I realized that i am feeling anxious almost every second of my life. I am actually assessing every action of mine to determine whether i am a narcissist or not. Some negative thoughts come up and i get anxious about being toxic. I really need to calm down

I have somatic anxiety. I don't believe the problem is random events we have no control over, it's the perception that we have no control. We can always make preparations to ameliorate the effects.
And yes, deep breathing helps. Many thanks for the reminder.

Something that worked for me through CBT was to laugh at myself....and say out loud ..
"here we go again" And laugh....also I would say ...."this is not real". Bringing myself back to reality
    that everything is okay.

Deep slow breathing or diaphragmatic breathing is something I regularly forget is a thing..and yet so easy and effective in the moment to calm the body and nervous system. Appreciate these videos very much.

It really is my go-to! I often recommend consciously doing it at least three times a day for two weeks - and then it begins to become automatic. So pleased you are finding my videos helpful and thank you for letting me know!

@@BarbaraHeffernan Thanks so much Barb! ..and for the practical suggestion. Best if it becomes second nature probably. An easy to access antidote to excessive rumination and an escape from the tensed up shallow breathing anxiety can create. I did a detour through the Botanical Gardens today…very calming. And yes..your videos are truly great.

It's fascinating how often examples of catastrophizing end up with the person fearing homelessness. My adult aging sibling is homeless (chronic) and that is the trigger for my constant intense anxiety (which is both cognitive and somatic at the same time usually). Being homeless is not the worst case; it can get worse than that. And when your anxiety and worry is involving the health and safety of a homeless loved one, one whose health and safety has already been in jeopardy, the catastrophizing mind goes to some truly horrific places. Yes, the feelings of sadness and powerlessness are there. Your anxiety/boundaries video was a gem as well.

Thank you for your reminders of how important it is to calm the body through breathing and grounding activities. It's a learning curve and a process. I love the way you focus on just a few things at a time. It helps me apply what I've been learning the last couple years to whatever arises from day to day. 💟🌹 Thanks again!

This is destroying my life and making me miserable. That, and my depression. My impulse control goes straight to 0 when the anxiety is at its peak...
Then when it's over, I'm lie "What just came over me?"
It's like a second person takes over when my anxiety is at its peak...
I fight... Women. I wage war.
    With my husband, I flight.
    Anxiety causes delusions...
I literally believe what ever is going on in my head... Replaying it over and over and over in my head.
This is affecting me to the point of frequent anxiety attacks.

Hi Kori: I only do a very small amount of online coaching and do not take insurance. I have an online program that has helped people with anxiety, it can be a complement to therapy or stand alone, but it is not therapy. Info is here: www.awakenjoy.life/roadmap. There are testimonials from people about how it helps. More info is also available with my online webinar. Link in notes to this video. Wishing you health and healing!

I was doing fine and I woke up and it was 3:45am and looking at my watch is what set me off. How does a watch do that. My watch was off my arm but I went to put it on and I saw it go 82bpm and to me that is not the right reading because I took a Tenormin which is a beta blocker at midnight and a NyQuil so I know it wasn’t going that fast but I thought it was anyway. I am so damn anxious right now that I’m here on my iPhone 2 minutes to 4:00am hoping that it doesn’t turn into a panic attack. This is one of the worst feelings I’ve ever had in my lifetime. I hate anxiety but I hate panic attacks even more. So to avoid getting one I didn’t want to sit in my bed in the dark and breathe my way through it, so I took 1mg of Klonopin. Ugh 😩 I have had panic disorder for the last 34 yrs. Barbara Heffernan if you’re reading this, I want to thank you for making these videos. You are my Dr. Claire Weekes on TH-cam and for that I’m grateful!!
