My father, the eldest, was 13 years older than his youngest brother. (Of seven surviving children.) I have seen this in my own family. My father was more of a father figure, especially as my grandfather died relatively young.

And they both shared a passion for equestrian sports. Both of them were actually presidents of the International Equestrian Federation. Maybe this doesn't mean much for most people, but if you're an equestrian you know the kind of bond there is among our community.

The UK could follow the Jordanian approach and allow the Monarch to decide who is the most appropriate successor. That means for those interested in the top job, they have to make their case for it rather than burden the first born and allow the others to live the high life. If merit would be the consideration Anne would be first in line. That said if merit were consideration, the head of state could be elected. But wait, we already elect a Prime Minister and guess what we chose a buffoon.
The Princess Royal saw the storms brewing between her brothers way before anyone else. She was a young teen when Andrew came along, hers and Prince Charles' upbringing were totally different. Once mum became Queen, their care was turned over too the Queen Mother. Whereas with Prince Edward and Andrew, she (the Queen) was able too be more hands on. Nice age gap between the 2 sets. I think that's also the reason Princess Anne refused a title foe her family, wanted them too have somewhat of a normal upbringing, and they did have that. Now her children can support the crown and grandmother on their own terms..

How do I feel about Andrew and Anne. I think Anne is a lovely, hardworking, loyal, intelligent lady that deserves more accolades than she's been given. Looking at her failed marriage I can only say this: I was older than her when I got married, yet I felt in the past 35 years many times like murder some one. (don't stress it is only one person not the world)
My prayers is that The Princess Royal will have a long life still ahead of her and that God keep her safe in His hands for her family and also the British people.
It's a good thing Prince Andrew is not the immediate successor to the Throne. He might have behaved like the Royal Hugh Hefner and turned the various castles into penthouses. This is what happens when a child is spoiled: a weak awareness of proportions and responsibilities as well as the notion that the universe and everything else is centered around them.
This scandal could lead to the monarchy collapsing. Recently their lifestyles appear like some sordid soap opera than anything resembling Royalty.

If Andrew really is the Queen's favorite, I imagine that it's because of his appearance and because she found him amusing when he was growing up. Andrew was considered attractive in his younger years. Also, even if he was a handful as a child, it would have been easy for her to find him amusing, since she didn't have to constantly deal with him. The nannies did all the grunt work with regard to raising the Queen's children.
So ur blaming the nannies for the way he Andrew turned out.
After a bit of a gap between Charles and Anne, HM kind of surprised us with her third child and then another. I can’t help thinking that she thought, now I can relax and enjoy their childhood. Of course she had nannies. Why would you question that? There are people a lot less profile than the Royal family who have nannies. Andrew was the only child (out of 4) who was, to me, a bit of a gung ho devil may care. He did serve his country, he has always been extremely supportive of his mother and father and has not gone to say, “woe is me”. A bit arrogant perhaps and some poor choices. Some parents may single out a child from the others because they feel they may need more guidance than the others. It doesn’t mean they favour them over the others.

They bypassed many Catholics who had a closer blood tie to the Queen and picked George, the Elector of Hanover. Well with Vicky marrying German Bertie come the end of Victoria’s reign the so called British Royal Family refused to help their Russian cousin Nicholas Romanov that it would be seen publicly as good cricket and take the Russian Royal Family under their wing. And had their original family surname in 1916 changed from Sax-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor. As they certainly didn’t want a repeat of what happened to their Romanov Family at the end of the Russian Revolution.

As an American who used to be in the Dental industry, my professional opinion is that Princess Anne actually has a descent "bite" (her deciduous/baby teeth fell out on time or a dentist pulled them so to avoid over-crowding). Which means that her upper (maxillary) arch & lower (mandibular) arch match up together. Just like anybody, I'm pretty sure that Anne gets her "re-calls" done twice a year (root scaling to have plaque removed to prevent gum disease & get prophylaxis "pasted/polished). Those are Anne's teeth. What if Anne has sensitive teeth to where it's painful for her to whiten them??? Also, Anne obviously brushes her teeth...🙄 I mean, look at ALL the people she engages with??? I wouldn't be surprised at all if Anne had a travel size bottle of "Crest Pro Health" mouth wash in her purse...
