@@X_MANGO__ As a ball main, the rework was good in that it didn't mess up any tech and gave extra options to reach high ground for those who don't know the tech. But it didn't fix anything that was fundamentally problematic (CC stacking, Sombra, Junk trap etc). They need to make a game-wide change around CC. Right now, I hard roll teams with no counter-picking (which shouldn't be so easy) but once they pull out 3-4 counters, Ball is like torture (which shouldn't be the case). A middleground would be nice. Also ball still sucks against 90% of other tanks.
honestly lol tanks are awful to play with and against. imo, the highest skill tank in low skill in OW2's own bubble because of it. (not to be confused with playing good players hard the actual mechanics and skill requirment)
I like to play tank, you just need to turn on a second neuron and do stuff with a purpose. Ever since I onetricked for 6 months Doom my performance got 10 times better on every other hero as well.
@@imrendered I used to play Overwatch before the rebranding to the second edition. Tanks were my favourite characters to play. When I was playing as Sigma, I was the one who really knew how to play him optimally. I was even able to play him successfully in deathmatches. I played OW(1) on a friends account and got to enjoy it. Then made my own when OW2 was released. I mainly played Hanzo/Junkrat/Echo and then became a Doom Main. The playstyle is so unique. Looking back, i now see what all these original OW1 Pros said about how bad some changes from OW2 are. For me, i now had to stop play Doom, cause its literally impossible to enjoy the game. And looking at him for an example, i see the game having core-issues but only new stuff added. I play OW2 when i stop playing other games but i accept, that i cant main this game anymore in this state. (Edit: Im GER so sorry for my spelling, hope its right :)
I have a solution to that: Force activity to maintain top 500 (or 100 in this case) You can't camp many slots if you HAVE to play often to maintain a slots, because playing also means going up and down
@@violet9214 I agree, but they tried that years ago in og ow, and people cried and used the excuse of "I don't have time to play all the time". And that is fair, because most normal people with a 9-5, really wouldn't have time to play hours each day to hold top 500/100. What ruins it, is people stream/content creators, who play the game like a fulltime, because at the end of the day, it is a fulltime job for them. It would suck to be knocked out of top 500/100 because you don't have time to play, but at the same time, if you did have enough time to play, it would give people a chance to take up slots that streamers/content creators can't camp on.
@@violet9214tbh that wouldn't work either unless you had to play a large number of games. Pros/streamers can easily play 10 games a week on multiple accounts you would have to require a pretty high number

honestly the biggest thing for me is just how terrible the map pool is at the moment. Most of my games are either flashpoint, clash, or robot, which genuinely bore me

@@Cooltorito yes its a problem, every single FPS you can inspect but in overwatch NOOOO you gotta pay for it, classic blizzard never change the game is destined to die one day. Might be good/ok now but what about in 10 years.... probably not, I would like to be proven wrong tho.
The problem is that would be fine if it was a brand new game. But for those of us who adored OverWatch 1, OverWatch 2 will always leave a sour taste in our mouths.
I might be in the minority (I started playing OW1 consistently in 2019) but I still really enjoy the core gameplay. It's very fast, dynamic and rewards quick thinking/good decision making. Comboing ults and abilities with perfect timing gives a special kind of dopamine. It feels very satisfying as a sweaty gamer 😅 Even though sometimes it's just a chaotic mess, it's a beautiful chaotic mess imo. Of course more could be done as far as certain characters receiving skins, balance changes etc. I like how the game feels and still truly enjoy grinding ranked (I have a lot of friends who play which helps IMMENSELY) and improving my game sense/mechanics 🤙 I still see myself improving even after playing for 5 years. @@nathancasey7712
Great job, Yeat. Overwatch has become such low hanging fruit for rage bait that its nice to hear from someone who genuinely plays the game and sees it for what it is, instead of what it isnt.

Regarding what you said at the end, an Overwatch animated show could be incredible (*if done well and not just made as a cash grab). Imagine the best shorts with a half-decent story arc. We would eat that shit up as OW slaves and there's massive potential for them to make so many new fans.
Riot spent $10 million per episode on production alone for Arcane. They probably spent another $30-40 million on marketing. There's just no way Blizzard would ever be willing to spend that much on what is essentially a prestige ad campaign. Not just because of a difference in corporate principles, but because a cursory cost-benefit analysis will tell you that there's simply no way they could get a return on investment for Overwatch, which has a much smaller player base than League of Legends and low penetration into the all-important East Asian consumer base
It sucks since they were working on a show at one point, but it ended up getting cancelled. Not sure if we’d ever get to see an Overwatch show in the future.

I recently came back and besides a month or so when OW2 launched, i haven't really played since 2019 or 2020. I aggree that they improved a lot of things and there is a good foundation now. But the most disappointing part to me is just the level of toxicity even in quickplay. After role queue launched, there was almost like this golen age of QP. The games had somewhat good quality and people where very chill for the most part. When i came back, i've spend the first couple of days just getting flamed for not knowing how to play. And that just seems to be the normal experience these days. It feels like people expect you to take QP as serious as comp and if you want to try out new characters, you just have to accept that you're getting flamed for the entire session. I also don't recall running into people throwing QP games in OW1 but in OW2 it happens all the time. It's just very exhausting and after talking to some friends, they also recommended to not just leave VC but also mute text chat. Which is very sad, but also very reasonable imo And after 3 months, alongside visibile scoreboards i think the main reason for this toxicity is that blizzard punishes you a lot more for leaving QP games. I don't think players got more toxic but in OW1 if someone got tilted, they just left the game instead of making their anger everyone elses problem. In OW2 you're kinda stuck with every lobby, so people get angry and can't leave. But it's still QP so they also don't have a reason try to win. Toxicity and throwing just seems to be the logicial consequence of that.
Literally this right here. I personally have always said that punishing people for leaving the casual game mode is by far the worst thing they could ever lean towards. All it does is create this incentive for people to throw games or argue with their team because they're forced to be stuck together unless they want to suffer matchmaking penalties. I never understood why people pushed for this so hard when it's just made things infinitely worse in the long run.
The point closest to spawn is uncappable if the enemies aren't griefing and a guaranteed win for the losing team + they get to take positions on the next point because they lived the fight/whoever died is way closer. So you can lose one equal fight one almost equal and win a completely one sided and the score is only 1-2 out of 5 and now you have the advantage again. Ridiculous thinking by blizzard
@@Swatotasticyeah I was playing with my friend in GOLD and they got us to the last point and they just sat on the same point they capped and I was like “what the hell, how do they know about this?”😂
I'm a GM DPS player. 6v6 feels a lot better for DPS for me, if we're using the 6v6 custom as a basis for comparison. It is always brought up that we have more individual player agency in 5v5. This may be true for Tank, but certainly is not true for DPS. In 5v5 there are 4 targets we can meaningfully interact with. The tank is excluded, since as an individual DPS player, we can't do anything against a tank a vast majority of the time. In 6v6, there are 6 enemies we can meaningfully interact with, as we can actually threaten a tank. That to me is more agency, and I have enjoyed it in the 6v6 custom.
Tanks definitely also have more agency in 6v6. 5v5 involves getting hard countered by 3 people at once and/or face tanking all the enemy team's cooldowns. I've had so many games where I've hard carried but then lost because the enemy team at some point decided to prevent me from playing the game and my team couldn't capitalize. I think supports do gain a lot in terms of agency in 5v5. In general, supports and DPS have more space to work with since the off tank isn't there to lock down every off angle.
I'm quite bad and I agree with this. Even when the enemy tank is clearly lost and alone (happens a lot in silver) there's virtually no point to interacting with them 1v1, its just absurd. Didn't used to be like that.
@@averageagarthianman I was there when we had the double shield tank meta and it was horrible. A lot of people quit there too. So I'm not at all convinced 6v6 will be better than what we have now. It's certainly better to counter Widowmaker but I can't see support jobs having more fun with that. Their ults are also pretty OP when combined. They couldn't balance it in OW1, when there were fewer heroes, what makes you think they can now? But I guess we'll find out soon enough.
@@Seraphina_FF14 I didn't necessarily like double shield or whatever previous metas existed, although I didnt really mind as a Mccree player. What I certainly don't like is the current state of these colossal tanks. I would rather shoot at shields than to tuck my tail and run away whenever I encounter one of them. I preferred it the old way, I didn't feel so impotent as a DPS. But I've really lost track of all the changes, its likely a larger combination of stuff that makes me feel so weak now. 6v6 is not the answer to the problem I perceive anyway, I would just hope that it leads to a revert of tank buffs.
@averageagarthianman if you are getting hard owned by an enemy tank in a 5v5 format. You are likely to get destroyed by 2 tanks in 6v6 format as well. If you want me to guess, you were gold or silver back ow 1 ,maximum plat.
one major thing that i noticed this year and i feel like people aren't talking about is that fan-made content is here again! obviously it has always been there but it really peaked at around 2017 with tons of animations, fan art, unique youtube content, memes and even just clips. this year feels so much more alive than any other year since 2018-2019. it truly makes the game feel way more alive for me when i can just go on twitter and see hundreds of tweets of awesome fan art and fan noncanon lore, and i can go on tiktok / youtube and see animations for the first time in forever and some posts getting 100s of thousands of likes
No matter how flawed and hated a franchise is I always find a way to enjoy it because of how cool and charismatic the characters are and Overwatch is a perfect example of this.
"cool and charismatic" characters come from the stories, not from how they look, what stories do the new characters bring? If you were speaking about OG characters/stories than yea you are right.
can I just say that ranked feels worse. like winning and losing is up down 20%, streaks mean nothing, but the worst thing of all by far is the ranked resets. Like in lower ranks I am placed with ppl who don't deserve teh rank higher or lower and it's hell
Remember, its not just tank players that want 6v6. People who had 10+ minute queue times would prefer risking that to what we have now. Many of them also trust this new team more with that system.
i mean for a game that is still active for the past 8 years, it is a very big feat already. some dont even last for 2 or 3 weeks . nothing lasts forever. OW is already a very succesful game in its own right.
9:45 Being someone who played through the entirety of 6v6's dead seasons I absolutely think the game flows better for every role if that 2nd tank exists. The difference is night and day to me - extra mitigation served to balance the supports' broken AoE utility by making it so it had to be timed right to when both tanks' guards were down, and the off tank being able to peel for supports and backline dps took off a bunch of the pressure for them when it came to facing down dive. Hell, a lot of the supports who enjoy being a powerhouse protector in 5v5 can then just make the jump to off tank in 6v6 since its effectively the same playstyle, which means that the roles' queue times will balance out much better.
6V6 will be so much better. I miss the off-tank role. I used to play all 3 roles consistently in OW1, but when it went to 5v5, i stopped. I'm so bad on tank now that I apologize after each match when doing my tank placements.
Hey buddy, you know the role coming back from 6v6 will be MAIN tank and not off tank right? A shield tank will now be mandatory just like it was in OW1. And now tank players will be pressured to play shield tanks more than ever before in OW2.
@@georgealvarez1195you can definitely get away with playing just off tanks in 6v6 and you won't be forced to swap due to counterswaps as they were not as bad in 6v6 to deal with

So happy i gave up on this game. i will give OW some credit for being the first mainstream hero shooter success in the last decade but then died a silent death because ' insert drama'
This video was awesome. I've been wanting to play overwatch again, but was nervous because of how it was when it released. I'm glad to see that they made some much needed improvements. Thanks for the video. First time watcher and I happily subscribed
it's so refreshing to hear someone not shit on overwatch. Speaking from a new players perspective - I've played for 2 weeks and I'm having a blast, also I am having a blast playing TANK, is it going to change when I will play ranked? Possibly, I might suck at the game and won't go past silver, which will cause me to be frustrated, but skill issue ig and it won't be a problem if my attitude towards the game doesn't change. I think that ow2 player base has the same issue League of Legends' player base has which is community itself, League when played with turned off chat is a whole different game, same goes for overwatch, as long as I ignore people raging at me for diving 1v5 as doom and insta dying I am having fun, when I pay attention to them it ain't fun anymore ( also ik league's in a terrible spot but it's besides the point and the devs already are working on making the game fun according to Tyler1 and making T1 say that is quite a accomplishment). So yeah that's my bullshit rant Cool vid bro
The people who shit on the game are the people who came from a superior version of the game you play. The game is bad when compared to OW1. It is BAD, because the only time I'll have fun on tank is in openqueue, the flaws stick out like a saw thumb when you have experience with the game. The worst of OW1 is better than what we have now
@Number1RichPianaFan nostalgia for what? The content drought? I am not an OG player. Actually, I only started playing the game in 2020 after echo's release. What do I HAVE to be nostalgic over? A dead game I am nostalgic over? Sure.
thank you!! i'm so sick of youtubers just making another hate video and mentioning the sexual assault allegations for the nth time and reducing the game to where the company the is MANAGING it could end up in the future. overwatch was a better game even in brig's heyday than most of other shooters out there.
I really liked what you said about the speed at which community feedback effects balancing now. I used to be neutral on 5v5 vs 6v6, but having seen firsthand that they really don't know how to balance 5v5, I've become a pretty strong advocate for the return of two tanks. Many people I've spoken to about it whine about stuff like Goats or generally horrible eras of balancing like double shield as a point against it, and I honestly don't think people give enough credit to just how badly a lack of ANY balancing effected 6v6. During Overwatch 1's lifespand, the dev team seemed very willfully ignorant or accepting of absolutely broken heroes almost as though they couldn't see how they could ever get things wrong (see launch Brig), but nowadays the dev team (for all the shit we give them) is actively engaged with the community. While sometimes they'll put out some ASS patches, its so important to recognise that dogshit patches usually only stick around for a few weeks max, as opposed to a year and a half as they would have previously. In my eyes, the only real argument against 6v6 that holds up to scrutiny is queue times, but I would argue with two tanks making hard counters less of an issue, and the dev team being more proactive with balancing, its not unlikely that tank could become popular enough to counter the lengthened queue times we'd see from 6 players per team.
Let's not forget the sheer number of Off Tanks and DPS-Tanks compared to Main Tanks, even if you get a game with 2 DPS players on Tank you won't be at a disadvantage.
@@aaronolson6736 This is actually a very good point, I've seen people whining that two tanks will only result in one tank taking Roadhog and going on dumb flanks and to be honest I do not see the issue. I would rather have one main tank with a flanking Roadhog than one tank who's getting diffed any day. It's also good to analyse "off-tanks" as they are now, trying to fit into a system not made for them, because it's very easy to hypothesise what the meta tank will be based on recent balance patches before the meta even forms. Dva and Winston becoming strong after the armour changes was EXTREMELY easy to predict because they have been turned into main tanks for a 5v5 environment, and their kits are far too versatile to be easily balanced for 5v5 because they can easily accomplish so many jobs with little in the way of hard counters. Fortunately for some, this is actually a meta where Ball is quite good because of rush/dive being strong right now, but people may have noticed how easy it is to tell when Ball is going to be absolutely fucking useless for a season, because his nature as an off-tank first and foremost means that he still doesn't have the capacity to cover teammates who aren't self sufficient. I also think it's worth stating that I absolutely agree with designing the game around giving individuals more agency, OW1 WAS far too teamwork reliant in a game where 99% of players, even at high ranks, aren't truly coordinating. I just think 6v6 can coincide with that increased agency, especially keeping in mind how little hard CC exists in Overwatch 2.
@@epoch7661If my tank is getting diffed I can just go Zen/Ana and force a tank diff in my tanks favor. With 2 tanks that wouldn't be possible because Zen just wouldn't survive with the amount of mobility creep two tanks can just roll you over and Ana would go back to being forced to healbot both tanks with no time to make any proactive plays.
@@WindReiter10 Do you know how much would have to be rolled back or changed? It's not just slapping another tank in the mix, obviously, but the idea would be for heroes like Zen to be playable even into two dive tanks. It might be tricky, but you'd walk back things like knock back reduction, lower sleep dart cooldown, etc, and health numbers would once again be brought down. Zen has been perfectly playable for many OW1 metas, and even current Zen relies heavily on peel from others to survive, I think you may be overestimating the difference in oppressiveness between current dive and a hypothetical two tank dive given all the changes that would need to be made for two tanks to return anyway.
Yeatle stop, your video was too positive, remember that everyone hates overwatch and no other emotion is acceptable. Next video needs more complaining and less answers okay
It's a breath of fresh air to hear someone who isn't shitting on the game and whining about nostalgia for ow1, the gameplay of overwatch I think is objectively the best it's ever been, but the controversies with pve and blizzard in general have really put people off this game. If. Ow2 was the original game it would still win game of the year
8:40 They felt as if the game was too “teamy”? Isn’t that the whole point of the “Team-based shooter” that they made? It really just shows you how out of touch they are with what made the game so great And then they said there was less room for individual impact in 6v6 when ironically, you had way more impact in that format than you do now in 5v5 because you can actually kill tanks or supports in 6v6 because of their lower stats and weaker cooldowns. This enabled players to go for big plays and it gave them more room to get value whereas in 5v5, you can’t even kill a tank or support anymore especially as a dps because their stats are through the roof at their floor in addition to all these gimmicky role passives making them much harder to kill. It quite literally goes against their goal of “player agency”.
Preach! Dude if you've ever tried to focus down a support using a tank in ow2, you know it's pure agony. In the original game it was much easier for everyone to kill someone on their own (with supports obv having the hardest time with it, as they should). Now everyone has self healing, 50 different speed boosts and mobility abilities, there are no stuns you can use to pin someone down, it's just horrible. You can't start plays anymore, the only way to do something is using someone else's mistake, instead of creating the opportunity yourself.
I would say the cinematics recently weren't awful (the Mauga one was actually pretty cool imo and has an art style ripe for a "Saturday night" Talon cartoon), but seeing a series cancelled at Netflix was so heartbreaking. Had they not made the game F2P, it wouldn't have lived as long as it has, but that can only go so far due to the criticisms about the monetization you mentioned. With that said, I still have so much fun in this game and I only wish the best for the remaining members of the OW team especially considering all the massive layoffs and awful controversies at Blizzard.
i took a break from season 12 and ive actually been really enjoying the game recently, it doesn’t feel as tedious whenever something happens anymore its just been super chill
i wish my role (DPS) got a player removed and I got giga buffed, now in SoloQ tanks literally just press W on me and im dead. 5v5 is fine for professional play but horrendous for soloq,
In OW I played duos with a friend of mine (we both main tank) so the release of 5v5 just had us stop playing alltogether, I really hope that 6v6 will stay and I can't wait to play with my friend again.
Ngl the 6v6 playtesting will probably bring very inaccurate results Due to the fact that some tanks were designed around 5v5 while others around 6v6, there is likely gonna be at least 1 game breaking issue that will ruin ANY chance of 6v6 coming back. Also, since tanks were mega buffed into raid bosses to increase survivability unless the dev team decreases all tanks survivability in the 6v6 playtesting then tanks are just gonna be super unfun for dps and support to play against, and ngl I don't trust the dev team in making a change like that which should otherwise be very obvious and needed change for this playtesting.
Not even a "conspiracy", but I think 6v6 is doomed to fail because the devs will not put enough effort to balance things (in other words, revert the game to mid 2022, remove all the new heroes and maps from 6v6, rework them in the backstage, add them later little by little), too much hassle for a dev team who is slowly walking to the gallows anyway (and Marvel Rivals will not help their morale). Dare to bet Overwatch will enter on a pseudo maintenance mode, just like Halo Infinite, in mid 2025~early 2026 tops. Again, if even Halo is not too big to fail, Overwatch is no different, no one is safe in this crazy entertainment market that bombard us with "content" from all sides
In the last weeks I've been playing Overwatch 2 (last time was something like november 2023) and, to be honest, I'm having a lot of fun. I have only played unranked matches for now, but this game is a lot more balanced than it was in release and a lot more funny.
Someone being positive and actually providing evidence instead of just complaining about recolors over and over is such a breath of fresh air. Very cool review ^^
7:20 I dont know what you smoked, but the Season 9 Health changes are the worst the game has ever seen Many Heroes like Genji, Hanzo, Mei, Junk, etc. lost their Identity and cant fullfill their role while Hitscans dominated. Not to mention the Hitbox changes just making the game less skillful which makes it less rewarding to hit good shots. I think youre way to biased here in seeing OW suceed, trust me i know ive been playing for 8 Years aswell, but aside from 5v5, this was one of the worst changes ever.
Imagine an Overwatch series like Arcane where they go deep into character backstories for characters with less screentime like Lucio, Sym, Moira, even Baptiste
i pretty much agree with yeatle. the game is fun and IMO it's been fun basically the whole time. the only time i really stop playing OW is when i have a backlog of singleplayer games that suck up all my time instead. the worst period of OW for me was the year before they added role lock where every match was a standoff on who would be forced to play tank or support so the rest of the team can have fun. i never cared about pve or about cosmetics at all, so it's been pretty much smooth sailing. i do genuinely miss playing off tank zarya and off tank dva, but support got more fun so i play that instead. i think most of the people clamoring about 6v6 need to learn the idiom "you can't go home again". 6v6 isn't a panacea, it solves some problems and creates others, but no matter what, you will never get back the 'magic' you believe was lost when the game went to 5v5. it's impossible. you are not the same person and it is not the same game.
I just came back to OW2 after playing it on launch and it feels a lot better. I'm pleasantly surprised by all the improvements they made and for the first time in a long while, I feel somewhat hopeful for OW.
9:50 this whole argument that 6v6 was only better for tank players is crazy. Just because as a DPS or support I don't have maximum impact doesn't mean the game wasn't better. If I had maximum impact I could one shot everybody but that wouldn't be fun. OverWatch 1 had a dance that was unique like the tango or the salsa, It had rhythm. OverWatch 2 destroyed that dance.
Well I didnt say anything about maximum impact, I just said they had less impact and they did because there was more mitigation in the game. If you as a dps like shooting tanks, shields and matrices more then 6v6 is for you. If you as a support like to spend most of the game comfortably healing tanks then 6v6 is for you. I'm not here to tell you want flavor of icecream to like i'm just giving words of caution because I believe that a lot (not all) of the older dps and support players are frustrated at the game for other reasons and they think 6v6 is the magic pill to their problems.
OW1 = chess OW2 = checkers OW1 has significantly more depth. More strategy. That's why I loved it. I put up with OW2 because of the addiction but my playtime has dropped significantly. Full flex player here btw who played Support most, dps 2nd most, tank 3rd most. Rein being my 4th most played hero, I was pretty much a Rein one trick in OW1. I don't touch tank in OW2 at all.
@@yeatledon't you think having the 2nd tank being able to peel and protect the backline dives like Juno + genji or pharah mercy + others, would make the game easier on the roles that have been screaming for a while about how unfun it is. {In 5v5} healers had to have their abilities go from helping them in fight to being close to the downfall of team fights. Tanks having damage reduction while also having a high dps output which makes it frustrating for everyone since you can't pressure a tank unless your a tank or you group up (also you can include how tanks abilities had to become more drastic and we've seen the reworks done to them). Dps feels like a hide and seek from tanks and also the constant switching for counter play is boring [Also a point to be noted for tanks in 5v5]. For DPS you also have to deal with how healers abilities have been a bit ridiculous giving immortality or immunity to damage, or immunity to death should be a sign. Now DPS isn't innocent either with the constant damage buffing, reworking of ults and doing a bit more damage than they should. However I think that 5v5 with it's introduction just primarily had to buff the tanks into raid bosses as people put it and buffing the healers abilities and DPS for a lot of cases because they don't have a meaningful impact because of the diving issue and not having a second tank. Now in saying that I don't want to pin this on the supports not having a body guard is their main reason for having to be turbo charged but it's a factor. Counter swapping to give you an edge in fights (Depending on the context) is fine but being shutdown because someone swapped is frustrating. Also because of said issue which 5v5 introduced notice how your games have for the most part, have the same heroes on repeat in your games due to counter swapping and how it can shut characters down. Have I played OW1 ? Yes. How long ? Like 3 seasons which double shield was my last. Did I quit because of double shield? No, just had other things to play /do. Did I see more hero variety back then? definitely. Now I've put in over 300 hours (close to 400 ATP) in ow2 and it seems more often than not I have to keep track of the changes they do in patches just so I can try to mitigate whatever bs comes my way in games. This is something I did not have to do in OW1 for the most part unless it was a major change. My only hope with this game now (as I'm thinking of just not really engaging with the game anymore) is that the 6v6 play test is done fairly. By this I mean characters are reworked and balanced to fit it. Now can they do it perfectly first time ? No but they should be giving it a fair effort and release fixes quickly because if as they said they'll be gathering data on this then they should try to get the most out of the 6v6 test. Now do I think it'll magically fix the game? No, it'll most certainly introduce new or old problems but at least we will have both sides and can accurately compare 5v5 Vs 6v6 and then settle for one or the other (As having both and upkeeping both with patches, balances, reworks and competitive play is unrealistic) Rant over. TLDR: Game feels worse than in OW1 (don't give me the nostalgia argument), a fair 6v6 play test is my only hope for continuing with this game.
I would love to see them bring back old battle pass items in the shop (or just unlock them). I still kick myself all the time thinking about the game or two I could've played to get Kiriko's "I run with blades all the time" voice line in season 1 battle pass.
Maaaaan I’m new to OW (little over 24hrs as of rn) do you know how pissed I get every time I open the heroes menu to be reminded that black metal Junker Queen just doesn’t exist for me because I didn’t play back then. I main JQ and I think black metal is her best skin by far but I’ll literally never get to use it because I started playing last month. So I agree. Bring back old battlepass skins for fucks sake Blizzard ☠️
I play a lot of OW2 but do not pay anything for it. Even if I want to buy stuff for a hero I start to main or on my alt account, I can’t do it! I could spend so much money on this game. Big shop with all content at decent prices (say 4-5 euros for a OW1 skin).
As someone who recently quit the game. In terms of content and updates it’s in an amazing place especially compared to the end of ow1 life cycle. But when it comes to the gameplay it only feels like it’s been getting worse and worse. I can’t put my finger on it but whatever it is it got so bad it flicked a switch in me to quit after 7 years of playing
I might be misremembering but I'm pretty sure they said the 6v6 playtest won't be until season 15 or 16. there's a lot of stuff they need to change to get 6v6 going, namely optimization on the new engine (adding 2 extra heroes' bullshit is hard for the wee little switch)
i recommend trying the soft role lock thing they're gonna try next season (?). dk for sure if they're doing it next season but it seems like it'd be fun for some games to be 2-1-2 or 2-2-1
After 2 years they changed and added a lot of things. And probably this is the best moment for ow2. I never played tank until this season, but now I'm trying it and I don't feel frustrated when playing it
Honestly, the recent Halloween event... feels appalling... They put a progression system in the PVP mode, and what's the reason why we can have that in a PvE again??
if you think about it, its a lot of work for just.. a 2 week halloween mode. Like sure a lot of the base mechanics were there from pve, but like the UI, the thought put into like not being able to swap, all the details in all the mutations. This might be a precursor to something bigger. pausechamp
@@notreyayou think it's a lot of work, because you compare it to the shitty and lazy updates they did over the years. In any other game that kind of mode is not out of the ordinary. It's not hard to make from a development standpoint. I think they are afraid to overdeliver. They DO NOT want to set up expectations. Remember the genji mythic skin? Yeah, they hate to do quality content. They want the playerbase to be content with the current game and to buy reskins.
All sounds great. I'm speaking for myself as someone who's played since OW1 beta, but, too little too late. Came here to see if I missed anything after qui5ting a few months ago. OW will have a place in my heart, but Blizzard really knows how to burn the bridge to their customer
Calling season 9 balance good is just biased and hilarous, you like it probably because you're mainly playing heroes benefit from those changes. At this point, most of the season 9 changes just failed. The 250 health change just messed up half of the heroes. Devs had to eventally lowered some heroes' health to 225 (which is not that much different from the old 200 health break poitns), and buffed some heroes' damage back. The projectile change also benefit a few heroes (mainly hitscans) way more than others, making some already niche projectile heroes even more niche. The dps passive is just a garbage design, high fire rate heroes heroes like tracer and soldier disproportionately benefit from it. It also made tanks even worse, causing the queue time issue again during season 9 and 10 (blizzard had to giga buff tanks and change armor just to fix that, which caused many other problems). It clear that the health/projectile changes were just poorly thought out and tested. The only well received season 9 change is probably the universal health regen. The balance of the game was in a much better state back in season 3 - 5.Even Season 6 - 8 was bad only because they added illar/mauga who had too much sustain and buffed a few problematic heroes like bastionand orisa. However, the game was easily fixable just by nerfing sustain and healing. Instead they went the seson 9 path and just left the game in the current state.
great video, came back at season 9. best state of overwatch pvp. The lore department cuts hurts though, especially knowing a netflix animated series was in the works
I concurr. I have hundreds of hours on doom. The fact that they literally deleted that character and gave us tankdoom who imo is far less fun to play is bullshit.
@@Gerolix he was easily countered. But regardless, I loved it and my experience was ruined. Other people’s experience means nothing to me when it comes to playing videos games. Play video games is purely a self centered/selfish hobby. So whatever, I blame the devs.

I never got bored with Overwatch 1. I started off in late 2020 as a 1400sr tank player who hadn’t picked up a video game in eight years. I put 2k hours into the game before Overwatch 2, and after Overwatch 2, I hit top 500 and get bored playing more than an hour or two at a time.
I will take this as a chance to review the devs instead of the game. The devs are amazing and I don't think they hear that nearly enough. Thank you for all your hard work to make this game better, for listening to the community, and for working hard to regain player trust so that the community can begin to heal from the past.
I love the game even with it's flaws. As a tank player I just accept the fact tank is worse in 5v5 playing other roles has allowed me have a lot more fun even if I'm only master on DPS
Your point that if Overwatch made a tv show for the game would boost player count is totally correct. Not only would it be cool to see, and the least they could do after pve’s downfall, but that would revive the game if done correctly. Edgerunners made me buy the game and DLC for cyberpunk, and I don’t like DLC’s because usually they’re planned!
When every year has been total dogshit being slightly away from the shit is technically the best it's ever been. I never said it can't be better just that we should acknowledge its getting better for the first time ever.
@@yeatle i think its correct to say that the process of balancing has been a lot better, reponses to meta shifts from the current dev team has been very solid, but that is different from saying the balance itself was better, there where years in ow 1 where even though the metas might have gotten a bit stale i believe that looking at any individual point in time and comparing to this year the balance was just better before, which is why i would disagree that this year would be a contender for best balance, maybe best balancing would be better wording
Saying the games at one of its most balanced state is a fucking horrible. The game hasn’t been balanced well since 2017. Season 9 was a good short term balance update but as it’s gone on the health pool reworks have lead to some characters being completely left in the dust. The only good long term thing we’ve gotten from season 9 is the universal regen. Funnily enough the Hitscan characters benefitted the most from season 9 due to the health pools. Tank is still at its worst state it’s ever been and DPS is miserable if you happen to like a low tier hero. Unless your a support main Overwatch 2 isn’t built for you.
@@Cooltorito I never got that.. I dont need constant change and new heroes to enjoy comp. New maps, modes, skins, shorts etc.. It´s plenty enough.. Don´t need a new hero every other month making balancing harder. It´s more special if it´s like 2 every year... And build some hype up around it.. Leaving clues.. etc... Sadly the only thing I see about those sort of things tho is when people made vids about them afterwards. This chase after new stuff often end up in removing something that was good and replacing with something worse.
Personally I just want the game to be balanced for fun. Blizzard seems to be actively doing the opposite, the way they keep buffing anti-fun heroes like hog or moira.
as much as i want to say that the balance is stinky because of bad balance patches and questionable direction for the identity and state of some heroes, i look to arcade and realise i have more fun with the unbalanced goofy changes, altered environment and chaos, compared to even the likes of role queue quickplay. in FACT i even find open queue ranked more fun than qp, which suggests to me that the problem isnt balance but dilution of gameplay. an example of this is how many times ive been bored to death with shooting the enemy tank and baby sitting my team instead of focusing more on making plays and making use of my cooldowns! in arcade game modes, every character is stronger in a way that isnt just - MORE DAMAGE - or MORE HEALTH - which provides surprisingly fun options for engagement for even the weakest of heroes. Community crafted is 14X closer to my ideal ow2 and it has fricking lucio with his 2000 overhealth beat lmao
Naah, it's not impossible, Street Fighter 3 is literally perfectly balanced. And the most impressive example of them all: KOF 2002, this game has 60+ characters (including final bosses and whatnot) and they are ALL balanced, humongous feat on a design standpoint, every trio is viable, combinations that can be properly countered, etc.. And yes, these games are comparable even if they are fighting games, the core of both SF, KOF and Overwatch is the "competitive" gameplay and KOF has hundreds of combinations between tags, team composition and whatnot. If SNK on it's dying bed was able to perfect the formula, Blizzard and other devs have no excuse, Overwatch is a thing for 8 freaking years, if the devs are walking in circles all this time, nowhere near to perfect the formula, it means they never had real talent to begin with, awful direction ruined this golden goose
9:45 "DPS PLAYERS HAD LESS IMPACT BACK THEN" Did you forget how ow1 truly was? When you are on tracer and they have ana zen for example you can easily kill both because you can oneclap both so with perfect aim you get both ez but now zen can kick hard and both have more health so onetaping is harder and they can defend themselves more higher hp and the kick in this example support had less impact yes but not dps the dps were the deciding factor if you win or lose you can always get like 4 kills as a dps as a support hell nah
What an eloquent breakdown of this year, I'd say the only other thing worth mentioning is that they added mythic weapons with weapon inspects that have been kinda controversial
6v6 is probably going to be massive shitshow. The game is not even close to what it was back then. It's not like they are reverting the heroes to that state, so it's going to be completely different. It does not matter what changes, people will never be happy. But rebalance for 6v6 sounds like a stupid amount of work that's never going to be balanced anyway. What they should do is do their matchmaking better, try to make certain heroes fun to play again. And honestly, some people just need to learn to loose now and then!
After watching Spilo talk about 6v6 I don't think this game is salvageable outside of cosmetics which Blizzard is heavily leaning on. Playing tank is the litmus test on the mental capacity of how much pain one can take.
Finally someone who doesnt shit talk the game just because its trendy to do so and actually lists strenghts and weaknesses of the game. I play from beta and i can say that OW is in one of its best states its ever been. The dev team are miles better than jeff kaplan was at the time.

Right now, I hard roll teams with no counter-picking (which shouldn't be so easy) but once they pull out 3-4 counters, Ball is like torture (which shouldn't be the case). I have a solution to that:
Force activity to maintain top 500 (or 100 in this case)
You can't camp many slots if you HAVE to play often to maintain a slots, because playing also means going up and down
@@violet9214 I agree, but they tried that years ago in og ow, and people cried and used the excuse of "I don't have time to play all the time".

Riot spent $10 million per episode on production alone for Arcane. They probably spent another $30-40 million on marketing.
Which is very sad, but also very reasonable imo
And after 3 months, alongside visibile scoreboards i think the main reason for this toxicity is that blizzard punishes you a lot more for leaving QP games.
I never understood why people pushed for this so hard when it's just made things infinitely worse in the long run.
qp always been toxic
It's kind of funny when the people who played competitively in 2018 don't know how the game works anymore in 2024.
Lmao real i cant take how there are people flaming each other in QUICKPLAY
the second most basic training combat mode
This is why I just mute all chats.
I think the biggest problem with clash isnt how fast it can end its the fact that it punishes you for doing good
Yeah that never made sense
The point closest to spawn is uncappable if the enemies aren't griefing and a guaranteed win for the losing team + they get to take positions on the next point because they lived the fight/whoever died is way closer. So you can lose one equal fight one almost equal and win a completely one sided and the score is only 1-2 out of 5 and now you have the advantage again. Ridiculous thinking by blizzard

@@averageagarthianman I was there when we had the double shield tank meta and it was horrible.

i mean for a game that is still active for the past 8 years, it is a very big feat already. some dont even last for 2 or 3 weeks . nothing lasts forever. OW is already a very succesful game in its own right.
The fact you're treating it like an 8 year old game literally shows the problem there is. OW2 is NOT 8 years old.
@@OhItsNoctu ow 1 and 2 are more or less the same. nothing much has changed. so yea, to me it is an 8 year old game.

0:45 Aaahahaha _the only new PVE content we have to show is Illari's pilon_ 🤣
I'm so bad on tank now that I apologize after each match when doing my tank placements.
not the way its currently balanced lol
I’m just scared that the shield meta comes back. Literally made me quit the game back then
Hey buddy, you know the role coming back from 6v6 will be MAIN tank and not off tank right? A shield tank will now be mandatory just like it was in OW1. And now tank players will be pressured to play shield tanks more than ever before in OW2.
@@georgealvarez1195
@@georgealvarez1195you can definitely get away with playing just off tanks in 6v6 and you won't be forced to swap due to counterswaps as they were not as bad in 6v6 to deal with

This is an awesome video. Also nice to hear someone be positive for a change in these videos.
So yeah that's my bullshit rant
Cool vid bro
The people who shit on the game are the people who came from a superior version of the game you play. The game is bad when compared to OW1. It is BAD, because the only time I'll have fun on tank is in openqueue, the flaws stick out like a saw thumb when you have experience with the game. The worst of OW1 is better than what we have now

i'm so sick of youtubers just making another hate video and mentioning the sexual assault allegations for the nth time and reducing the game to where the company the is MANAGING it could end up in the future.
overwatch was a better game even in brig's heyday than most of other shooters out there.
You do know that the old dev team isn't there anymore? It's a brand new team that are only a few years old. Give them time to cook
I agree overwatch changed because greedy but not as much as valorant and then they fixed it. Overwatch is the true villain here

It's a breath of fresh air to hear someone who isn't shitting on the game and whining about nostalgia for ow1, the gameplay of overwatch I think is objectively the best it's ever been, but the controversies with pve and blizzard in general have really put people off this game. If. Ow2 was the original game it would still win game of the year
I don't watch many TV shows but I would watch an Overwatch TV show. Those cinematics are fire.
I still can’t get over how badly ball was shafted in ow2. It’s so sad. I hate playing ball in 5v5.
Bro has speed and a massive health pool it's just so FUN
fun to play as until your teammates keep telling you to switch.
@@ilove3dsomuch He really is very fun... Until the enemy team goes roadhog junkrat sombra ana every single game even in open queue quick play.

Have you thought about asking yourself where the Ana is before you shatter?
@ far away. I’ll give gold Ana’s one thing, they can hit dart.
8:40 They felt as if the game was too “teamy”? Isn’t that the whole point of the “Team-based shooter” that they made? It really just shows you how out of touch they are with what made the game so great
And then they said there was less room for individual impact in 6v6 when ironically, you had way more impact in that format than you do now in 5v5 because you can actually kill tanks or supports in 6v6 because of their lower stats and weaker cooldowns.
7:08 They took so long to fix goats and double shield because they abandoned the game to work on Overwatch 2.
i took a break from season 12 and ive actually been really enjoying the game recently, it doesn’t feel as tedious whenever something happens anymore its just been super chill
i wish my role (DPS) got a player removed and I got giga buffed, now in SoloQ tanks literally just press W on me and im dead. 5v5 is fine for professional play but horrendous for soloq,
In OW I played duos with a friend of mine (we both main tank) so the release of 5v5 just had us stop playing alltogether, I really hope that 6v6 will stay and I can't wait to play with my friend again.
Ngl the 6v6 playtesting will probably bring very inaccurate results
Due to the fact that some tanks were designed around 5v5 while others around 6v6, there is likely gonna be at least 1 game breaking issue that will ruin ANY chance of 6v6 coming back.

7:20 I dont know what you smoked, but the Season 9 Health changes are the worst the game has ever seen
Many Heroes like Genji, Hanzo, Mei, Junk, etc. lost their Identity and cant fullfill their role while Hitscans dominated. Not to mention the Hitbox changes just making the game less skillful which makes it less rewarding to hit good shots.
I think youre way to biased here in seeing OW suceed, trust me i know ive been playing for 8 Years aswell, but aside from 5v5, this was one of the worst changes ever.
Agreed, as a genji main, playing him in ranked is just extremely painful as the game punishes skillfull movement
I'm pleasantly surprised by all the improvements they made and for the first time in a long while, I feel somewhat hopeful for OW.
non-doomposting about ow2, todays a good day
telling the truth is not “doomposting”
As a F2p player who started playing with overwatch 2, the heros not locked behind battle pass brought me back to the game.
@@yeatleits not a magic pill though, its more a change of pace

OW1 has significantly more depth.
@@Deusaga Yep the game lost a significant amount of its depth. There were so many more options in OverWatch 1
No, it'll most certainly introduce new or old problems but at least we will have both sides and can accurately compare 5v5 Vs 6v6 and then settle for one or the other (As having both and upkeeping both with patches, balances, reworks and competitive play is unrealistic)
Rant over.
TLDR: Game feels worse than in OW1 (don't give me the nostalgia argument), a fair 6v6 play test is my only hope for continuing with this game.
my biggest gripe is the inconsistency in map details. specifically, the tops of skinny walls cant be walked on any new map
I would love to see them bring back old battle pass items in the shop (or just unlock them). I still kick myself all the time thinking about the game or two I could've played to get Kiriko's "I run with blades all the time" voice line in season 1 battle pass.

Nice a positive video. I'll wait for 6v6 to hop back on. Hopefully next season.
I might be misremembering but I'm pretty sure they said the 6v6 playtest won't be until season 15 or 16. there's a lot of stuff they need to change to get 6v6 going, namely optimization on the new engine (adding 2 extra heroes' bullshit is hard for the wee little switch)

@@yeatle i think its correct to say that the process of balancing has been a lot better, reponses to meta shifts from the current dev team has been very solid, but that is different from saying the balance itself was better, there where years in ow 1 where even though the metas might have gotten a bit stale i believe that looking at any individual point in time and comparing to this year the balance was just better before, which is why i would disagree that this year would be a contender for best balance, maybe best balancing would be better wording
excellent video, I agree with most of your points and although I also think that they can do better, its clearly improving.

Flats really spent 45 minutes repeating exactly what you said
9:45 "DPS PLAYERS HAD LESS IMPACT BACK THEN" Did you forget how ow1 truly was? When you are on tracer and they have ana zen for example you can easily kill both because you can oneclap both so with perfect aim you get both ez but now zen can kick hard and both have more health so onetaping is harder and they can defend themselves more higher hp and the kick in this example support had less impact yes but not dps the dps were the deciding factor if you win or lose you can always get like 4 kills as a dps as a support hell nah
What an eloquent breakdown of this year, I'd say the only other thing worth mentioning is that they added mythic weapons with weapon inspects that have been kinda controversial
im still alive
At the end of matches, the period needs to be extended with end cards or something similar. Sometimes you just want to chat after the game.
I feel like your magic pill take to 6v6 just ain’t it, it’s more of a change of pace that people look forward to.
dive was peak and ill never change my mind about that
6v6 is probably going to be massive shitshow.
Sick background music choices, fam.
After watching Spilo talk about 6v6 I don't think this game is salvageable outside of cosmetics which Blizzard is heavily leaning on. Playing tank is the litmus test on the mental capacity of how much pain one can take.
i just realized its yeatle video after checking comments
Finally someone who doesnt shit talk the game just because its trendy to do so and actually lists strenghts and weaknesses of the game.
I play from beta and i can say that OW is in one of its best states its ever been.
The dev team are miles better than jeff kaplan was at the time.
Sure buddy and I'm sir Albert Einstein lol this games balance is a joke 🤣 it's why 6v6 will be the only meanful thing to come to the game I'm getting into val right now and it's way more fun then overshit 2 oh my bad overshit .2
@@larryevans3369 Valorant?? Fun?? nah bro, im an immo player and you are not saying VALORANT is more fun then OVERWATCH
@@larryevans3369 Valorant and Overwatch aren't comparable other than the UwU girls in it. Valorants rival is CS, not Overwatch.
lmao stfu the game is so bad. you only play it cause there is no other option. do not lie to yourself
@@larryevans3369 do you seriously think OW1 was better than OW2?
the same game that gave us launch brig launch sigma double shield double sniper ironclad bastion GOATS ETC i could go on all day lmao (they literally took AGES to fix these too)
OW1 is significantly more balanced than OW2
also funny to see you drones mindlessly repeat 6v6 lmao good luck didnt work before won't work now
