Having an experienced builder makes all the difference in the world, so when you and Daniela are sailing the high seas you will have peace of mind in the interity of the vessel. Hard work, dedication, and something I call "sticktoittivness" will all come together in the end for a vessel you will be very, very proud of....... and rightly so. Thanks for sharing Huub, so much education here you are sharing with all of us. Fantastic video!
Great video. Your channel is both culturally and educationally informative. Both of you guys have a great temperament for this work. Your boat builder's voice reminds me of Sean Connery with a Dutch accent!
This guy is really, really good. I love his confidence in his skills and knowledge. One of my favorite episodes, for sure. Huub, your eagerness to learn and your willingness to show all of us the prosses is what made this episode great, Thank you.
Your mate is a boat structural and fibreglass wizard. Hats off man. If I ever need my boat fixed I’d fly you in from anywhere you wanted. Dude looks like Kelly Slaters long lost twin brother 🏄🏼♂️ 😂
Killer job. Im so happy for you. Most channels would have taken months if not year or two to get here but you already tackling one of the biggest jobs. incredible
The real challenge that you guys are facing is doing fiberglass work upside down. When this vessel as made, the builders had it easy. When gravity is not in your favor, you have to be the best. Can't wait for the next video.
Wow that was the most comprehensive fibreglass tutorial ever. Might be boring to some people but I found it fascinating and educational. Definitely picked up tips and skills watching this. Thanks.
This has got to be the best repair video on TH-cam! So informative and amazingly cool just seeing the process you have gone through from day one. Keep up the great work, your willingness to work so hard for your dream is extremely inspiring. 😎🤙
Thank God you knew that bloke.!! You've gone from reck to a nearly water ready boat, Hubb! That dude needs a bonus. he's sorted you right out there.! I'm looking forward to that catamaran sitting in the drink m8.!!! Give that pro a pat on the back from me, dude!.. 🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧👍👍👍
This is one of those video's that can teach people so well about this process. Glad it's coming together I feel like now we are over the mountain top and it's just gonna go so much faster from here. Thank for sharing all of this, and Huub say a great thanks to the guy helping and educating us all about this process and the RIGHT way to do this.
Hi and good evening from Norfolk, UK. Well Huub i have to first say that you two guys work well together and for sure Rolf is a true tradesman. What is great to see is that this is the guy you needed, a professional and a friend, i am delighted for you. For sure this was a major task and you are doing it right. I wish you every success. Best regards, Roy.
❤well done both of you how lucky are you to have a friend like that really enjoyed this episode as was really wondering how the repair of such a massive area of damage was going to be accomplished😊
I'm so happy for you, Huub! Watching the evolution of this channel has been an inspiration. I'm glad you found this amazing friend to help speed the process of getting you back into the water! Cheers!
Having designed, built and repaired fiberglass boats you are spot on to a fix. Frankly this is easier I think than if the boat was built in wood. When finished, it should look just like new, probably stronger.
This looks absolutely horrid. So much respect to you for taking on this kind of project. It takes an absolute mad man to do something like this. I truly hope this boat turns out to be everything you want it to be and makes all the itchy nights worth it. 🤘
Your friend makes the layup process look easy ! Anyone who has ever done this knows it’s not easy at all. I’d be wearing a third , a third on the ground , and the rest looking like a mess. It takes a lot of grinding to make me look competent.
This repair should be done in no time with someone who's doing such a great job looks like you are on the way to dipping this shortly after the new year. Great work and better content than most of the repair videos i have seen. This expert is doing a great job teaching you and us proper technique and showing the way to do it right the first time. Great video and I look forward to seeing next week's update. Getting things done for an epic time in the future of the channel.
Hey Huub you are a funny guy, like your patience how you approach your rebuild, with ease and you seam very relaxed, with the different damaged parts on that ship, some others would already walked away from it, keep your good work up and get the old lady back in to floating condition, how is Daniela girly doing you must miss her
Top notch professional fiberglass repair ! Just make sure you clean the surfaces very well with very wet acetone or de-greaser....as gelcoat grinding leaves lots of wax behind and can compromise the new lamination work
I really enjoyed this video and seeing the fiberglass techniques was really interesting. Watching the two of you start to repair a part of the boat and then discover that more needs to be done is usually what happens to me when I work on somethigng around the house. Not only were both of you were covered with white dust then you were covered with epoxy drippings. 🙂
Great video Huub very interesting, your friend is an expert in fiberglass repair and a learning experience for me on how it should be done..thanks for sharing its looking good!
Suggestion: While you have the keel opened up finish removing the styrofoam, add another layer of epoxy and fiber glass and add a bulkhead about one third from the rear, and make the rear part a integral fuel tank and the front part an integral water tank. Add baffles in each tank about every two feet from the rear to the front. When you install the top, install inspection hatches centered over each baffle so each compartment can be inspected and cleaned in the future. Use a food grade epoxy on the whole interior of the water tank and an appropriate epoxy finish coat on the fuel tank. Do this with both keels and you'll both strengthen the keels, add water and fuel capacity and get those weights down lower in the boat for better stability. Check out this video from Atomvoyager who has many videos of building in integral tanks in older boats. These save space and maximize the existing space in boats, usually getting liquids down low for greater stability as well. th-cam.com/video/mtj7tVZ3uUo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7RBHjxf55gNRMIeP Building an Integral Bilge Water Tank, atomvoyager
Great work Huub. Your friend is a machine. The repair is being done very well in my opinion. I am sure we are all curious where Daniella is? I imagine she is just trying to stay away from the mess for while. Hope all is going well for you. Really enjoying your videos. Now I watch you and Sail Life every Sunday. The DIY videos are so enjoyable when the work is being done well. Love it.
Tanfastic Huub n Rolph 🎉 Great team work 👏 💪 Explained in detail what a Craftsman Mind the Dust its a killer in Later Life ..COPD..😮 STAY FREE AND SAFE ❤
I had to chuckle a bit while you were scraping away African dream thinking to myself more like African nightmare ! But once it’s all back together and isn’t leaking at least you don’t have to call it bath tub , it’s starting to look like a keel again, I’m still itching just watching ya 😆
Wonderful and serious work. Compliment! I wonder if you collect all the PVC and paint residue on the ground or if you leave it to the wind and rain. I think, as a sea lover, it would be better if you could remove the residue from the contaminated soil as much as possible and burn it. What do you think?
Great video series and great job done so far. How do you ensure that both keels are 100% parallel and showing the same dimensions (depth, etc.)? OK - partly answered...
Excellent! Really coming together now. Love the title. dont forget to use "hurricane damaged" as lots of search on that 🙂 Are you going to make all the floors access plates now :-?
It's so interesting. All the different steps that has to be done for your repairs, I'm happy to see all your hard work starting to pay off and getting closer to completion. How is Daniela doing, is she okay?
Buddy is a PHD in fiberglass applications. Top notch!
Yes! He really knows his stuff.
@@HuubVlogs That is REALLY good fiberglass laydown. Nice and flat, good penetration, smooth. Best I've seen I think.

Great job Huub! Hope Danielle is well too!

Damn Huub! Your friend is an artist with fiberglass and epoxy! 😊
You are soooo lucky to have a friend that is a professional in boat repair. Without him I think it would take forever to fix.😄
It is wonderful how you introduce us to all your sailing friends. Its an amazing community.
This guy is really, really good. I love his confidence in his skills and knowledge. One of my favorite episodes, for sure. Huub, your eagerness to learn and your willingness to show all of us the prosses is what made this episode great, Thank you.

Thanks Matt!

Such a pleasure to watch a master at his work - take nothing away from yur own work ethic !!
Wow. I had no idea how you'd end up repairing the most significant damage. The last 2 weeks have really been insightful. Really coming together!
Awesome stuff but now I am certain that I want an aluminium boat...👍
Congratulations! Your salvage boat is going to float! What an amazing friend. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing work let’s hope it’s strong enough. Very Professional technique . Thanks

another good show enjoyed the relaxed approach not like some shows the sky is falling
They are having some problems over at sailing with the Wynn's, and making some drama out of it for sure.
UMA and We Sail are the worst . it is all about ME ME ME for those guys
