I was wondering whether it was Sam or Luke. Shoutout to Luke for the great pacing and framing throughout (especially the pigman's eyes in the rear-view) and also for the near seamless cuts 🔥
I believe another of Ren's photographer friends, @flackerzfotos was the 'victim'. He's got a great eye too. Sam, Luke, Joe, and Josh seem to have the Reniverse visuals absolutely nailed. My favourite detail is the pig being in focus in the mirror, then the camera lowering to focus on Ren about to do the grab. And because of you I noticed the thirds!
😊 thanks for the love! Wicked watching your deconstruction. Ha every time you said 'handing off' I was like "I wish" 😆 It was only me on camera the whole time - kinda wish I showed the empty back seats though 🤦♂️ Fun fact, because I was such a stubborn bastad about getting those 'float through the window' shots, we had to do a second day of takes before we finally nailed it. Shout out as well to our champ running alongside us (including alongside the car) with the speaker playing the tune for timing the lip sync 🤣🏃♂️
Epic job man, bet it was annoying when that jag showed up 😂 Any secrets you can let on for the initial window sequence? It was flawless however you did it.
Amazes me how the camera man backs through that small window at the start and then backs down all of those stairs too - and Ren doesn't appear to be slowing his walk to accomodate it, the pace was natural. I love how much recognition the videographers are getting with Ren's rise.
I think there is a hidden cut at all windows and leaving the apartment building. At the flat, for a moment there is an easy vertical line at the window going from outside to inside to switch over to new footage. Leaving the apartment building, same thing. Camera pans away from Ren, crossing numerous vertical lines, then going outside. Going into the car first, I noticed a warping sense, like a focal length or camera type change, but the real giveaway was the sun lines on the buildings. outside the car, earlier in the day. Inside the car, the shadows moved way up the building. Time had passed. Then leaving the car, another warping, but the dead giveaway was the white car parked on the street.... Wasn't there when the camera was inside the car. So... I figure 4 hidden cuts. Makes me want to go back and watch Animal Flow with the same videographer and look for some hidden cuts there.
@@dirtwednesday Totally agree, 4 cuts. For the second one when Ren leaves the building look at his sleeves. Before he exits they are rolled up with a white cuff visible, when he is outside they are red all the way down. I don't know how many times I watched the video before I noticed that, but it was a lot! I love the song and video and will watch many more times no doubt... Yes Animal Flow has definite cuts also. The bathroom scene is the best example, camera does the weird pan and go out of focus on the wall thing, both in and out. Plus those girls wouldn't have sat in a bath of slime for the entirety a 10 hour shoot. The clue to me is if an artist is doing a one take and goes off-screen, there is a good opportunity for a hidden cut....
@@maf2001 Ah, good spot on the cuffs, didn't clock that. I noticed his hair was ruffled a little different and the fact the sun was shining into the windows which wasn't on him when he was walking down. As @dirtwednesday says there's plenty of clues for the car window cuts, but I still can't pick the frame if there's a cut on the bedroom window transition. As you say, if no-one's in frame then it's a big indicator, but I wonder if it was just so Vik could pull Ren's gloves off.
Being a videographer you may be interested in looking at the shooting location. The rooftop gym and bedroom are at 18 Stone Street in Brighton. When he gets in the car they travel a short distance east to a t-intersection which is Castle Street. They turn right and Castle Street curves to the right and back down in a westward direction (one-way). They stop the car at approximately 26 Castle Street to pick up their "passenger". You can see it all on Google Maps and Street view. In fact Castle Street was recently updated on Street View a month ago. The damn dumpster the guy was standing next to is clearly in view.
It's nice that you and BP spaced out your reaction premiers so we can be part of each one. Awesome reaction, as always. Appreciate your insights into the filming.
The bit that makes the boxing intro to window transition also interesting is that when he's sparring on the roof with the punchbag, it's all rough, wobbly and twitchy. There are slight camera twitches in time to when Ren hits the bag - almost as if he's giving off a shockwave. Then with the transition to interior and it changes to colour, it switches into steadycam mode, almost as if it's setting up the "perfect hit" with the focus and balance also being perfect? I think with the sideways slide into the car that the rear door was open with the window wound all the way down, when the car pulled up. Luke must have clipped the shot framing so that you can't see it? That would allow him to pass off the camera in his right hand to his left as he slid in through the door, with his right hand free he could close the door and then drive off?
It would be dope if you could get an interview with Sam and/or Luke and just watch y'all geek out on videography for an hour or two. Maybe try to get interviews with others too and make it a series. If you're into that kind of thing.
Can't wait to see what Sparks get fired by Ren's inspiration! If you feel like sharing, it might be fun for us to see some of your practice runs/outtakes as you figure out how to do this sort of filming in your own style! It'd be neat if you could explain to us why you try things this way or that way, what's easy or hard -- help us appreciate your work and that of Ren's camera posse. :)
I think it's a DSL on a small gimble. I think the different cuts are outside, then to inside, to outside, and when they back out of the car. Possibly more, but I picked up on those. Then they've been masked really well. It's such a great video!
WOW! LUKE COMMENTED ON YOUR VIDEO! That's awesome! I tried to look up what J20-HAX was. I did find something that makes a lot of sense! The J20 (someone else pointed this part out) is today July 20th. For 'HAX', is a gaming term meaning that someone has an unfair advantage over you OR someone breaking the rules, like using programs to alter the skills of a player in a video game.
In the Twitch stream after this dropped someone asked Ren about the license plate. Ren said it's random. Just the plate that the car had. LOVED your reaction! Thanks for sharing it.
Hey! Happy to see I'm not the only person from NH that loves Ren! I'm up in Littleton but used to live in Concord, Bow, Nashua, Penacook and Webster. We need to get more people from here to open their minds! I was listening to Tom Macdonald, Jelly Roll, Adam Calhoun, Falling In Reverse, etc a year or more before anyone I know was and even when I tried to get people to listen to that stuff with me, most of them wouldn't unless it was something that was popular. Which is strange cuz I'm in my early 40's and all my friends used to only listen to music that was underground and that was against the mainstream but now they all got old on me and can't listen to anything that goes against the grain! ❤❤❤ 18 more songs coming between August and September. Let's go!
Joe E, I soooooo love your perspective on these reactions bro, your not just a reactor your an educator, after watching some of your reactions I can’t help but see things in other videos that I never would have noticed. Keep going man, I feel you becoming an such a valuable part of the reaction community. Take care man Daz
He said on the twitch chat that the car number playe didn’t mean anything. It was a friend's car. But it wouldn't surprise me if he chose today to release the track to give it meaning lol!
I'm all for this one! I knew he was good - but good damn! 🔥❤ Visually - an absolutely fantastic one take. At least I can't see a cut anywhere!?! It must have required the wildest planning. Backwards through a window (at the start of the video) and later in and out of the car? Without bumps and notches. My God! Luke is amazing! I look forward to hearing what you have to say Joe!
My guess is they are passing the camera around. Multiple people working together. They did something similar in the chase scene from the movie Extraction with Hemsworth. Smooth transition from outside to inside the vehicle. Amazing! By the way, love seeing it from your perspective and watching say things like "I want to do this stuff"
Barrington Levy murderer from 80's would love this Ren music is brilliant his knowledge of all music just amazing am 59 and Ren is like fresh air and so much talent . music as been like ground hog day since 96 IMO there been good tunes around, but this guy is special so humble keep up your good work been a sub from BP and every time I watch your channel gets bigger and better 10 k than 100 k coming soon peace
I really felt the transitions in and out of the car we're done by handing the camera off. So of course I came straight to you to see what you thought. Love your reaction thank you so much.
Love your energy and observations! It’s a rare combination of musical genius, mixing, performance art, and cutting edge video techniques. Luke is the video artist on this one… it’s a truly epic music video, the combined talent on Ren’s low budget videos is insane!
Great vid again Joe. Im pretty sure thats the same roof when he does the globe shot from "losing it". And the white staircase he sits and raps on in that too is the one he walks down in this vid.
Great reaction! I loved how the camera goes backwards thru the window. Saw that immediately. J20 is a Chinese stealth fighter but that could be unrelated.
Edit: Luke clarified the shots and it makes sense there was a cut there. I was thrown off by Ren saying on Twitch that they passed the camera through the window. ___ I love the way they use the blank walls and windows etc to almost create a transition, in the way cuts would normally be hidden, even though it's a one shot. It helps it feel like it has multiple scenes even though it's just the one.
Love your take on the videos, I don't think there is anyone else giving the same kind of insight into the filming of these. Kudos man. Sorry, accidentally brushed the like button on the way out.
The more I watch this video, the more I appreciate how brilliant it's shot. Thanks for all your insights and perspectives 🙏🙌 Congrats on getting to 10K so quick!

Oh Joe , this ish is so exciting. I couldn't wait to see your reaction to it . Unfortunately i had to . Here now thanks for the fun ! Informative reaction! Because you are a videographer i have a recommendation for a different artist. Ren initially recommended this artist to all his fans . I am only going to say say he is a feast for the eyes ears and soul . Watch one please . His name is Dirt Miller .
Love this the chorus stays with you. The cliffhanger ending .perfect. Been told in comments this leads to Animal flow the man tied up in the first scene.
Love this song, video everything about it. Everything Ren is amazing. I’m imagining this is a parallel universe where Screech survives Richard and makes it to adulthood. To me it has that ruthless feel. But scarily calmer.
I really wouldn’t put it past Rens creativity , that some time down the line he way say watch these videos in a certain order and it will be a long story as you just described . Really hope he does an in-depth Netflix series about Jenny and Screech
The videography is amazing. I am just a humble observer but I think when Luke films they tend to be more "music video" vibe and a lot more movement from one location to another. While Sam may be more "theatrical video" and at one location. Which does not mean they both cant do the other. Much respect to both of them! Of course I haven't really investigated all videos of each for Ren, but from what I have seen and known- thats what I got. Just my observation shared to the webs. Could be completely wrong.
always a pleasure joe, i love your different input form the other reactors, coming from a directing standpoint when everyone else is coming from a musical one, its great
Love your reactions! Great song & masterful video. I'm a simpleton in this area, but during my first watch I really enjoyed how the focus in the car on the Pigman's eyes in the mirror shifted to the crime on the streets wo/ seeing the camera in the mirror. The mask's eyes are so sinister with the angle & the red. Very cool.
Loved your cameraman eye for it - would love to see your face when you read cameraman Luke's comment that there was no handing off - just practiced to Perfection. Ren sure seems to magnetically surround himself with the best of the best be it other music artists or cameramen etc who all just showcase each other's talents perfectly. Great to hear you so inspired - that's the Ren effect! I absolutely Love this track -I can already visualise hearing it blaring out open car windows . And Ren's acting personas - his expressions, the way he looks at people etc have me mesmerised- his Netflix series is going to be Epic 🍿
Why is there a line through your comment?I read it and you aren't saying anything bad plus you can read it easily I've seen it before on other comments??!
Great breakdown Joe. You've gotta try to do an interview with Luke and Samuel about the filming of some of Ren's one shots. I know I'd be interested in the equipment/choreography etc.. esp the car window scene in this video.
I first came across you watching Black Pegasus and liked your perspective being a videographer, so since then I have been watching your reaction videos to Ren I really appreciate your insight and give a reaction to how things where pulled off . I myself spent my career in Film but as a old school live action special effects technician I have done quite a few promos so I can appreciate your input . Keep up the good work and I will keep on watching your reaction videos.
Thank u SingleSpeed🙏🏽 Once I'm locked in on a specific artist I think I'll always focus my best on getting it out early👊🏽💯 thanks for commenting ❤️❤️❤️
I like the bits you notice. With your background, I never catch them but I can nod knowingly as if I did and was just giving you a chance to say it first
Love the breakdown on the video .. the technical aspect ... Ren's music is heave to my ears and not having any skills at all myself, learning about th e other aspects of the videos is my new joy :) Thank you!
I couldnt wait to see your reaction to such an epic video. How TF do the do the transitions at the car door? Its like Children Of Men, but they removed the roof for that & used cgi to add it in later. Ren's doing all this low budget.
In his twitch stream after the show he said the license plate is just a license plate, it doesn’t have any special meaning. Doesn’t stop us from assigning a meaning, though! 😅😂
Oh, yeah, I enjoyed your video... how you puzzled things out and got so excited about the camera work and other things. I trust we both know who the cameraman is by now. Luke is what I heard and he did phenomenal work. (Oh, I just looked up to your highlighted comment... Luke Flegg. Hope you've done some creative and satisfying projects since this reaction.)
It's so refreshing hearing your perspective on how they could have pulled off the one take video. I was so excited knowing you'd be impressed with the transitions. Many other reactors just say it's a cool video and wavy song, but appreciating the intricacies of how hard it must have been to make the video is lost on them. Amazing reaction Joe-E (two E's, no Y's) 😁
Ren updated the description on the music video...it was filmed by Luke Flegg🫡
Seriously? I guess Luke Flegg is the Ace up Ren's sleeve for when SPF is unavailable.
This is the type of stuff that should be studied, in depth, at film schools.

You gotta be a master at walking backwards to be Ren's cameraman... and backwards through a window?!?!?! Big props !!!
King of the camera - made it look so seamless - great job.
Shout out to you ! Really good work , hope see you soon for more collaborations.

I eas just going to say that... video by Luke Flegg, posted in the description
So there's one splice in the car window! Still really impressive and a banging tune!❤
Another 🔥track from REN. No surprise but thoroughly enjoyable!!!!! Great reaction! Nice job getting it out fast.
Thank u SingleSpeed🙏🏽 Once I'm locked in on a specific artist I think I'll always focus my best on getting it out early👊🏽💯 thanks for commenting ❤️❤️❤️
I like the bits you notice. With your background, I never catch them but I can nod knowingly as if I did and was just giving you a chance to say it first
FYI he also said that this took about 5-6 hours to dial in
Love the breakdown on the video .. the technical aspect ... Ren's music is heave to my ears and not having any skills at all myself, learning about th e other aspects of the videos is my new joy :) Thank you!
Quality reaction Joe you are up there with Knox stay safe bro
Awe man😔🙏🏽 idk about anywhere near him yet, but the compliment is super appreciated❤️❤️❤️
I couldnt wait to see your reaction to such an epic video. How TF do the do the transitions at the car door? Its like Children Of Men, but they removed the roof for that & used cgi to add it in later. Ren's doing all this low budget.
I've been going through your videos and I was so glad I found this one! I love the camera transitions from place to place
Yeah, Ren's killin' it!! (pun intended) he looks so great!!!!!!! love this song!! really enjoy your channel, dude. much love, kathleen
This music video puts me in mind of Guy Ritchie and Tarantino films. Masterfully done and an excellent reaction to it.
🔥 Ren definitely squeezed the trigger and pulled it!
I love this song, it’s fire
Absolutely love your recreations ♤♡♤ love all your reaction actually but these are my favorite lol
Dazai, I'm so glad u enjoy the reactions here on my channel❤️ And I really really appreciate all the support u have shown my way🙏🏽 absolutely humbled😔
In his twitch stream after the show he said the license plate is just a license plate, it doesn’t have any special meaning. Doesn’t stop us from assigning a meaning, though! 😅😂
Yes... was hoping ya did this Today!!!
LETS GO!!!!!!
This was fun Joe.
Love your perspective.
Everything is sick, including the visuals. How did the canera go in and out if the car seamlessly? 🤔 Just really incredible!
Love the explanation of how they worked the camera on this. Not sure who shot this one, but they were awesome!
Hey brother! Glad to catch your channel directly, I love your appearances with BP.
Late to getting to reactions been crazy busy at work... Great reaction Joe... I was dancing along with you!
Bopping the whole song🤣🤣🤣
While I was watching the video, I was thinking about You Joe E and getting excited about the video photography. ❤❤❤
Loved hearing your perspective on the filmmaking aspects!
I was so excited to watch your reaction to this one! It’s a damn masterpiece
Yes! Enjoyed this, and thanks for the filming details!
Hi, first time watching your Ren reaction. Your take gives yet another level of appreciation to me 🎈
It's so refreshing hearing your perspective on how they could have pulled off the one take video. I was so excited knowing you'd be impressed with the transitions. Many other reactors just say it's a cool video and wavy song, but appreciating the intricacies of how hard it must have been to make the video is lost on them. Amazing reaction Joe-E (two E's, no Y's) 😁
