Hey guys! In this week's video, I go for a ride on a Cagiva Mito, a 125cc 2 stroke sportbike. Probably the best looking bike in it's category! The Cagiva Mito puts down 34HP with a max torque of 23NM. Very respectable numbers for a 125cc motorcycle! I can't wait to get my Cagiva Mito up and running!

It is beautiful but I think the Aprilia RS (96-2005 model) pips it.
I had the exact one the limited edition colour, at the time I was only 16 years old and it felt like I had a Ferrari especially here in South Africa I never saw one in my colour and I got it brand new, it was every kids dream wish I still had it I would keep it forever, just park it in my house as a collectors even. And there was no 125 that can handle the corners like that bike. Amazing to see again.
Awesome! They are great bikes indeed. I picked up a Lucky Strike mito I will be restoring.
I miss mine, you can steer them with the balls of your feet and on a twisty road you have nothing like it.

I had a 1999 one (T reg in England). Really relies on the revs and that power valve opening up. Needed 100% all the time or it would be boring at lower revs/ speeds. Super light and incredibly sharp brakes! Mine ended up having a lot of electrical issues, blowing fuses etc. But lovely looking bike, really unique!

I have a aprilia rs125 full power and picked a cagiva mito 125 2001 yesterday and had to ride it to my mates because he had no cbt, I loved it so much so smooth to ride and feels alot better than the rs so I am thinking of buying one now 😜😆

I've tried the 7-speed once, it's a really nice bike. I love the thin body feels like riding a bicycle (compared to my RS250 at that time) and very easy to change direction. Ride position is compact and racer-like, it make road riding feels like you are racing on track.
That put a huge smile on my face! Reminds me of my rg125 days.. happy times 🤗

I had a 1976 Yamaha dantona 400 special 2 stroke at 30 to 40 mph it would shake and sputter. Full throttle was the way
The RS or the Mito...take your pick.. both are amazing. If you've never ridden one, you've missed out.
My first geared bike was a brand new rs125 2010. Full power

@@Dhbgvpretty exciting tho as I recall it.... I went from a gutless dt50mx to a fire breathing kmx125 (capable of 90mph) overnight.
The 2 strokes get there power mostly in the higher revs so u should really be having the rpm higher
Is this 2 tank auto blending oil whit fuel or do u do it urself?
@@bobuxgamerfuckoffentligsek614 Most of them have a seperate oil container where you just put the oil in and then you just pour gas in the tank and then the bike mixes it by itself, but most people remove them because they are really old bikes and the mixing pump could fuck up and u could fuck up your engine.
My mixer died and blew my big end bearing on the A1 at 75mph 😢😢
Mine yellow color year made 93 94.. I sold it feww years ago... Small cc but powerfull bike 😅👍😬 2++++ max speed. another one is apprilia 125.. But i like cagiva most.. The speed n handling is cagiva is good most 👍😬😎👍👍
I have a Gilera with a Yamaha two stroke engine, low end torque is great, wheelies in first and second, I like it more than the Aprilia rs 125 and that’s saying something
Can somebody expalin why this motorcycle with 125cc really fast?
2-stroke is so much better than 4-stroke in this small engine capacity category!
you need to toastie that engine up before running high in the rev range or you could cold sieze it.
Engine temp before giving it a good rag should be 60degrees, ride it around 6-7k till it gets up to temp then open it up.
Warm em up and run em high in the rev range, 2 strokes gak up with carbon if you're running around 6k all day... Plus the battery won't charge properly either.
If you're not getting decent pull in lower revs check the power valve alignment and maybe some 2 stage Reed valves.
I've restored and ridden a lot of Mitos, my favourite bike ever.
Side note, if you're not getting it up to 60, you can tape up some of the outter radiator sections during winter.
Cagiva did sell a thermal rad cover back in the day because our winters are a little too harsh for that big old radiator, they're meant to be ridden around warmer climates.
Yeah I had the same advice when I got mine, it never reached that temp. Other 2 strokes maybe but the cooling on these things is insane with the huge radiator
@@stuffanthings You need to cover the rad if you're not reaching 60-80 degrees. When new these bikes used to come with a silver rad jacket that wrapped and secured around the radiator. I just use silver tape in winter.
@@zenzeypher im thinking about buying a cagiva. Is the sps525 a valid model or should i go with the normal Mito? What are the differences between those models exept for the looks?
@@no-pb5xb The SP is throttled with the newer euro regs at the time.
The best Mitos you can get are either the MK1 or the Evo1. The SP525 doesn't hold a candle and they're a nightmare to derestrict.
For those who never had the chance to ride this bike, just know that the clutch bite point is at 4,000 r.p.m.. Below that, you will simply not get off the line. At 6,000 r.p.m. you can fully open the throttle and nothing happens. Once you hit 8.000 r.p.m., OMG!

Don't you stop the oil circulation if you don't engine break?
When engine breaking there is no oil entering the cylinder.

Heb jij een A1 rijbewijs of B? Voor welk zou ik gaan? Ik wil natuurlijk een moto!
Maar met een B kan jij ook 125 rijden met 2jaar ervaring! Is het die 2jaar het waard? Wat heb jij gedaan?
Vergeet niet dat je na rijbewijs B nog 4 uur les zal moeten volgen en dat je verder ook enkel binnen België mag rijden, zou zelf persoonlijk voor A1 gaan en zo verder opbouwen in jouw situatie
Ik zou meteen wachten tot je oud genoeg bent voor het A2 rijbewijs of A rijbewijs. Een 125cc 4-takt is eigenlijk niet veel meer dan een snelle brommer. De 2taktjes zijn heel leuke machines, maar minder geschikt voor dagelijks gebruik als je het mij vraagt.
ik ben ook aan het denken van een sx125 of rx125 te kopen en dan voor A1 te gaan en dan binnen jaar of 2-3 voor A want ben dan al 24.
@@Renault-hp3cw waarom dan niet gewoon A2 rijbewijs? dan heb je al de mogelijkheid om met meer power te rijden en kan je nog altijd met een 125 rijden als je wil

When you fix it
Change cylinder to 73037 and head 200h or g, carb 35mm pwk or tmx, sp95 exhaust, 2 ring wössner piston and change electrics if needed
Vertex flat single ring ;) agree with the rest. Also tmx35 tends to run rich at least at idle, and afaik it is needed to have extra cooling when going from WOT to fully closed
And 200h head only, plus extra programmable ignition like zeeltronic

alternative: just a lil bit of twisting the throttle, so it doesnt decelerate
huh? is this a 2 stroke thing or just a bike specific thing? allways thought engine breaking was a-ok
@@leozinhosozinho it depence, most nieuwer bikes have a oil pump so its oke to engine break. BUT ! Alot of people disconnect the pump and mix our gas ourselfs. If the oil pump does not work you dont get any oil to the cilinder if you dont give gas.
@@lordlapswans my gilera smt 50 has a oil pump but I cant engine brake
I think this only applies to the old 2 strokes without an oil pump. If the bike has the oil pump then it's fine to let off the gas with the clutch engaged because the pumping rate is adjusted based on the throttle position and engine RPM.

If you find cagiva mito with 7 speed gearbox take cagiva
A cagiva is way cheaper you’ll easily find one for less than 1000 euro I’ve even seen a cagiva raptor for 400 with a new engine

@@bve7397 thx didn't know that, probably everybody wanted 7 speed only becouse of better top speed :D mine was six speed it was really reliable changed only brake pads, tires and chain in 30k km

Dat is wanneer je alleen het manouvre examen met de motor hebt gedaan, je moet het examen op de weg dan nog doen maar je mag wel al oefenen op de weg als je een L bij je kenteken hebt geplakt
Dat krijg je als je je voorlopig rijbewijs haalt.

The engine doesn't get supplied with lubrication when engine braking.
What hurts me is that, he didn't drive it on the high revs like a two stroke sports bike is supposed to, if you don't go on the high RPMs, you can even break the engine.
I'm still learning.

Very hard to do a wheelie on a mito, seating position is so harsh.
@@krisu8960 ik it was for the joke, altho remember dudes in motogp do stand up wheelies on their rocketships, despite the seating position, it's just a question of balance and skill (also arm strengh if your bike doesn't produce 300hp at the wheel)
