, Buzzers, Buzz Bombers, Crab Meats, and Choppers in Green Hill. Spinies and Grabbers in Chemical Plant. Eggrobos in Sky Sanctuary. Those police monkey guys and Spinners in Speed Highway. Gun Hunters and Beetles in City Escape. Egg Pawns with spears and guns in Seaside Hill. Iblis Minions in Crisis City. Egg Fighters, Launchers, and those flying gun shaped guys in Rooftop Run. And construction Egg Pawns, Sand worms, and Buzzers in Planet Wisp. It had different enemies for every stage that they appeared in back then which is what's happening with Shadow Gens too. Just now the Black Arms aliens are invading some levels.
Also Shadow isn't reusing the parry animation from Frontiers, he puts his hand down that's the only thing similar to it, otherwise it's a totally different animation with him kicking the enemy.
I'm clearly talking about the freeze frame. Not the entire animation.
I said Shadow has better variety because it pulls from niche games.
@@DolphynsDeck I mean you just say "Shadow's reusing the animation" not "this freeze frame here is the same." Him putting his hand back isn't even the same it's just a similar gesture to the one Sonic does in Frontiers. Furthermore Shadow has like the exact same variety in enemies as base Gens also pulled from niche games. Iblis minions hadn't been in anything since same with the police from Speed Highway and the Gun robots in City Escape.
@@chrange9714 if you hold Sonic's air parry it's pretty identical. It's been known they're reusing animations from frontiers.
As for the "variety" - it's just my opinion. Sonic games have been reusing the models from Generations for a while so I thought it was cool that Shadow had so many new ones. Mixing the Black Arms with the other enemies is something Sonic didn't do. It's not really a big deal
@@DolphynsDeck Yes the stance is very similar but it's not identical. You can see that with Shadow's hand position and how he swings it back, it hasn't been known that they're reusing Frontiers animations that was just a claim that has lingered for a while because some look similar.
You say Sonic games have been reusing the models from Generations for a while but they really haven't. The only game to reuse them from Gens was literally Frontiers. Lost World and Forces had entirely new enemy designs and assets. That's true Sonic never had anything like the Black Arms mixing with the other enemies in levels but he still had a wide variety of enemies from across his history like Shadow does here.
Omega is definitely the second character
That's actually a good point ngl. I don't know if he'd fit in the Frontiers engine without a ton of work being done though. He's also in the hub world so I wonder how they'd work that in. I could see it though
@@DolphynsDeck the problem to me, is that what would make the most sense is one of these two things: if Omega is the 2nd character, he’d have to be in Act 2s or he’s a character you talk to and you guys swap (Mario Galaxy 2 style)
The areas that look like soleanna in the hub world are from generations white space

Cause all of the levels have a meaning to shadow.
Radical highway/or Westopolis: first level he was playable/ first level in his game
Space colony ark: where he was created, lost Maria and fought emerl.
Rail canyon: shadow android plot kicks off

I definitely don’t think the hub is Soleanna. None of the structures are similar besides “castle” really
There are statues seen in some of the promo images that look just like the bird statues in Soleanna. I've went over this in other videos

Yo dude can u plz make a video of sonic games in dreams for PlayStation 4 and 5, I feel like it would be a very interesting video and if you do I have some recommendations, sonic venture, sonic adventure dreams edition, sonic overdrive, sonic adventure revived and sonic overload to name a few.
I've wanted to try Dreams at some point, never pulled the trigger on getting the game sadly. Maybe one day..

Too bad they couldn't remake and rewrite the original game a la The Final Horizon.
I wouldn't want a whole re-write personally. Just a bunch of new scenes and interactions to give the story more depth and fit with Shadow's campaign

Honestly, the way both campaigns are set kinda fits with Sonic and Shadow
Sonic sees this whole Void as a cool place to save the would with his younger self
And Shadow sees this as his past coming back to haunt him. Fits both their personalities

Reminder that in IDW, Neo Metal Sonic was around at the very end of Forces. So in a way its a nice bridge between both (Like the Tangle reference in Frontiers)

It's 100% supposed to be Space Port. Final Fortress looks nothing like what was shown in the trailer
