So when I saw those boats during exercise "Cold Response", while playing the terrorist OPFOR, I knew that elite lads were coming for us. I had the pleasure of doing the initial Navy Riverine training on that platform back in 2008. It was the most fun month of training I ever had. We didn't end up deploying with her on my second trip to the sandbox but I still love the RCB. I love how they upgraded it to have the tow feature always ready, thank you Coastal Riverine shit pumps. No float plan, no weapons ready to go, what a joke. So glad they finally pulled the Riverine out of their name so the actual River Rats can say that word again.

From an aesthetic and practical viewpoint I love smart utilitarian design which this boat seems to have in spades. Strangely enough I kept getting Rocinante vibes from the layout. Well, as much as even that great show can get away with in a 'Hollywood' production.

@Drew Peacock Ehm, a grate that envelops both rectangular hatches on the aft-deck, so all of the deck is level and there are no gaps that can fit a boot into it.
Yes and no. We have a lot of inland waterways where these would be in their element, however our naval doctrine is based on using larger ocean going vessels to stop someone from getting that far in the first place. For vessels to get inland they would have to either be in Canadian or U.S territorial waters while entering the Gulf of the St. Laurence, so in theory no military vessels should be able to get their with the presence of the two navies out in open water. Sweden is a very different scenario. They have to share the Baltic and North seas with other nations and notably some that are not too friendly (cough... Russia) so having a shallow water capable navy is far more important to them.

It is an ideal boat in a coastal areas as complicated as the Swedish skerry one (thousands of islands, bays and peninsulas). But not if your coast is a simple one; the boats would be sitting ducks.

This boat is significantly smaller than a PT boat and armed with light weapons only, no torpedoes. It's purpose is patrolling and transporting troops.

It has already been tested with the RBS 17, a similar Swedish system developed from the HELLFIRE. So it's certainly capable of taking such a weapon
