I really hope you and your pretty lady live many years of happiness together Huub i stopped watching for a while because well i lost my 33 yr old daughter unexpectedly and been just grieving But happy to come back to see you with a new boat and and that this young lady is still here by your side . I dont like seeing you get your heart broken .your such a nice hardworking guy.
So sorry. Grief and life are so intertwined.
🙏
Great to follow along. Thank you.
Mi más sentido pésame.
Nice guys finish last
Daniella you are such an extraordinary girl. You’re doing a fantastic job of helping restore the boat, cooking, cleaning, caring for Huub, learning, and editing now - plus you look naturally beautiful doing it all no matter how hot and dirty it all gets! But what is really special is your kind and sweet character. Huub is a lucky man to have you by his side. 💙
@@CuriousHumbleMarie what ass kissing... you got money on this or something?
👍👍👍
You are persevering through this hard work because your experience lends itself to the vision you have for the new boat. Daniela doesn’t have your experience, so she trusts your vision. This trust in your leadership is very valuable! I wish you two the best, and enjoy watching the progress. Cheers!
Looking towards the future for you and Daniela, your positive mental outlook...you both will achieve this together I am certain. Do take time for each other along the way. Every day is a gift. Stay safe.
You two are living proof that your attitude determines your altitude…keep up the good work!
Daniella is a marvelous partner Huub. Not only is she a perfect host yet her cooking skills are simple exquisite. You are such a lucky man. The bottom is taking on a whole new life. While in Highschool I worked at North Shore Boat Works. My job was preparing bottoms for antifouling paint. After a day of glass prep I use to soak in a cool tub with Baking Soda to take the itch of fiber away. Keep up the good work, soon you'll be sailing this beautiful catamaran with your chosen partner. Congratulation's!
Your noticing that taking a break when the muscle is "out of energy" is exactly correct. The needed recovery time varies widely between individuals. High end athletes have fast recovery time like yours. You mentioned 10 to 15 seconds. If I were working beside you my recovery times are in the minutes. There are basic reasons why. The recovery time after exertion is a critical feature in productivity. You waiting until the muscle has largely recovered is very insightful. It is based on extensive science research. Good job.
Your patience and persistence impresses me.
As someone who travels to Grenada every year for the past 15 years, let me tell you how hot and humid it is there. (It is the Caribbean after all) Imagine doing this labor intensive back breaking work inside of sauna while wearing a plastic full body suit. Hats off to you! I pray you are able to get this boat back on the water and sailing again!
I've stripped two J24's and an International Dragon back to gel.........horrible job.
A catamaran? Forget it!
You're one tough, determined kid Huub, keeping in high spirits. Danny is looking in best shape ever....perfect, clear and glowing complexion!
Fingers crossed the structural repairs are routine. I have a feeling you already have a plan.
Bestest. xx
Earning the nicer things in life the old-fashion way.......... working for it! You and Daniela will be well rewarded in multiple ways. Persevere, stay on track, keep the dream alive, and above all, KEEP HUGGING EACH OTHER. Beautiful things should happen to beautiful, deserving people like yourselves. Thanks for inviting us in. Be well, c u next video.
I just found your channel and I think it’s so cute! Could you guys share more of Danielle’s perspective and how of she does the other work like cooking etc💕💕
I think both of you are so fortunate to have each other as mates. I so wish you could get a generator and power tools to make your labor more efficient. I admire both of you for having the fortitude to "plow on" with manual tools.
You both are working so hard. Limonada II is coming along so well. ❤
There is a lot of hull on that there catamaran!!! Pacing yourselves is the right approach and progress is being made. The video editing is really contributing to the enjoyment of watching the renovation play out.
I have never seen anyone scrape the boat paint off by hand. If you have enough tenacity to complete that task, you could do anything !
Agreed , however, using a grinder or sander would provide a much better bonding surface for the new waterproofing application and a deeper assessment of any damage . ...just sayin ..(. Composite materials SME.) ....carry on ...looking good .
@@michaellee7985 I am certain he will have to sand or plans to sand but remember they don't have Power at the moment so a bit hard to run sanders and vacuums without Power... I think this is why he is hand scrapping ...I want to buy the generator...LOL yes tenacity is amazing..
You two are awesome! I can only imagine what the boat will look like when finished!
FYI - there are scraper blades available for the oscillating multitools. If you can get one of those and the blades then scraping will go a ton faster.
Thanks for answering my questions from last week on your video.😊
Wow! Condolences to the previous owner of that boat, but congratulations that you guys have adopted it. I don't envy the conditions available to your repair, but I envy that you have each other and you are repairing a beautiful CATAMARAN!
Awesome...
and complete with delicious interruptions. You guys will do this. 😁👍
Just love watching you guys ❤
Danielle is taking good care of you with good meals. She is keeping you powered up for all that productive work. Her video editing is great. You make a good team. Cheers.🤗💖⛵🐬
Hello from California! I noticed your new boat used to be from Santa Cruz. That boat is well traveled! The cool thing about you doing all your own work is that you will know what you have…..and it’s all yours! Good luck! I enjoy the videos!
You bring me so many smiles. Thanks.
Huub + Daniela, a lot of hard work with a huge payoff at the end! You don't have to be rich in money to own a yacht! But you do need to have a wealth of energy and determination! Congrats + Cheers to you both!
She is amazing in the galley also working hard on the boat, you are a lucky man.
Use a grinder with flapper disc to lightly sharpen the blade to create a burr. (Burr is a curling of the top of the blade edge). The scraping should be pulling down not pushing. I've used those Harris scrapers to do that job a few times now.
Awesome job you two!
25 % done ..... wohoooo ! 🎉
That is a lot of hand scraping.Your work of doing all that by hand is tedious and hard, I really admire your energy and your persistence in working doing it yourself . ❤
Appreciate the hug brother! We enjoy working on ourselves with you🎉
Great Teamwork you guys! Can't wait to see you two getting away from the marina and adventuring!
Water shows no mercy, to anyone, even millionaires!! Stress of rough water, on an open water crossing, will crack a beem or keel fiberglass repair. Huub puts out great videos, but this endless praise should be questioned. Need a professional Surveyor to examine cracks. Also Huub will need a full HazMat suit and facemask for the grinding phase, the micro dust will enter lungs and eyes, skin.
Thank you for this comment. I think it should be taken very seriously! I wish all the best to Huub and Daniela, and that any vital structure holding the keel, the ruder, concerning the hull, etc., etc. might be reinforced, amended, or, if necessary, entirely replaced to eliminate all possible risks of creating new cracks, so that all attacks of rough weather and water conditions might be bravely resisted during all years of sailing to come! Also the advice concerning the health precautions during the restauration work is very valid.
I am not an expert at all, but I think that any help or advice of experienced people here in the comment section, etc., would certainly be very much appreciated.
Dear Huub and Daniela, I really enjoy your videos, your positivity, your gratitude towards life which shows great humbleness, and the great loving kindness you are showing towards other people as well! Much love and many blessings to you and everyone reading this!
Editing is starting to look professional. Pacing id consistent. Music is appropriate. Video tells a clear story. Good job!
So cool ...u got this 👍
Great progress I scraped a hull with my Dad as a kid you just have to keep going it will end. Kudos to Danni for making a scraping video fun to watch. Really looking forward to seeing how you tackle the keel.
Wow big job Huub and Daniella what a great couple you are,I am excited for you both when as you work to achieve your dream.Daniella is such a beautiful special lady.So happy for you both!
Great video!
Working like a machine. Impressive.
Having a generator is always handy. I remember living in Darwin without power for three months after Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Day 1974. I realised almost immediately that getting my hands on a generator was top priority! My garage was a shed separate from the house and it had collapsed on top of my car, and although damaged, I got the car going. As I backed out, the whole shed literally imploded and turned into a pile of rubble. I drove out of what was left of Darwin and managed to buy a Honda generator at a highway gas station 30 miles out of town! I had that thing for over 30 years and it proved a lifesaver over and over again!
I think he has one but it's very low power but I'm wondering if it would recharge battery power tools. 🤔
I think a small portable generator would be a very good idea. It would be ideal to run a belt sander and make quick work of the hull.
Any time I've ever sanded or grinded the bottom paint, I learned that even just one layer of Tyvek suit wasn't enough - I doubled up the suits, then wore latex gloves, then used masking tape around wrists and ankles.....virtually no burn at all at end of day. Also, I did have a full head re-breather that I used to keep it off my head and neck or from breathing it (even when you're scraping, you are generating toxic dust...just so you know). Good luck
Ok saw you on those other guys Live stream ..awesome more cruisers working and playing together...Kewl...
I am so happy for your good fortune
This women loves u 4 ever dont u know true heart given to u means 4 ever!!!❤ask her?
The key to doing it correctly is to use the right tool for the job. In this case a grinder with a flap disc. You'd finish in a fraction of the time.
Very impressive so pleased I found you guys 😊
You've been away from the Netherlands too long if you need an umbrella! Great job on the boat!
Not only more luxurious and comfort, but you will also be able to sail a lot faster and motor a lot more efficiently. It wouldn't hurt to let an engineer look at that damage. It is better to be safe as it is to be sorry.
Reach out as far as you can with the scraper and make long strokes and put your whole body into every stroke. Doing this will distribute your energy use throughout your body also establishing a rhythm and keep a pattern will keep you from going over spots more than you need to which intern will save you time. Use this technique for everything you do (sanding and painting) and get a hold of an extension pole for your paint roller and save you a lot of bending.
Hi Huub and Daniella! I love your new boat.
Your attitude is highly commendable. Along with that will come success.
You definitely have more tenacity than the anti foul paint! That is some serious elbow grease, but what you have to gain is a lot more in exchange! Thanks for sharing your experiences, qué tengan lo mejor, y que el viento llene las velas bién!
Thanks Karson!
You only need one scraper blade. Just keep a flat file on you and give the edge a few strokes every once in a while.
We need more cooking/recipe content from the amazing Daniela!
You and Daniela make a great team. I've noticed the videos improviing and that is no doubt due to the lovely Daniela's hard work and great imagination. Keep it up. I look forward to your videos every week!
Great attitude and work ethic! Your personality and lifestyle are inspirational. You got this my dude!
I appreciate that!
Have you considered a battery powered grinder with a couple of batteries? It will be useful for grinding out the surface of the areas in need of repair.
There are solar generators available made by companies like Jakery and Bluetti that might be helpful.
I would work for those meals. You're eating like a king!
Lekker bezig hoor 💪🏻😉
My home where I grew up 😢😢😢
Your girl friend is priceless!!!!!
Man o man, I could not do that for that long...
I admire your dedication.
Those special sanding pads that you can put on a grinder work well. Or an orbital sander with 60 or 80 grit pads.
Wow, I can't believe how much antifouling is on there. You inherited several layers. But when you have finished she'll be just right!
stimmt, das ist wirklich sehr viel...😝😓
Great work guys love the videos
You have a really great lady with you!
Good work guys , you gone make yourselves a nice, comfortable boat.
I was thinking maybe you should use a tarp to catch most of that stuff you’re scraping instead of letting it go in the ground. Just an idea , have fun 😄
You're earning it!
Fastest and eazyest way is ofcorse power tools or wetsandblasting. But with no electricity you cant do that.
Im super impressed that you hawe the energy to skrape the whole boat by hand.
As you say its worth it for the future.
And its a huge upgrade from the boat you two lived on sofar.
Love your energy.
❤❤ from sweden 🇸🇪
Totally agree!
great work.
Watching you work, I can see you are better off without power tools. Music, rhythm, and intimate contact with your project... your not just working on that boat, you are bonding with it...
👍
Goed bezig Huub
Vooral doorgaan, het eindresultaat wordt geweldig 👍🏻💪🏻
PS I like the m12 cordless tools for boat work because you can use them when away from the dock and they are safer when at doc. I always worry about the corded tool falling in the water.
Pig skin leather gloves are the best for hard hand work and they don't get all gross and dry bad when they get wet like cowhide
For grinding fiberglass I usually avoid the angle grinder as much as possible. It makes a huge mess, uses a ton of power, it’s noisy, and hard to control. Instead I like a right angle drill motor with a 3 inch grinding disc. I use the 3M green rolloc disks such as 3M 36525 in the 3m 5540 holder. For a drill motor I use Milwaukee m12 2415-20. This works quite well. It walks right into the glass, it’s very controllable, light, the battery life is fine ( though I have a ton of m12 batteries), there is a lot less mess, and the discs last a long time. I can control the 2415-20 with one hand. You may not be able to get exactly this where you are but consider trying something similar. For even less mess you can put a vacuum nozzle right where the disc leaves the glass and catch most of it.
When repairing cracks in fiberglass cut a taperer groove onto the crack at a 12 to 1 angle on both sides of the crack and then fill the groove with new glass. I like to build up on the inside also when possible.
Also consider an electric file/band file, which is a tiny low speed belt sander such as Milwaukee m12 2482-20 which is another one handed tool that removes a lot of material in a very controlled way. I don’t have the m12 tool for this but rather have a less expensive corded tool, because I use it less often. Again you can run it in one hand and hold the vacuum hose in the other and not put a lot of material in the air/ down your sleeve/ down your collar, etc.
Fully agree with this comment. I woul try the drill, but with a a bronze wire cup brush. It's at about 55 U$S in Amazon, but I belive that solution is much less effort consuming.
Use oscillating multitool, battery charged by solar? Or power tools by gas generator unit.
Your an animal skipper"
Great job !
Not sure if someone has mentioned this but those scrapers only wrok on the pull stroke if sharpened correctly. A file works well, grinder takes too much off the blade. don't make the edge flat, it needs a slight curve so that it bites. You also can use your body weight on the pull stroke, easier than pushing. Search for this on YT: How to use a 4-edge blade paint scraper. | Hyde Tools
That was hard to watch, admire the perseverance.
Dude, use a grinder with flap disks, so much faster and easier than scraping!
Keep that mule fed and it'll keep on pulling!
Cats are the best
Soda blaster or phnematic needle scaler? For glass insulation corn starch on exposed skin before. My experience though just to cover everything. Good work. I see a possible path to a affording a boat like this, and it's exciting
I just saw a recommendation for a Bosch 150 Turbo grinder.
Hola chicos ayúdenme a saber si aún es posible encontrar algún otro catamarán parecido a esa presiosura ⛵ que se pueda restaurar por un precio módico,,ese es mi sueño 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Congratulations on the good work you are doing and keep going with everything ok blessings 🙏
Making progress one scrape at a time.
After watching you build a house in the middle of nowhere, I have all the faith in the world in you. although this will be a little hard scrubbing, this will be a breeze for you and worth it when done. I was actually thinking about you getting a cat once you got your girlfriend you needed a lot more room
If you have scratches in the gellcoat from scraping the waterline, you can raise the waterline to cover them.
I think a better deal than you got cat for, is whatever deal you got daniela with. She seems to good, pretty, and fun to be true like she might surprise you with some past history she had as serial killer or something. Lol.
See if you can buy a generator off of another totaled boat as you would love to have that in the future!
Exciting stuff…can’t wait for next episode….watching paint dry!
(Only joking, as I am working on my cat during the day, what better entertainment for the evening)
As my neighbor, Mr. Vanderhoven would say, if it ain’t Dutch it ain’t much
Huub, I will have to ask you how old you are next time we talk, because I want to say it is a good thing you are a young guy. just watching you do this manually makes me exhausted.
You two are just amazing.always inspiring me. Greetings from germany😊
Thank you so much!
Super gedaan Huub!!!!!
Met ondersteuning van je fantastische vriendin
