Actually what you said about girls not wanting to win and being intimidated is backed by science. There was a study that showed that when women and men of a similar elo played chess, men won 3/4 of the time. However, when the women didn’t know they were facing against men, the results evened out to a 50/50 split. Really interesting stuff
@@ASMRChess I tried linking it but it deleted my comment. The study’s title is: Checkmate? The role of gender stereotypes in the ultimate intellectual sport. It’s on Wiley Online Library if that helps at all
What you said about women in chess is probably not true for everybody but it definitely is in my case! When I was little my dad used to play chess with me and I would ALWAYS lose, which made me stop wanting to play. Two weeks ago I decided to start playing again and try to beat my dad (now as an 18 year old lol) and I've noticed that my main flaw is that as soon as the moves I had planned are over, I begin to panick and stop attacking, only trying to defend my pieces. Anyways, I just wanted to say that hearing someone say that what I do is a tendency made me feel more secure and less alone, so thank you. Also, great video as always!!
This video was not just your play by play, it was a true piece of insight into the psychology of a chess player. I think confidence and self assurance really does play a huge role, sometimes even beyond one's own technical capabilities. The fact that you were able to start a discussion with "I'm about to say something I noticed about women, don't get triggered please" and actually finish the discussion with such objective, insightful, and inspiring knowledge is genuinely impressive. I was scared for a moment!! But as you continued speaking, I took a step back and was so easily able to digest the message you were trying to get across. Makes me feel like I SHOULD go for the jugular in chess. I do deserve to win if I have the skill!! Love your content and just who you present yourself to be as a person. You are just grand!!
I am so glad you did a video on this, it was really unexpected! I am a poker fan, a Nakamura fan, and I have been following the PogChamps for some time and so I tuned in specifically to watch this match.

Interesting how Poki's Kb1, which seemed innocuous at the time, ultimately came back to bite her when the king was one square short of catching Negreanu's kingside pawns in the endgame. Thanks for going through this game; I saw it live, but it's good to see a slower, more extensive analysis than was done by the commentators at the time.
Remember when you've only had several videos, only about 6-7k subscribes and when you've disappeared from TH-cam for several years. Was listening to them vids you've had back then and was always hoping for you to start making content again, happy you've decided to return to us after such a long break :)
I feel many players are guilty of this in MtG. Especially when the initiative changes. Many players will wait a turn to see if everything is really cooled off before they start attacking - while a good player will realize "no, the tides changed NOW and therefore I must attack immidiatly".
Earlier today Rainn did some blundlers on purpose I believe. He's wholesome like that. I think he's gonna win it almost effortlessly. Other then the Queen mate in 2 failed order. I think all the other significant blunders were on purpose

So, with me being strangely interested in youtube viewing statistics etc., I was wondering if these type of videos in which you analyse more... uh... "pop-chess games" (i.e. this video, the one on Gibi's chess game, and the game form the queen's gambit) see an increase in viewing numbers, viewer retention, etc? My hypothesis is that they do because they potentially attract a more diverse (potentially bigger) audience.
After having watched your analysis, it seems as though he may have intentionally started off aggressively knowing who his opponent was. Not sure though.
I would bet on it, he was rated about twice her level, and given his experience with how aggressive heads up play in poker is, its no surprise to me he tried to play black in an overly aggressive manner.
He used to be. But one of the reasons Kasparov is a fantastic and interesting person is that he applies the principle of learning from his mistakes to all walks of life. He learned that he was wrong about women and corrected his attitude and opinion. Imagine if everybody had the courage to better themselves when they found out they had been wrong about something. So much of our ego is tied up on our opinions that many people will never admit they are wrong - not because they can't understand that they are wrong, but because it would mean a defeat of them as a person. This hinders growth more than anything else I know of.
