I LOVE these Mustangs. My Dad used to race a Cortina, and I watched this series growing up. The variety of cars is amazing... Minis, Cortinas, Mustangs, Falcons. Incredible. Have fun mate!
Awesome to see Abby out on track! She's a legend in her own time and how about some love for Alex Brundle putting Steve, Abby, Ben and others in these fantastic old cars! Well donea
2 major takeaways: 1. The production quality is really going through the roof, the inside angle including all the footwork and the raw sound is amazing! 2. Mini racing looks dope af.
If I was the guy or gal driving that Mini at 7:45, I’d request for that clip to be on repeat on my gravestone. What a brilliant shot. Edit - And 9:19!!
To have never driven the track or car and match the driver that's marked as the "Elite" driver, that's pretty damn impressive. Almost makes the 10 second penalty seem unfair 😆
@@liquidsnakex Not quite a flawless math there:). In fact on 32 laps race the penalty would equalize the position against full "amateur" team if the "elite" driver was about 6 tenths per lap faster on average, assuming he drives half of the race. Which isn't a crazy pace difference in cars like these.
Aww always LOVELY to see Abbie Eaton racing again, what a legend! Brands too thats a stunning circuit! But also great to see the car out and in action again!
That other turquoise car you were 'drag-racing' down the back straight (3:18 in the video) was a 1964 Mercury Comet - a Ford product, basically identical to the vintage Mustang underneath.
Brands hatch is also my "home" circuit. Highlights include BTCC in 1995, WSBK in 1999 (125,000 people on sunday!), WSBK in 2007 when James toseland won both races, and DTM in 2018! Lost count of how many BSB meetings I've attended.
Awesome that you got the chance to race there! And matching the pro-time without any experience (even though she had some issues) - thats kinda insane! XD
This is the best demonstration of why the mini was so good. No power, but on a congested track it can squeeze through, brake late, and make overtakes where larger cars couldn't. It just bullies it's way through.
I love how you're in the cockpit view most of the time and then 11:12 and 13:07 you see an outside view and it suddenly looks/feels so much faster than the cockpit view. Hats off to people doing the actual driving, it's impressive :D
The videos featuring the old Mustang really catch my attention every time. Looks like such a handful to drive! I must say your heel toeing looks soo much smoother now than the first time you drove this car. Awesome track, great driving by both of you, really enjoyed it! 😃👍👍
Man, the iconography of this car.. It's just timeless, it invokes a certain sound before you even hear it. Must have been so cool to start it and take off.
Excellent race, at my ex home circuit too. Pretty similar to Goodwood Festival of Speed regarding the mini's ability to trounce the bigger cars around the corners but catching them up on the straights. Nick Swift is a difficult man to beat so you did very well keeping up with him. That was very entertaining to watch and just as thrilling as Goodwood. I was privileged to see Jim Clark a few times at Brands in the works Lotus Cortina. He was absolutely brilliant and I saw him win against the massive Ford Galaxy and other muscle cars.
That feeling of standing helplessly watching live timing on the phone is so very familiar 😂. Great video, great to see you getting these opportunities 🤘🏼
Takes me back to the days when the Firenza's with Gerry Marshal were racing here alongside the minis and Mustangs etc. The Thunder-saloons were my favourites. Really good to see you kinda reliving those days Steve, and doing so well from the start. Great stuff!
I don't think the guy at 15:40 met with Barry R, but I wonder if he entered the shadow realm? Also, I kept pressing buttons looking for bonnet cam but no joy. Gutted you didn't make P6. Great vid.
Wow, what an insane offer to come and race there! Being an old Stang, there are so many steering inputs in-car!! It's so unstable but such fun it seems, to man (person) handle it around the track!!
It's super cool watching Abbie knock the brake pads off w/ her left foot going into corners...and also then swear a blue streak with her self-assessment, lol. Great job you two!
It's one thing watching you Sim Race, But watching you Race for Real, Something Else Man, Total Respect, Well Done to you and Abbie, You must definitely do more videos like this, Great Stuff
I'm sorry to say, that well i normally enjoy SGT narration to a video, i found myself saying 'shut up Steve, I want to hear that V8 roar!!' Great video and glad you had fun
You're right Steve, the camera doesn't do Paddock bend justice! Back in the 60s I drove a Lotus Elan around Brands and going into Paddock for the first time I thought I was driving at a Tarmacked wall! P.S. Nick Swift is not just a great driver but he's the dog's dangly bits when it comes to tuning the A series Mini engine!
Abbie is a class act in every way. She’s talented as can be too. What a tricky circuit IRL, right? It blew my mind to imagine what it was like after getting familiar with it in GT.
I LOVE these Mustangs. My Dad used to race a Cortina, and I watched this series growing up. The variety of cars is amazing... Minis, Cortinas, Mustangs, Falcons. Incredible. Have fun mate!
Come do a race for us!!!
Hello Abbie, viewers here.
Got to meet this legend at Brands that day, one of the most amazing days! You absolutely aced it, awesome meeting you! 🎉
Was it the brands hatch classics event or something different?
@@SquashyCheese62I think it was the masters historic festival
@@bluestar173 yeah sorry that’s what I thought thanks for the reply 🙏

Man, you should do the roof cam on these IRL races like in GT lol
One on a bumper would be also cool
Might be prohibited by regulations. Not the filming part but things attached externally.
Aerodynamics. That's why it's not advised
Officials wouldn’t allow it.

what an amazing video again. loved it.

That mini driver is a beast 🤝🏼
Driven by the very talented and fast duo of Tom bell and joe Ferguson
To have never driven the track or car and match the driver that's marked as the "Elite" driver, that's pretty damn impressive.
Almost makes the 10 second penalty seem unfair 😆
True, should only be applied if she does the lap at least 10 secs faster than him.
What do you mean by almost? Lol.

SuperMumGT with the fire off board paddock hill shots🔥
SuperMumGT makes an appearance at 12:10 if anyone was wondering
I grew up with the sounds of Brands Hatch filling the air on weekends - so I will live the dream of racing there vicariously thanks to this video.
This really felt like a career mode race in GT7. Thanks steve for paving the way for other sim racers into the motorsports world!

Such a nice looking mustang.

Your sim racing videos are great, but your live racing is something else. I hope you go all the way!
Great video! Watching those minis was absolutely hilarious how fast they are for such a small box!

Man you get to race with Abbie and get a front row seat to Swifty's driving? What a good day to race it sounds like! You guys did a great job!

Wow what an amazing video!! Love it! I wish you many more legendary race opportunities like this one.
Love this sort of racing, the massive difference in car capabilities is just more interesting to me than higher tiers like GT3 etc.
As a long time viewer I feel I can say it should have been an infamous p6
What a great experience, mate. Good for you!
i love to whats this content evolving to - i love the edit, the comment, the camera angle GOOD JOB
Bet those minis are fun to race 😄Good job on the result, loving the irl racing videos 👍

The minis are legends haha crazy to behold. Great video! Congrats you both!

Incredible how familiar it feels to watch you commentate your first race around Brands Hatch IRL. Sim racing really brings motorsport to the masses.
Great race !! Great result, congratulations to you and Abbie and the crew 🎉
Hearing that Ford V8 is music to my ears. Great opportunity to race an iconic car at a very iconic track. Great job!
Congratulations mate. Has been an honour watching your journey for so long. Onwards and upwards.
So good to see you meet other racers and expand your racing enthusiasm. You started with 0 subscribers and now you're here!

Super cool. That track is tricky and it's flippin' amazing that you got to actually race on the actual track, in a 1960s Mustang......
That was cool! good cam angle, easy to follow. lovely
