i have same DENON with also CD system no more working i reapaired already one time, but after 4 months , out of order again, i fear cost of reapair is more or equivalent to a new DENON did you arrange yr problem meantime ? rgds
The weakness in Denon cd players is the disk tray drive belt that opens and closes the disk tray, it then has to lift the cd into position for it to play. The drive belt is basically a thin rubber band that loses elasticity fairly quickly. Once it becomes slightly loose, it won’t load a cd properly. If you play a lot of cd’s, it won’t last very long. Worst design ever.
It sounds like a mechanical problem! Given the sounds I hear, it spins the CD up trying to read the data. Then you hear a repetitive clicking noise - to me this sounds like it is a slipping gear/sprocket. It wants to move it, but it is stuck. So with force, it keeps slipping over a tooth of the gear (if that makes any sense to you?). This might be either a fault in the laser carriage moving (in&out or lens up&down) - or a broken switch (corroded contact, loose wire, physically broken) that is actuated. CD playing in steps 1. Loading disc 2. Checking disc is in and set properly 3. Spinning up of disc (variable speeds) 4. Positioning the laser (moving cartridge to desired spot) and focusing the lens (by moving it up and down) 5. Reading TOC (table of contents) - it reads out number of tracks and overall playing time, usually shown on display after 6. Ready to play CD This video gives a good idea of how it works: th-cam.com/video/yWeWXytbh9M/w-d-xo.html Since step 1-3 works, the problem seems to be step 4. You can try opening the device and manually reposition the laser cartridge. So next time trying to play the worm gear motor will move it to recalibrate its position. That might help. You might also check for any rubber driving belts in the system. Sometimes they get loose with time and start slipping. You can also visually check for switches in the mechanic workings - for corroded contacts or other problems (broken of part, blocking by small debris, loose wire etc.) Try to find a service manual if you're a handy person - they often can be found as a free PDF on Google. That also might give an explosion drawing and troubleshooting guide, sometimes internal test mode etc. Good luck!
Same problem, went to repair at least three times, as I had bought a new one. I am tired and going to change brand, surely i will lose some sound quality but will win rest
Most certainly it is the belt driving both the eject system AND lifting the CD into reading position. Disassemble following instructions at th-cam.com/video/qm9X6L0GhMo/w-d-xo.html but only remove the top part of wiring, it allows you sufficient space to get to the belt and relace it. You don't necessarily need a original replacement belt, a rubber band of similar size works fine. Check before reassembly that the disc after being "swallowed" is lifted into its "play" position.

When switched on the screen does not display anything.blank.the power green light comes on.could it be a fuse
Have you got it fixed? Mine starts okay, but keeps 'slipping', it 'rewinds' to a few seconds or 'fast-forwards' a few seconds frequently🙂

The clicking you hear is due to a worn drive belt which causes the teeth to slip / click.
try going to next track. Mine also did not auto play but when i skipped a track it worked.
