- What an amazing little drone! In this first flight with the DJI Mini 4K I flew it down the Boise River and showed you some of the area around Eagle, Idaho. They are easy to fly the only time I crashed one was when the drone took off and there was no gps lock on it and started drifting into the trees with the wind but it was a different drone just make sure you hear the voice home point has been updated before you take off and check how many satt you have

I was the one that mentioned in your previous post that the Mini 2 got 60fps @ 2.7k after a firmware update.

On the bottom right of the attitude indicator, press that arrow, and that turns into the gps screen. I like to follow the red line from there to get back home. Obviously, it's extremely accurate, and it works if maps are loaded or not.

The reason the gravel pits make those ponds, is due to the proximity to the river, and the water table level. As they dig down, they have to use pumps to keep the water from filling the hole up. When they are done digging, they turn the pumps off, and the pond fills to the level of the surrounding water table. In my area, they will stock the ponds with fish, plant some trees, and then turn over the property to the town or state for use as public space.

The little Mini Ron 4k performed flawlessly, just as I expected it would. And camera quality looked very good, and these small sensors generally perform well given enough light. I suspect the dynamic range is still limited, but maybe it has improved from the Mini 2. Great test flight Marcus, thanks for sharing.

Seems odd that DJI chose to discontinue the Mini 2.. but now revives it under the guise of a Mini 4K? and people scorned Fimi for their Fimi V1 - V2 & now V3 update?? Odd. Is DJI just shelf clearing? I still love the Mavic Mini & get a kick out of it every time its out.
It's essentially a rebranded Mini 2. The price point is outstanding!

I'm just learning how to fly my Mini 4k, first day it was in a field and we we lost sight of it, that was when I found the 'find my drone' in the app, it was on the back side of a bush but was found, several crashes later, I'm getting better...all that background said, did some flying over an abandoned barn, the camera is AWESOME, the gimbal is great, it was windy/gusty and the images of the barn was perfect, moving or hovering.

The ponds are for the making of the concrete since different levels of concrete take more or less water to gravel ratio. Also use water for the grinding and cutting of the stone to prevent wear and tear of the cutting blades. Easy to have ponds and collect rain water and filter it then use city water and have to pay for it. Plus the amount of water they would go through city water would have the capacity needed to do what they need.

Dude I can’t thank you enough for this video. Most videos I watched literally said the only way you can do a 4k shot was in Quickshot mode 😑 I’ll be honest I never ever knew I could click on that writing at the bottom so the fact you showed this was a MASSIVE help. Very good video aswell. Shame the uk has restrictions on the distance which is 500m max I believe, this is because of the VLOS rules.

If you think the river is interesting at that spot during the day you should see it at night flying a high resolution thermometric camera.

What options does the DJI 4k have to transfer media from the drone to your phone?
With your camera connected to the R/C and the R/C connected to the drone, select the files in the playback menu and click the download button.

Nice shots, enjoyed that. So I am not a novice drone pilot. I have, but out of commission currently, a Phantom 3. I just purchased the mini 4k to get back in the air with a small investment. Only flew it once so far. Went well. I did notice that I can't change the settings from metric to imperial. Other videos I watched people were changing the country location. The slider for changing to imperial is grayed out. There is no country location that I can find. I see yours is set to metric, are you stuck with metric as well? Also I had the version from Google play, which I latter found out is not the official version. It is a scam version requiring a subscription. Found out you have to download directly from DJI, which for a big company like DJI, I found that ridiculous. So am I stuck with metric only as far as you know? My phone is an Android Samsung Galaxy A51, if that matters.
My advice is to download the correct Fly app from DJI. You can then select imperial or metric.

mine should be delivered on Monday. I called DJI and could not understand the woman on the phone. My question was "what mapping programs is it compatible with and does it drop pins? I understand it shows tracking in Apple or Google maps. I am mostly wondering about Garmin mapping in my Montana 700. I plan to use it for spotting hunting sites for later hunts. We have a very large area to search for Oryx in New Mexico.
I doubt there are any mapping programs that will work with this little drone. It's not really an enterprise product. That said, I don't have any experience in that area, and don't know. 👍

Hey there. The mini 4k seems like it’s got some promise eh? Someone asked me the other day if the Mini 4k has a special feature the mini 2 has when returning home. With the 2, we are able to yaw and change the height during the automated RTH function. Do you know or can you test to see if the 4k has that or if it’s been stripped away like it has been for the 3 and 4 pro?
I need to check that RTH yaw. I suspect it does. I'm sure that DJI took it away on the Mini 3 Pro because of OA.

I am in the process of purchasing DJI MINI 2.
I only considered the Mini 2 used, but the Mini 4K version has been available on Amazon for a week. The cost of the used 2 is up to 75% of the value of the Mini 4K in the Fly More equipment.
Do you think it's worth the extra 25%?
You do get a warrenty with the Mini 4K. They are basically the same drone though.

Great video Marcus, I just got my mini 4k a couple weeks ago… My first drone… I flew it a few times and then tried to use the FPV mode just to add a different dimension to my videos, not flying too close to things but just to sort of simulate flying… But I tried putting it into FPV mode which I thought should lock up the gimble so it would tilt as the drone tilted… It did not, but just kept the horizon flat…So I’m wondering if this feature is supposed to work on this drone… I have asked the question of DJI customer support but have not gotten a response yet… What do you think about this… Thanks again for the great video content!!!

Thank you John. That is exactly what FPV mode is supposed to do. It locks the gimbal. I’m not sure why it didn’t work for you.

120m is not max legal for sub 250g it a good practice but not required. Only over 250g is 120m regulated. Well atleast here in Canada 0 Transport Canada regulations on sub 250g there are shoulds such as line of sight height ect. but even says on the gov.ca website says not required. Use good judgement and dont be dumb.
I wish the US would use the same common sense that Canada does with drone regulations. Your points are well taken.

Amazing video, i just wonder if battery from mini 2 / mini 2se works with mini 4k, on picture they look the same but i read somewhere that they are not working with each other.
