Hey bro, it's inevitable that when you react to Ren that you fall in love with him. He's a genius and he's solid independent and he's a very humble person. It's hard not to like him. His music is so all over the place you can't put him in a genre .

"Screech" is a character in one of his tracks, the character is the type to kill a pacifist.

Great reaction! Heads up, Ren posted that if he gets to 1 million subs on TH-cam in the next 30 days he will put out 4 new videos back to back, 1 a week for 4 weeks, so we really need to get him to that 1 million!!!
There is SO MUCH in this song. A few things that I've perceived: doubles all the way through about being an ill rapper, flexin', but also consistently weaving in sickness refs. The Eleven/Demogorgon bars ref Stranger Things, which is about evil/illness attacking our world. He's sweet like a spoonful of sugar, because Mary Poppins says it helps the medicine go down, because he's ill and needs medicine. Or is it because we need medicine-facts, and he's sweet-talented enough to make us take our medicine? Coughin/coffin, enuff said. Robin Hood, stealing from the nice hoods to make the poor ones healthier.
The 4-5-6 bit is about being perceived as ill by society because he crosses boundaries. Sacrilegious about crucifixion; making you suck on something; invoking the violence of Screech's tale. (Also call the "police on their local beat" to start "policing this beat he's laying down" because it's ill/outside the law.) An analyst of society/alchemist of words, perceived as cancerous because he's calling others to resist the system -- hierarchic breeding grounds, kill a king, take his crown. Talking about dethroning others in the rap game, or the real powers-that-be? Back to flexing, top of the kingdom he owns, spittin' confident fire about eat my words, fast like at Nascar -- until illness takes him down, "I don't feel so well." Sparser beats but still killer bars (rhyming "King Kong/Swanton bomb" with "Hong Kong/Wonton soup" two lines later!) -- trying to climb back up towards the heights he's been banished from. He finally brought us up to the roof of his inner world, into the corners of his mind, so we can now understand where he's at right this moment, knocking on the edges of success, but still looking for his answers to all the illnesses that brought him low, inside himself and outside in society.

"So far from reach, I'm the type to kill a pacifist" is a brilliant bar, but unfortunately almost always people don't get its intended meaning. Ren basically says that he can convert a pacifist to an anti-system revolutionary type through his music and lyrics, hence "killing" the pacifist inside you.
For me since he references Screech, Screech was so far from help and he killed a pacifist, Jenny.

Overwhelmed by the amount of support for illest Of Our Time. Have been loving watching all the reaction videos and hearing everyone's interpretation. I never usually break down my own words because I love letting people apply their own meaning, but there was one line I wanted to explain: the title of the song. A lot of people took this to mean "The greatest Of Our Time”.
"Look for all the answers that I never seem to find,
Till then I guess I'm still the illest of our time"
It's my reluctance to be the illest - the clue is in the word 'guess' - I've spent the better part of a decade looking for solutions to the damage lyme disease dealt with countless doctors visits, and I'm still in that boat. "Illest" can also mean "dopest" "best" etc. So it's a bit of a double entendre. Same as "Sick boi"
This theme is repeated with the line "elementary dear Watson you might find" because Sherlock Holmes was always searching for the clues to piece the puzzle together, which is very relatable when trying to piece together parts of a very complex health picture, anyone with a very complex illness will relate to almost having to become your own detective.
And finally
"A pathologic entity -
if everything is set in stone then this is how it's meant to be"
Acceptance that this might just be the cards I've been dealt.
To search for answers and simultaneously accept that chronic illnest may be your fate is a bit of a paradox because it is the rejection of acceptance that spurs you forward in the pursuit of answers, but it is the acceptance that you may always be sick that let's you lead a more peaceful life... so one must walk this contradictory line between both opposing states to have the motivation to find the answers whilst not being so outcome dependent. Still haven't mastered this, but think it's an interesting concept.

Whats cool is Ren has a little of everything for everyone in his music. Where some are drawn to the rap heavy word play in his music that gets you hyped, others really gravitate towards his more emotional or musical pieces. Its so cool as well because it brings together people of all walks of life and musical tastes to just enjoy some badass music. Personally my favorite performance is when he was in the band “The Big Push” and covered three songs at once in one live performance while just doing some street performing. They did “i Shot the Sheriff” by Bob Marley, “Road to Zion” By Damien Marley and “Hip Hop” by DedPrez and the video is amazing

Also, Bastet...the cat lady toasts a Stella to Ren when he says he is a rapstar. Stella means "star" in Latin. Also, Bastet was on killing spree when she was tricked into drinking red beer thinking it was blood and became too ill to continue with humanity's destruction. So besides it being ironic that Ren has her toasting with a beer, I guess Ren also became too ill to do too much damage himself...but he is feeling better now so is back and dangerous.
