- Hello and welcome to Basic Fishing from New Zealand. In this video, I was out on the kayak again and after several failed attempts to try and get some kingfish, I decided to purely focus on getting snappers instead. After learning what was working and what wasn't, I decided to use smaller softbaits than I usually use around 3 inches and a slim profile. This made a huge differences and I was able to get some good snapper from the shallows which was great. Hope my next kayak mission will reward me with a kingfish....

Another awesome video mate. Also just a tip to make things easier, if you have a small towel or tea towel and make it damp but not wet. Then cover the snappers eyes with the damp cloth and hold them upside down they pretty much freeze in position making it easier to unhook them. Basically grab the top of the head with your cloth and hold them upside down. It’s what I always do, hope it works for you too. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the info!
Thank you for the video.
