I really want to try making this, but I have one big problem. I am allergic to the bulbous white, red, and yellow onions. I can eat spring onions or green onions. What can I do to substitute for the white onion you use?

My husband story: One day he and his work buddies were talking about what would happen if they lost their health care insurance. My husband perked up and said, "My wife is my health care provider." We use a lot of homeopathic remedies also. My husband had cellulitis infection on his leg and I told him it was his choice to seek care or have me treat it. He went to the doctor and was on antibiotics for two weeks, it didn't get rid of it. He's also allergic to amoxicillin, another reason I wanted to treat it. So he decided to let me do it and I gave him tons of oils and remedies and finally it was cured. My son has always gotten through sicknesses in half the time the other kids at school have and many times has never even gotten sick when almost the whole class has. Too many people rely on others for care and services, food etc. People will snicker "why would you do it when you can just go to a doctor". Many people don't realize until they're older how much damage all the pharmaceuticals do to the body until it's too late.
My family has taken this video and introduced fire cider to our entire church congregation. We made two dozen batches, split them each up into 4ths and wrote out our recipe. This video has introduced a whole church congregation to a new way of approaching our health.

She proved that knowledge can come from places, people and history passed on, other than Universities .She learned the Herbalist ways from her mother and her mother's mother and her mother's mother. This just happened to me. A few months ago I made a slightly modified version of this recipe. This last week I got a crazy type of flu that is going around right now that's super contagious. My Gi system and urinary system were destroyed. Earlier this week I took a good swallow of my batch of fc, and it seems like over night everything started to get better. A few nights later (last night) I took another shot right before bed. It warmed me up all through my body and I sweat a lot all night long. I woke up drenched. This morning I feel amazing. This is a game changer for me, and I'm grateful for this recipe. I'll keep it for the rest of my life.
I haven't had a cold or flu for over 10 yrs. What I do is eat 1 clove of raw garlic every day. Usually on a piece of buttered toast. In the summer I have a tomato and garlic sandwich with 2 gloves of garlic.
My great grandmother ate garlic sandwiches (raw garlic and mayo) regularly. She lived on her own, healthy to her final days at 95 years old! We always told her the garlic scared the germs away from her 😉
If you want to maximize your alisin, you should smash your garlic as flat as possible with the skin on and let it sit. If you're using it like you are in this video, there's no need to remove the skin. Ginger is the same. The enzymes in both of their skins are going to add to your medicine.

I love my ginger I put it in my lemon water and as it comes up I eat it my husband and I stay healthy, plus I make a tincture we take daily with herbs , we very rarely get sick and if we do it's gone within a couple of days.
I made lemon ginger tea once, because my co-worker said they were sniffly, they refused to drink it, and I was like, but I put sugar in yours. I make it and if it's hot, I call it cough drop tea(cause it tastes like a Hall's cough drop), or ginger lemonade if I chill it.
Thanks. Great video. I make Fire Cider, too. I agree: when I'm feeling off it crosses my mind to pull out the Fire Cider. I don't need to take it daily. If I'm impatient I fill a shot glass and drink it--the flavors are still pungent, but they mellow in fierceness with the fermentation. My favorite is when it's hot outside. With a shot (1-2 oz) of FC, a few drops of stevia, then fill it with ice & water it's a super refreshing pick-me-upper. I throw the remaining solids onto a tray, dehydrate them, and powder them to put into a spice jar.

But, I like spicy a lot. I've heard others have taken the remaining solids (un-dehydrated) and stewed them in honey--but, I couldn't think of anything that sounded good on for me.

I swear by oregano oil for the start of a cold. 1 or 2 drops on a tiny piece of bread and swallow like a pill. 2 or 3 times a day, or whenever I remember. Really knocks a cold. Just don’t forget and chew the bread, it is very hot and will light you up!

Per 3 gallon jug: 1 white onion (lg) 1 entire bulb of garlic (7-8 cloves on est) 7-9 yellow/orange Tumeric roots 2-3 large bulbs of Ginger Half a handful (cup) of Thai Peppers 1 entire Horseradish root Two bottles of Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother) Skin/peel, chop ingredients (I would wear gloves) and add to blender. Add mixture to jug(s). Shake and let age about two months. Shake daily. Strain after two months (blended mix can be dehydrated, powdered and turned into pills-see Magical Hoofs youtube channel on how to, she is wonderful). Dosage depends on the illment and the strength of your stomach (medicine is very strong). I usually take 1/4c for colds/flu's, even infections. I wont recommend giving to young children unless they are very ill, if so dilute heavy and take with food. I hope this helps.
After watching your video last October, I made my batch of fire cider. I'm the only one in my family that didn't get sick (COVID, flu, etc). No one else will take the fire cider but I think it's the one thing that has kept me from all those nasty viruses. Thank you for the video.
When making mines I use all organic ingredients. Along with the items mention above, I add honey, lemon, cinnamon, oregano oil, etc… I was unable to find organic jalapeño peppers therefore, I added extra cayenne pepper, paprika and smoked paprika. I have never strained mines and it’s never gone bad. Recently, I made a 2-gallon batch and blended everything with the Nutra Bullet. I leave mines sit for 2 months or longer. Be creative with it. Make it your own!

I love fire cider and have been making it for years. I leave out the peppers so my twelve year old can take it and add cayenne if I want it just before I take it. I also add in almost equal parts of raw honey after it's finished, I love the flavor and medicinal benefits from it. That's how I was taught form I think from rosemary I think.
I think of the homemade remedies this way... this is how they used to cure ailments before the big drug companies took a home remedies and turned it into a big money scam. Home remedies are the best! Thanks for sharing
Throw a good piece of that ginger root into a pot with some good soil and let her grow, overwinter it with the rest of your herbs on the porch. When it gets big enough you can pop it out, grab a chunk of root off, and put it back into the pot to let it grow up some more. Also, thanks for the videos!

O M Gosh! This stuff works! Thank goodness I made my 1st batch just short of 4 weeks. 1st dose reduced cold symptoms, after 3rd dose symptoms gone and felt great! Took another dose just because. Have plenty left but gonna make another batch, don't want to be without it. Thank u!

You've had so many comments, but maybe someone will see this post and confirm. First if all, thank you for sending this video out! I've had my own "concoction " with almost the same ingredients in my fridge for at least a couple of yrs. I didn't know i could make it shelf stable! I added turmeric to your recipe and just strained all the "goodies" out after two weeks. Wow, it potent! Im hoping it's cloudy because its been shaken up and all the turmeric and "mother" will settle on the bottom. I'll make another batch and let it sit longer.
With ginger I peel, cut in 1/2” or so pieces then put them in a jar. Cover with sherry. Cover jar and put in refrigerator to store. As I need ginger I take out what I need to grate or chop for dishes. As the ginger supply gets low cut up more and add to jar. If sherry gets low add more to cover.

If heat gets you, take raw honey right away. It takes away the heat almost immediately! I "burned" my hands handling/cutting up hot peppers and was soaking in cold water for 2 hours. It didn't help - I remembered honey and ran to smear some on my hands. It stopped the burning immediately! I will forever have honey with me!!
Been making this off and on for 15 years. I went years without so much as a cold when I took an ounce of this daily, then I got lazy. I noticed a difference. I've began adding turmeric somewhat recently as well.

I cut an onion at bedtime for stuffy noses when we're sick. I realized that the nasal spray somehow just maximized the sickness getting into our chests. People have straight up laughed at me but even as we slept with that hot snot dripping off our faces we slept without the sensation of suffocating. My husband had the flu and even with me and the baby with him in our bed we didn't get sick. It's ok that they laugh. When they call me sick I take them an onion 😅
My mum used to talk about hot mustard and hot onion plasters her mum would make when anyone got sick with a cold . She fried up a bunch of onions and put them in a muslin bag which she tied to your chest . Seemed to work although the smell was pretty bad !
I really appreciate that you are making this and teaching others to do it as well. I think it's very important to take your health into your hands and not rely on medical health professionals to take care of you. Having said that, I am a licensed healthcare professional (alternative medicine) and I have used fire cider myself and don't think it would help you if you are already sick. I also am uncertain how much it actually helps prevent you from getting sick. A healthy lifestyle and diet go a lot further than using something like this - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Thank you for your fire cider recipe and the impact that horseradish can have on the thyroid. Everything doesn't work on everybody, but my eyes only burn while cutting onions when I've been consuming a lot of sugar. After 2 to 4 weeks without sugar I can cut onions without a tear.
Very cool. Look frwd to trying this. I make something simular with a salt brine and red cabbage. I also like to add turmeric and curry. When the garlic, onions and carrots all taste the same, I eat it.
I just made this today! Thanks for this video. My concoction included one habanero pepper per jar😬 since those are the only peppers that did well in my garden this year. Puts the FIRE in fire cider I guess. 🤷♀️ I may find out in a few weeks that half a pepper would have been just fine lol. But this is my first batch ever. I also added some of my freshly dried oregano from my garden since I swear by both oregano oil and oil of oregano. Didn't have fresh ginger so I hope the powdered ginger still helps. Wish me luck. 😅
another one is Hatian ginger tea. its made out of ginger peel, pinapple peel and core, turmric, and honey. you just boil it all together and strain it (toss the scrap in your compost pile if you have one i guess). its all scraps that you accumulate over the year and keep in the freezer. guy from Hati taught me how to make it. its tasty too.

I tried to make my 1st fire cider today once I finally got it done, I realized after looking at different posts that the honey was not supposed to go in with the Apple cider vinegar And all the chopped ingredients for the full duration of fermenting. but alas😄😄😄 that is where my honey is now, with the Apple cider vinegar and all the chopped ingredients. I don't know what to expect! :) did I really mess things up? I mean if I have to do it over again, I have to do it over again! I make hot pepper tea, which my grandmother used for colds, the girl’s and women’s periods and cramps. I added my own twist to it by adding honey and lemons , I also will add a mentholated cough drop to melt in it. We got the cut down version of just boiling water and black pepper. I add cayenne pepper to the tea also and about 3 flakes crushed red pepper. It definitely works on my family’s cold’s and aches and pains, I also will scrape with the end of a spoon, a little bit of something like Vicks salve , about a 1/16th teaspoon and melt into the tea. I used these methods for my family all through the past years for covid and I have used it for bronchitis also. Sinuses problems. Some of my family thinks I’m crazy but it works. My grandmother was the countryside per say’Dr’ along with her husband who was born in 1893. They had 11 kids, he died at 43 from getting sick after helping a whole family and left her with the kids . She ended up share cropping, chopping and picking cotton and no time for going into town to a dr.

I work at a thrift store and a lady bought in some hot hot peppers and I made sure I marked them. I’m a curious person so I looked in to the different peppers and level of heat and found out some very interesting factors. Sounds like my husband. When I started using oils he was very much “ that wouldn’t help” till he got a sore on his leg and applied it to the sore together with “Silver” and he soon changed his tone.
When you use your knife to push your chopped onions, garlic, etc. into the mason jar, it’s good if you use the back of your knife instead of the cutting edge. In that way, the cutting edge doesn’t get dull from being scraped on the wooden cutting board.
Just made some fire cider today. I bought some horseradish and had some left over. Going to see if I can grow it. Never have before but I like trying new plants.

Glad you mentioned the horseradish and thyroid issue. I have about zero thyroid function so I take meds for it. Looks like horseradish can slow down thyroid function, so for those of us with already under active thyroid, we should stay away from it.
You also want to avoid plants from the Brassica family and avoid bromine which is a dough conditioner and something they used to add to Gatorade and citrus soda…

I just made two batches however Had a full batch done in a larger jar but not enough apple cider vinegar for the 2nd batch so I dumped that into a pot and added a can of tomatoes heated it for a bit to get the flavours simmering together and volai I have some selsa dip...mmmmmm it is verry yummy. Not too much heat just the right amount yummy 😋

I'm on my third batch of Fire Cider, I finally found horse radish root, at the store it was $8.99 a pound, tho I did not buy a pound, this is such a good tasting drink, and I think I may make a batch for Salad Dressing.
This is wild. I was just listening to an NPR about medieval medicine recipes. The one they were looking at involved onion and garlic. As well as wine, cooked in a copper pot and left for three days before being strained and applied to an eye infection (staph). They tested that in the lab and found that it was extremely effective. Tested it against MRSA and found that it was extremely effective there. Since this was the common cure for that type of bacteria in that time period, the bacteria likely became resistant, just as bacteria is becoming resistant to our modern common cure. It's good to know about many methods to tackle bacteria and various diseases. There's nothing wrong with a bigger toolbox.

Do you use ground or just diced dried cayenne pepper? With or without the seeds included?

@@Angie_978 use dried, you will need less, doesnt matter about the seeds, you will filter them out later anyway using muslin cloth.

My husband is a believer on garlic. But I can't stand the smell he emits, it fills our small) house and it's not pleasant at all

I throw the remaining solids onto a tray, dehydrate them, and powder them to put into a spice jar.

@@susanruzicka2555 Anything I want a super zing--sauces, dressings, steamed veggies, etc. Just once in a while I'll say you know what sounds really good right now? A dash of spicey-goodness. But, I like spicy a lot. I've heard others have taken the remaining solids (un-dehydrated) and stewed them in honey--but, I couldn't think of anything that sounded good on for me.
Ginger is also a good expectorant, i.e. helps to break up mucus on the chest. It's traditionally used for this in India.

I swear by oregano oil for the start of a cold. 1 or 2 drops on a tiny piece of bread and swallow like a pill. 2 or 3 times a day, or whenever I remember. Really knocks a cold. Just don’t forget and chew the bread, it is very hot and will light you up!

Even using oregano as tea helps. Old Mexican remedy for cold.
I put it on a q-tip and swab it up my nose.
Another easy way is hold a mouthful of water in your mouth, tilt your head back, drop in one or two drops then swallow

I want to get off all my prescription drugs I'm on a blood thinner heart medicine and I'm just don't want to do it anymore I wish I could learn I didn't know about the ginger until just now that if you're on a blood thinner to be careful I know I my prescriptions you're not supposed to take garlic my oldest son eat 4 -5 garlic cloves a day and he's never been sick ,He is 40 years old .

1 white onion (lg)
1 entire bulb of garlic (7-8 cloves on est)
7-9 yellow/orange Tumeric roots
2-3 large bulbs of Ginger
Half a handful (cup) of Thai Peppers
1 entire Horseradish root
Two bottles of Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother)
Skin/peel, chop ingredients (I would wear gloves) and add to blender.
Add mixture to jug(s). Shake and let age about two months. Shake daily.
Strain after two months (blended mix can be dehydrated, powdered and turned into pills-see Magical Hoofs youtube channel on how to, she is wonderful).
Dosage depends on the illment and the strength of your stomach (medicine is very strong).
I usually take 1/4c for colds/flu's, even infections. I wont recommend giving to young children unless they are very ill, if so dilute heavy and take with food.

After watching your video last October, I made my batch of fire cider. I'm the only one in my family that didn't get sick (COVID, flu, etc). No one else will take the fire cider but I think it's the one thing that has kept me from all those nasty viruses. Thank you for the video.
When making mines I use all organic ingredients. Along with the items mention above, I add honey, lemon, cinnamon, oregano oil, etc… I was unable to find organic jalapeño peppers therefore, I added extra cayenne pepper, paprika and smoked paprika. I have never strained mines and it’s never gone bad. Recently, I made a 2-gallon batch and blended everything with the Nutra Bullet. I leave mines sit for 2 months or longer. Be creative with it. Make it your own!

I love fire cider and have been making it for years. I leave out the peppers so my twelve year old can take it and add cayenne if I want it just before I take it. I also add in almost equal parts of raw honey after it's finished, I love the flavor and medicinal benefits from it. That's how I was taught form I think from rosemary I think.

Throw a good piece of that ginger root into a pot with some good soil and let her grow, overwinter it with the rest of your herbs on the porch. When it gets big enough you can pop it out, grab a chunk of root off, and put it back into the pot to let it grow up some more. Also, thanks for the videos!

I've had my own "concoction " with almost the same ingredients in my fridge for at least a couple of yrs. I didn't know i could make it shelf stable! I added turmeric to your recipe and just strained all the "goodies" out after two weeks. Wow, it potent! Im hoping it's cloudy because its been shaken up and all the turmeric and "mother" will settle on the bottom. I'll make another batch and let it sit longer.

With ginger I peel, cut in 1/2” or so pieces then put them in a jar. Cover with sherry. Cover jar and put in refrigerator to store. As I need ginger I take out what I need to grate or chop for dishes. As the ginger supply gets low cut up more and add to jar. If sherry gets low add more to cover.
I add fresh or powdered turmeric and fresh oregano from the garden or a few drops of oil of oregano. Another powerful antimicrobial.

If heat gets you, take raw honey right away. It takes away the heat almost immediately! I "burned" my hands handling/cutting up hot peppers and was soaking in cold water for 2 hours. It didn't help - I remembered honey and ran to smear some on my hands. It stopped the burning immediately! I will forever have honey with me!!

Been making this off and on for 15 years. I went years without so much as a cold when I took an ounce of this daily, then I got lazy. I noticed a difference. I've began adding turmeric somewhat recently as well.

I cut an onion at bedtime for stuffy noses when we're sick. I realized that the nasal spray somehow just maximized the sickness getting into our chests. People have straight up laughed at me but even as we slept with that hot snot dripping off our faces we slept without the sensation of suffocating. My husband had the flu and even with me and the baby with him in our bed we didn't get sick. It's ok that they laugh. When they call me sick I take them an onion 😅
My mum used to talk about hot mustard and hot onion plasters her mum would make when anyone got sick with a cold . She fried up a bunch of onions and put them in a muslin bag which she tied to your chest . Seemed to work although the smell was pretty bad !

I think it's very important to take your health into your hands and not rely on medical health professionals to take care of you. Having said that, I am a licensed healthcare professional (alternative medicine) and I have used fire cider myself and don't think it would help you if you are already sick. I also am uncertain how much it actually helps prevent you from getting sick. A healthy lifestyle and diet go a lot further than using something like this - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Thank you for your fire cider recipe and the impact that horseradish can have on the thyroid. Everything doesn't work on everybody, but my eyes only burn while cutting onions when I've been consuming a lot of sugar. After 2 to 4 weeks without sugar I can cut onions without a tear.

I just made this today! Thanks for this video. My concoction included one habanero pepper per jar😬 since those are the only peppers that did well in my garden this year. Puts the FIRE in fire cider I guess. 🤷♀️ I may find out in a few weeks that half a pepper would have been just fine lol. But this is my first batch ever. I also added some of my freshly dried oregano from my garden since I swear by both oregano oil and oil of oregano. Didn't have fresh ginger so I hope the powdered ginger still helps. Wish me luck. 😅
another one is Hatian ginger tea. its made out of ginger peel, pinapple peel and core, turmric, and honey. you just boil it all together and strain it (toss the scrap in your compost pile if you have one i guess). its all scraps that you accumulate over the year and keep in the freezer. guy from Hati taught me how to make it. its tasty too.

I don't know what to expect! :) did I really mess things up? I mean if I have to do it over again, I have to do it over again! Honey probably won't hurt it. We put Garlic cloves in honey and leave it out on the counter for several weeks.
I make hot pepper tea, which my grandmother used for colds, the girl’s and women’s periods and cramps. I added my own twist to it by adding honey and lemons , I also will add a mentholated cough drop to melt in it. We got the cut down version of just boiling water and black pepper. I add cayenne pepper to the tea also and about 3 flakes crushed red pepper. It definitely works on my family’s cold’s and aches and pains, I also will scrape with the end of a spoon, a little bit of something like Vicks salve , about a 1/16th teaspoon and melt into the tea. I used these methods for my family all through the past years for covid and I have used it for bronchitis also. Sinuses problems. Some of my family thinks I’m crazy but it works. My grandmother was the countryside per say’Dr’ along with her husband who was born in 1893. They had 11 kids, he died at 43 from getting sick after helping a whole family and left her with the kids . She ended up share cropping, chopping and picking cotton and no time for going into town to a dr.

I work at a thrift store and a lady bought in some hot hot peppers and I made sure I marked them. I’m a curious person so I looked in to the different peppers and level of heat and found out some very interesting factors.
Sounds like my husband. When I started using oils he was very much “ that wouldn’t help” till he got a sore on his leg and applied it to the sore together with “Silver” and he soon changed his tone.
My best friend in elementary school was Latino. Her mom gave me a bowl of hot salsa when I had the sniffles. Cleared my system right up!
When you use your knife to push your chopped onions, garlic, etc. into the mason jar, it’s good if you use the back of your knife instead of the cutting edge. In that way, the cutting edge doesn’t get dull from being scraped on the wooden cutting board.
I cured myself of coved with these same ingredients and a lot of fresh organic fruits.
Just made some fire cider today. I bought some horseradish and had some left over. Going to see if I can grow it. Never have before but I like trying new plants.

Glad you mentioned the horseradish and thyroid issue. I have about zero thyroid function so I take meds for it. Looks like horseradish can slow down thyroid function, so for those of us with already under active thyroid, we should stay away from it.
If you're interested look up the TH-cam channel Rain Country and how they got off their thyroid meds. I hope it helps you.
You also want to avoid plants from the Brassica family and avoid bromine which is a dough conditioner and something they used to add to Gatorade and citrus soda…

I just made two batches however
Had a full batch done in a larger jar but not enough apple cider vinegar for the 2nd batch so I dumped that into a pot and added a can of tomatoes heated it for a bit to get the flavours simmering together and volai I have some selsa dip...mmmmmm it is verry yummy. Not too much heat just the right amount yummy 😋

I'm on my third batch of Fire Cider, I finally found horse radish root, at the store it was $8.99 a pound, tho I did not buy a pound, this is such a good tasting drink, and I think I may make a batch for Salad Dressing.

This is wild. I was just listening to an NPR about medieval medicine recipes. The one they were looking at involved onion and garlic. As well as wine, cooked in a copper pot and left for three days before being strained and applied to an eye infection (staph). They tested that in the lab and found that it was extremely effective. Tested it against MRSA and found that it was extremely effective there. Since this was the common cure for that type of bacteria in that time period, the bacteria likely became resistant, just as bacteria is becoming resistant to our modern common cure. It's good to know about many methods to tackle bacteria and various diseases. There's nothing wrong with a bigger toolbox.
