A lesser interviewer would have shirked the important questions or did what media people usually do when sitting in front of a member of the royal family - tugged their forelocks and behaved obsequiously. Maitlis played her part superbly and deserves a huge amount of credit for a job well done.

What happened was a very experienced interviewer asked a stream of carefully-phrased questions designed to entrap the idiot being interviewed & upon & around that a massive fantasy was built & sold (at 65p or more per daily copy) to the voracious public as fact when it blatantly bore no relationship with the tiny shreds of actual evidence presented.

So she was a very professional and experienced journalist, while andrew was clearly not an experienced interviewee. She had the upper hand. Does that make her a superior human being?

What WOULD have been really funny would be if she'd asked Andrew some killer question near the end of the interview and he'd broken out in a sweat ! LOL
