How to get a pivot point from any object to use on another in ZBrush.

    Wow, great tip! Had this problem recently, ended up appending a cylinder in the correct position and then deleting it later. This is so much more elegant -- thanks!

    I didn't know about this, but after messing with it to see, I found that there's another way to do it. You can place the pivot on the subtool, and snap it to the vertex that you want, like shown in the video, but then hide everything with ctrl+alt+shift drag on that subtool, or mask everything in it. Above the Gizmo, there is a little stack / layer icon on the upper right. Enable it to affect all visible subtools. Now when you rotate, it will rotate any visible subtool from that pivot point.

    For people who are allergic to the old transpose tool:
    Only have relevant objects visible.
    Select and mask the subtool with the pivot you want.
    Click the checker mark in the gizmo "Transpose all selected subtools".
    Rotate.
