1990. The best year ever for a Reds fan who wasn't around in the 70s. Eric Davis is my all time favorite player along with many players on this Reds team. Larkin, Sabo, O'neil, Rijo, the nasty boys, etc.

REDS had a little bit of everything on that team. Pitching, BP, hitting, speed and ED.

I'm from Cincinnati. I was around in both the 70's and the 90's. I've been selling flowers in bars and nightclubs since 1991. I've been really lucky because I was able to meet Jose Rijo and Eric Davis. They're both genuine people. I too loved this 1990 Reds team!

Marty Brennaman said for years that the 1990 Reds team was his favorite. Having been around for 45 Reds seasons, including the ‘75 & ‘76 WS Championship years, I think he can be considered an authority.

I totally agree with you! I was lucky enough to go to one of the 1975 World Series Games. What's really Ironic is that I was born in Bronx New York and came to Cincinnati when I was 5. I became a Reds Fan at 7 (1967). My Uncle George Fisher owned the Staten Island Dry Cleaner's in the Bronx a few blocks from Yankee Stadium (You could see it from front of his shop). I have always been a Reds fan all my Relatives have always been Yankee fans. I have even held a Baseball signed by Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle (I didn't find out until 2007 what year that Baseball was signed), it was 1951, the only year that they played on the same team is what The Boss of the Mortgage Company told me, because he had a Giant framed photo of 4 Yankees together in his Office, just like the One's with Joe Morgan, Pete Rose, Johnny Bench and Tony Perez! My best friend has a Reds Room dedicated to nothing but Reds paraphernalia and collectables etc. I do agree with you and Marty. The 1990 Reds were very strong. You have to give Jose Rijo credit because he was virtually unhittable! We also had a Solid Offensive and Defensive. 1990 was awesome. Most recently I think it was 2010, we had Johnny Cueto and The National League MVP that year our First Baseman and still Team Captain Joey Vitto, both get hurt at the same time when we beat the Giants twice in Sanfrancisco and they came to Cincinnati and swept us and went on to win the World Series Championship when that should have been the Reds. As a matter of fact both I believe got hurt in the Process if Sweeping a 3 game series with the Giants at candlestick park. Voto twisted his ankle stretching a double into a Triple and Cueto developed Arm problems in that series, I'm pretty sure. It's hard to win a Championship when your best hitter and best pitcher go down. Ironically Cueto and Volquez both helped the Kansas City Royals win the World Series Championship! Without them, they lose!

Also, a friend of mine is an International Reggae recording Artist, Junior Mark. He's got TH-cam videos too. In any case Eric Davis is his Cousin. He formally introduced me to him at a Bar/Nightclub that he was part Owner of. Pretty cool dude still. The sad thing is that out of the 6 bars Nightclubs in Roselawn, only one of em (Brandy's) remains open for business. Supposedly Brownstone at the corner of Summit and Reading Rd, is supposed to be opening up again soon. Eric Davis was involved with a different one. I won't mention because I don't know if he was a silent Partner or not? In any case Eric Davis is still a Stand up guy. I also heard that he was helping and coaching Young aspiring Baseball Stars in Lexington Kentucky.

I sure miss these days at Riverfront. The stadium by no means had the intimacy and love of Crosley Field, but it had winners and legendary players, games and incredible history unlike any stadium during its relatively brief history. Some Reds fans will remember that the Spaghetti Factory was situated where Paul Brown Stadium is now located. We used to eat there before the game and go to Empress Chili after the game. I had a 1989 Mercedes 560 SL and one beautiful girl next to me.

Seven 20/20 HR/SB seasons, and the only player ever with a 35/50 season, and one of two with 25/80! and 02:01:30 is Charlton knocking Scioscia over because of how Mike blocked the Reds runner a few nights before!!!

There's a missing backstory to Charlton bulldozing Scioscia at 2:01:30. Two nights earlier, the Reds lost to the Dodgers partly because Scioscia blocked the plate to prevent a Reds' run. That was fresh in Charlton's mind when he came rambling towards the plate. Scioscia was widely known to be a plate blocker, and Charlton wasn't taking any chances.

It was originally done as a sop to the Cubs, who had a lot of big-market clout and wanted to be in the East division for better TV start times and so they could play more games against their then-archrivals the Mets. Then the Cardinals, who saw the Cubs as *their* archrivals, insisted on being in the East too.

Look how his head snapped back on the collision, Charlton paid a big price for a stupid move with a big lead. Mike was fine as he bounced right back up. Charlton is the one who had to absorb damage. Look closely at the collision. If he obliterated Mike, then why did he get right back up with no problem??
