Fun stuff as always guys! The material of those panels on the overhead is called ACM- or aluminum composite material. Comes in all kinds of thickness' and it ain't cheap! A 4'x8' x 1/4"thick panel here in the states is 200 bananas- so it is smart to salvage what u can from the demo to repurpose like u are doing. Be safe and stay in front of the wind! 😻

Wow! You are motivating me to go ahead and move forward with my demolition. I have been reluctant to tear down walls until I'm ready to replace...but I do see the value in going ahead and removing everything now. At a minimum, it will give me time to work within the space and determine exactly what I want to do with it. I think I'm going to go ahead and turn the VIP Stateroom on Quixote into a larger bath for my stateroom - but the main portion of it will be converted into a full sized work-shop prior to entering the engine room. This will also serve as my main battery bank compartment with all my stacked victron invertors and batteries. This will keep them dry and out of the engine room leaving more space in there for the hydraulic pump and watermaker that are currently housed in other areas of Quixote. Look forward to more renovations from you!

I have built houses, completely gutted and renovated houses and the same goes with trucks and cars. I have watched many boat Reno's and builds. I know that watching how you both handle this project will be quite valuable for my own plans. Only issue is my wife's not in for the challenge. I wonder if Lana has a single sister 😂

That water line looks like old semi rigid pex. The actual pex is pretty good, all the leaks will be in the right angles and tees. I just went through an RV with the same stuff and replaced all the tees. The Pex Pipe is actually better although it toesn't do anything but go straight. It doesn't crack or leak. Good stuff. I admit that I got a roll of newer pex, I wasn't impressed with it but that is what is available now, it does bend and sometimes that's what you need. Let me know if I've described your pex and leak situations ????
For insulation I'd consider spraycork. Maybe reach out to fellow youtubers "odd life crafting" and "sail hub" . They tested it in their vans and, as fare as I know, will use it in their new aluminum boats. Several of the Dutch and French aluminum boat yards use it as they get a complete thermal bridge break.
My pv panels (vertically mounted on a south facing wall) reduced the wall temperature with 10C behind the pv panel on a hot summers day (25-30C air temp) in Norway.

The solar on the roof will trap more heat in the tropics so keep the inside isulation but replace the expensive double skin Al panels.. with something lighter and more sound absorbing.
Consider using heat reflective paint.
I’m sure you know to be careful when screwing around with the insulation. Some of what they did is to control condensation. Considerations should be given or you can end up with a wet mess on an aluminum boat. Good luck! Can’t wait to see the final product.

In your last video you said you would be making some modifications. I didn’t know you were gutting the boat, and basically redesigning everything. A private head is a must on a boat. I don’t care how long you’re married, there are some things you do where you want privacy.😏 The lighter the boat, especially under sail will make a big difference. Awesome video!

Wow..that was a fortune in ACM panels… that would have been a hard call. That stuff is strong won’t rot, relatively light and wont oil can. Love the boat and the build…
Have you seen how Balance Catamarans install their solar panels? ...They raise them off the surface they cover for passive cooling... I've heard them rave about how it is way, way better... but I don't really have personal experience....
Looks like another boat makeover. Love the combo of the old "CHEESEHEAD" AND THE Beautiful Russian dentist. I am an old cheesehead dentist, but I don't have a partner like that. It's the smell of sharp cheddar that gets them every time! lol

That material is “Reynobond “, I owned a Sign Shop & used it for signs. Aluminum on both sides , it’s made by RJ (?) Reynolds, I think it’s same company that makes Reynolds Wrap. It’s very strong , indestructible, and will probably be here with Cockroaches, after we’re all gone!

So what about a perforated aluminum sheeting for you ceilings. Light a breathable... "industrial" but finished look. drill all the broken stainless out and you could mount it with aluminum rivets and aluminum screws...no mix of metal...
Toilets should be Separate from the Shower room.. You Need your privacy.

You know you are violating Thailand law. You are not allowed to work at all there. Even on your own property. What you posted online could get you arrested and deported.
Good day. We show the work for video but actually have all legal Thai workers and contractors doing work. We also have special Visa in Thailand. The Country, people are amazing, food excellent, and workers very easy to locate.

@ be careful there They get crazy about that. Five years max jail and fine. I had a friend in Phuket that got arrested and ended up with a huge fine for just making change at his wife’s coffee shop.
