    You have to be the most optimistic person on this platform. I just love your happy disposition and your devil may care attitude 😂😂😂

      Ha! Thanks. I think I’ve learnt from starting this channel that I’ve officially turned into a miserable old git! 😂

    Thank you for sharing a long-haul trip. Yes, Business Class is needed to lay down on those trips.

    • @michaeldoesstuffs

      The bed is the most important thing, I’d give up all of the other business ‘benefits’ and just pay for the bed if I could.

    It’s just a trip. I’ve done it several times always in economy and it’s perfectly fine. At some point you wish it was over but overall on landing it’s like wow, I’m here already.

    What would be odd is if the Steward said ' when your ready to go to sleep I'll make your bed........... up and join you'...........................

    From the 29th of Oct, there're putting the 777-300ER on the LHR-SYD route which have the upgraded Club Suite business class seats. Great video by the way, enjoyed it.

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s good to know, and shame I missed it. The main reason I went in October was to miss the clock change and save an extra bit of jet lag. The best time to travel is probably over the uk summer months, it’s not as warm but you can save 2 hours in jet lag if you travel before the first week of October.

    I like the ying yang seat configuration if you’re flying with a partner or friend. It’s very sociable and easy to face each other and if you are fly alone then there’s always the privacy divide anyway

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are ok, just a bit odd when you have to stare at a stranger when landing, looking a complete mess after sleeping for hours 😂

    • @charlieb2903
      @charlieb2903 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are flying alone they are the worst business class seats ever invented. While there is the privacy screen, meals etc have to be passed across the passenger in the aisle seat, which has absolutely no privacy anyway. There is also nowhere to put anything with the only storage a shallow drawer which can't be accessed when the seat is in bed mode. As Dennis Bunnik, a well known tour company operator put it, the best seat for solo travellers is on another airline.

    Did this trip from Heathrow to Sydney back in 2013 via Hong Kong with Virgin. 12 hours to Hong Kong , 30 minutes on the ground after disembarking for refuelling then another 9 hours to Sydney.......in economy. Hallucinating upon landing in Sydney 😂

    Great vlog. The wife and I both enjoyed it as it accurately reflects the ballache of modern day air travel 😄 Were you out there for work (and what did it cost, out of interest)?

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I started this channel because my wife said ‘ I needed a hobby’ so it’s good that my new found hobby is interesting to someone😂. I’m still learning and I need a better camera. Yes it was a work trip, cost was 6k which seems a lot but was actually cheaper than it has been over the past year. This also required me to fly back on a Sunday (Saturday was 3k more!). This meant I had time at the start and end to do some walking around which I’ll post soon.

    • @markhowson9694

      @@michaeldoesstuffs Best of luck with it 👍

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One other point on the cost, probably you can find it cheaper if you’re staying longer and can play with dates. If traveling for a week the airlines know it’s for business and whack the price up. This flight would be brutal in economy and I’m not sure if I could do it, I’d probably spend a few days in Singapore to break it up.

    • @markhowson9694
      @markhowson9694 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@michaeldoesstuffs That's interesting - and I imagine the algorithm is making it ever harder to find a 'cheap' flight. I can understand paying for more room for a flight such as this, but am amazed at how many people choose to fly Upper to Florida. We're happy to put up with a few hours of potential discomfort and have more dollars to spend on the other side ;-)

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same here, I can handle 9 hours to Florida and never book business. Although this year they upgraded us to premium when we got to the gate and now my son only wants to fly premium! Flying to Oz is a different ball game though, even so it amazes me when I see a family of four get on the plane and all sit in business, 24k gone like that in one day.

    Most depressing 20 minutes of my life... I get it that it is a ultra long haul flight... But if its so negative why botehr spend money on such a flight in the first place? Id you have diabetes 1 or 2 just take some advance rules and make sure you have the proper medicine in your carry on bag

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for commenting. I am definitely more on the pessimistic side rather than an optimist! The trip was a work trip so not really optional. On the diabetes, of course I had medicine, I wouldn’t live very long if I didn’t, it’s more about the impacts of time zone changes vs what the body is used to, and also sitting around doing nothing for 24 hours. Apologies if you found it depressing, it’s the way i am, in any case your life must be pretty good if this video was the most depressing 20 minutes you’ve had.

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No worries, to add some context, when you say bye to your family and then travel as far away as possible it can make you a bit nervous and depressed about the situation, business travel is not all that! but I will take your comment on board and try to be more positive, it’s not the first time I’ve heard it 😂

    • @Gibbs-rq4yg
      @Gibbs-rq4yg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaeldoesstuffs Because i think the point is to show us a geenie so wwe can get a nice experience in the video... I get it that sometimes its a bummer to travel long hal.. But BA is not the best airline in that area....

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, Qatar has probably been the best experience I’ve had. The reason I chose BA for this flight is that it’s the fastest, and the stop in Singapore is smooth as it’s a short wait and you don’t have to get your luggage off, plus you don’t have the worry about the connecting flight being late. On balance BA wins because if this, even if their planes are not quite as nice!

  • @lawrencehoward2635

    Absolutely love that someone else coments on the weirdness and pointlessness of some people's behaviour of people's behaviour on flights, and how that strange combination of entitlement and impatience you get from premium passengers is REALLY annoying.
    Plus. I was in the same seat when I flew to Toronto last year!

    • @michaeldoesstuffs
      @michaeldoesstuffs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting. The entitlement is ‘interesting’. I hope you enjoyed Toronto, I enjoyed my time there, it’s a great city to wonder around.

    I feel for you. Oh dear. 😢 Jesus. You leave Heathrow at night and you arrive @ luxirious Changi in the late afternoon. And guess what. In the subtropical countries sunset is around 6 to 7pm. Than it's night again. That's cheeky i know but.....
    In the 60's when Lufthansa opened their Sydney rotation they had to fly for 36 hours. Frankfurt Istanbul-Bahrein-Bombay-Singapore-Darwin-Sydney on a Super Constellation. Maximum cruise altitude 20.000 feet so you had to fly trough the clouds completely. No tv. No sleeping seats. Yeah. Flying with a 787 to down under is a real torture.

  • @แอนดริวเจอราร์ดโบเวอร์ส

    Great blog ,never understand why people change character when they are traveling in any class on an aircraft but I am not one of those I always feel privileged when I am boarding with champagne and brandy dripping out of my ears and if the rest of them don't like me then Bollocks.
