As a Pacers fan, I've watched every one of Nembhard's NBA games. His improvement has been steady, and I don't think there's a limit to how good he's going to become.
Andrew Nembhard really has all star potential his offensive versatility makes him so dynamic and he displayed it even in the games with haliburton these playoffs. In 2 years if he signs with a team in free agency that will let him be the primary ballhandler i can see him averaging a efficient 20+ points with 7 assists
@@kalu8652 I doubt the pacers would let him leave for nothing but if he continues to progress he could possibly be out of their price range when he becomes a free agent
@@kalu8652Nembhard’s situation in Indiana reminds me a lot of what Quickley’s situation was early on with the Knicks & Hali’s situation when he was on the Kings.
We decline his 4th year, and he is a restricted free agent, so he can match any offer. We can also offer him an extension in July of around 4 years - $80mil.
Lmfao yo!!! Big facts!! And the way Steph looked at him after he dropped him and splashed that 3 ball said everything we needed to know about Andrew lol😂
Great breakdown! I was so impressed by him and how he stepped up. He plays much bigger than he is on defense and he’s so efficient as a scorer. The confidence is there too.
Nemby was the absolute top steal of the draft last year. As a Pacers fan, I can't believe how well we did in the 2022 draft with Mathurin and Nembhard.
Canada is going to love this guy at the Paris Olympics. And they already have Jamal Murray and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the backcourt. Definitely a threat for a medal.
Games 3 and 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals was fun to watch even though they lost. The Pacers were a different squad with Nembhard running the point. And he was fearless.
TJ McYoda has been teaching him the force for 2 seasons in a row. Ben Shepard is also learning a lot from TJ. His numbers were also low because he only started 47 games this season. His minutes were able to improve a lot after we lost Bruce Brown & Buddy to trades and also when Mathurin went out with injury.
I remember seeing him in his fists summer league and my friend said Kendall brown is good I was like no look at nemhard how he’s playing he knows how to play he laughed at me I was right it was so obvious to me
As a Pacer fan I love him. He just signed a new 3 year contract. But there is no way in Hell he will be on our team for long. He is way to good to play behind Ty. We need to trade him as soon ASAP mainly next year. He not going to want to play in Ty shadow. I see the same thing playing out as it did Jalen Brunson
Pacers fan here and great content. The fan base knew he was at times a stud but everyone reeling on his high level play in the playoffs. We would not have made our run without him doing what he did. Great break down. What do you think about Bennedict Mathurin as well?
@@justinking3558 You’re right but he has good IQ I think focusing on scoring was intentional especially since he’s proven to be able to take the clutch shots. Very excited to see his growth this year

Pacers have an overwhelming plethora of talented young guys whose best position is at the 2 for them. Nembhard, Mathurin, Nesmith and Sheppard. Starting next season, you probably just have Mathurin play most of the backup 2/3 minutes but it's definitely harsh on Sheppard to be more or less out of the rotation. Good problem to have, having too many good young players. But this team really could use a 3&D SF with size to match up against the big SFs in the eastern conference (Pacers had to face Middleton, OG and Tatum just in this playoff run alone and 6'5 Aaron Nesmith can't guard them at his size). I would not be surprised to see 1 of Mathurin or Nembhard moved as they both have a lot of value to other franchises who want to rebuild. You could rebuild around either one of those guys as part of a young duo. I suspect Indy will want to keep Nembhard around but if you could get a really good SF back in return, you have to at least consider it if you're Indiana.
His trajectory reminds me a lot of Brunson's: from 2nd round pick, to carving out a rotation spot, to being a starter alongside a star lead PG, to becoming the lead PG in the middle of the playoffs because of injury and excelling at it. He's taken these steps even quicker than Brunson, which doesnt mean he is going to develop to borderline all star and superstar like Brunson did in the past two seasons. Actually I don't think he will because I don't see Indiana letting him go, so he'll probably have at least 2 more years developing alongside Haliburton... let's see
Pacers fan, not sure what his #s were when Ty was out for a while with the hamstring, but he was ballin then + he's been our best guard defender all season long by far. Nesmith gets more credit cause he takes the bigger defensive matchup and displays more energy but I think Drew's easily a more skilled defender. So glad to see him grow and start to gain some national attention.
There a reason Indiana extended him 4 years right away. He could honestly be a starting PG on a lot of teams in this league and because of that there will at some point inevitably be a lottery team that scoops him up for A LOT of money and Indiana will have to let him go 😢
Wish the Pacers could have taken at least one game. Those three close ones, just one little thing different would have been enough. Use your timeouts Carlisle 😡
To the point of his defense, just this playoff run alone he’s had to guard Dame, Brunson, hart, JT, JB, Jrue, Derrick white. And they all got off on him but he never ran from the match up and stayed with it. Which young guys shy away from
Am I the only one here seeing shades of Jordan Poole here? Hoping he turns out more like Maxey, but all this sudden hype in a complementary role behind a top 5 PG has me hoping he keeps working hard and doesn’t let this sudden attention get to his head like it did with Poole.
Love Drew and always thought he was going to be good but I do believe that Mathurin has a much higher ceiling. Going to be very interesting to see how this turns out for the Pacers once they need to resign them
Btw, muscle is not a concern for Nembhard. He may appear to be slim. But I promise his stature is deceiving. It’s been a running joke amongst the Pacers community that he is one of the strongest players in the league at his size. Just watch some of his drives to the rim and see him overpower guys.
Interesting. Never thought about CJ. He and Hali could play next to each other like Dame and CJ. We play with such pace and there are plenty of possessions for them to get their food.
@@Whydoweneedhandles427 I am not sure CJ ever played much defense lol. He hit so many tough shots though. Outsiders are already trying to say Nemby needs his own team. That is just media talk. He and Hali could pair so nicely for the next 8-10.
Isn't that what Carlisle is famous for? Micro-managing his point guards to the teeth? So much so that good point guards don't want to work with him? So no, I would not automatically think the kid is great, he might be but I would think it's about Carlisle doing that again and make another average players look like an all star.
