    My husband already thinks I'm crazy with all my preps and no waste, but when I come home with pine tree branches tomorrow hes going to think I went over the edge. Thanks for the recipe. 🤪

      Lol, thats funny. My Oldest son thinks I'm crazy, hes not a Democrat but he tells me not to tell him my tin foil hat stuff 😂😂😂 My husband is with me on the prepping, I have almost filled my pantry and im also using one of my spare room closets as a prepping pantry as well. Its just my husband and myself but im also prepping for my kids and grandchildren, one of my son's wives is prepping somewhat but the other one isn't and I cant let my kids or grandchildren do without

    Actually, Rosemary is also a great medicinal herb. I drink Rosemary tea when I am not feeling well and it works amazingly well. It has both antibacterial and antiviral properties.

    I have been reading that evergreen trees can be used for making tea and now I saw your video..I am amazed that I have not heard of this before...We have many conifer trees where I live so this makes me happy.

      Oh yes! I prefer the white pine needles to the hemlock though both are good. It helps to cut or score the needles to allow more of the oils out, I find.

    This is a goldmine of information....your video and then other comments. Just getting into being more 'nature reliant' instead of OTC reliant. I had a black co-worker who said in the fall her mom would take a quart jar, put in small handful of pine needles, some vinegar and peppermint candy. She set in in the center of the kitchen table. Anyone who felt they were starting to get sick stopped and took a slug of that stuff. Several kids and no one got really sick. I was fascinated. Thanks for posting this. Look forward to having time to watch other of your videos. Jesus bless.

    Sugar and onion make a good Cough Syrup too also when I feel like I'm about to get strep I eat a garlic clove with a few slices of jalapeno with honey 3 times a day and it always works to get ride of it.. I usually forget to add the Honey but the honey makes it more palatable for most. You can also used Pickled version's bc it's just in a vinegar and has the same properties as fresh. Thanks for this video, I can't wait to see what you do next!

      I'm sorry she didn't take the time to learn something so important. I wonder if something like this would have made my strep throat less severe or go away sooner that it did. Of course I had gone to the doctor and gotten some antibiotics, but maybe this would have made it more comfortable in the meantime.

    • @Lavenderrose73
      @Lavenderrose73 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've made that too! I add cinnamon, clove, star Anise, nutmeg, and Ginger to it along with the honey already calls for.
      I found some in a maple leaf shaped syrup bottle I had forgotten about a few batches back I guess, I'm not sure how long it's been there. But it tastes just as good as when I first made it.
      One thing I really like about the way I make it is that I can put about an ounce of it in a glass of red wine, and it tastes just like you mulled it! Instant mulled wine with that Elderberry syrup if you add the right spices to it! 😊🍷

    I ordered about 9 oz of pine needles on Etsy because I wasn't sure if I could find white pine around my area, let alone White Pine that isn't treated with insecticide. I used the first ounce to make Pine soda, which I learned about on TH-cam and I couldn't believe you could do that! So I have the other 8oz and apparently I have enough to make that cough syrup if I want to.
    I'm going to my church's annual conference in just a couple days, and it's held in Scotts Valley just 20 minutes away from Santa Cruz. I'm going to want to bring a ziplock bag with me and see if they have white pine in that area. If so, I'll be asking if I can pick some needles!
    Is there any reason I couldn't filter it through the coffee filter while it's still hot so that the honey would mix more easily?
