Thank you for posting this video. Thanks to you, I've just fixed my 22 year-old UDM30 with a £5 replacement drive belt from ebay! A little extra info for anyone whose CD tray belt is as slack as mine was - the new one will sit within the >< shape of the wheels, it won't sit flat. Also, it's not that easy to see in the video, but the connections between the CD unit and the main unit, and between the display and the CD unit, the ends if the ribbons just push into the connectors - don't expect half the connector to come away with the ribbon. Lastly, if you need to fix an errant volume pot by cleaning out the grease, when you are removing the circuit board for access, you may find that, even after removing the screws, the board won't come free - one of the plastic locating pins on mine was oversized, the board was jammed onto it - I had to drill it out with a pin drill. Thanks again!
Thank you - just fixed mine for the same issue - hardest part was disconnecting the ribbons - see previous comments about that - made my daughter very happy she now has a “retro” machine to play CD s on - still produces a very decent sound…
I was given an D-M37DAB that would not eject, I fixed that problem, I sanded all the screwdriver marks of the front tray from the previous owner. Pity he did not know if you unplug and powerup the tray will eject, but would not respond to the open tray button. Also the screw / cam mechanism to lift the cd was stuck fixed that (possibly jammed by previous owner levering out a CD) I guess the tray detector needs work because the tray does not stay out for long. (I have seen you repair the travel switch on YT, one day I will have a go) The MP3 USB socket is what I use it for so the CD is not needed. all the best
Sir, I really enjoyed watching this video because my Denon RCD-M41 model receiver is having trouble reading factory and homemade discs. I have also noticed for a few months that periodically, the unit will make "clicking" sounds too. I removed the cover to take a look at everything and didn't see anything that looked like it might be broken. First, I experimented just opening and closing the CD tray without a disc and it seems to work well, but it will take between 3-4 times before it will actually indicate that it is trying to "READ" anything. When I tried a disc, the tray would simply open and close several times and the disc would not spin once inserted. I also cleaned the lens and it didn't make any difference. If you have any feedback on this, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
These units also suffer rotary dial issues. Worked on about 10 of these units now. Some are simple fixes like what you done with a belt of the plastic tray loading mech needed some lubrication. Last one needed a laser so not worth the expense.
Hi I have a DENON RCD-M33 Look similar to this, the CD tray work but CD wouldn’t play inside, do you have any idea what might be wrong, 😢 I cannot find any video showing how to fix that
Hi 12voltvids, Thanks for the video. I have this unit where the CD does not work anymore. It skipped tracks twice, so I opened it up, lubricated everything and cleaned the lens. After that I was running the ‘CD calibration procedure’ described in the service manual so everything gets calibrated. When this was happening the power went off in the house. Now, the CD does not spin at all after loading, and if re-run the calibration procedure it shows the error code ‘02E0’. I have no idea what can be done to fix it. Absolutely no information about the error code and a probably fix anywhere in the internet. Any pointers, suggestions greatly appreciated.
I'd have given the optical pickup lens a clean if it was that dusty (if it needed it - but you wouldnt know unless you pulled the mechanism apart further)

Those little DENON mini have excellent sounding for their size. Nice job !

Just fixed up my old UD-M30 using this video - exactly the same issue, exactly the same fix. Thanks so much for the very helpful guide!
Totally Great video! My denon hasnt been working for years. I swapped the bet, just an ordinary rubberband and voila!

Yes if the laser had been bad it probably would not have been done.
Replacement lasers for these are cheap as chips
That's a nicely made player, good quality bit of kit.
I'm sure the owner will be happy :-D
Buena reparación, solo fue un cambio de banda y por $5.00 pesitos solamente excelente siiiii 😃👏👏👏👍👍

For how dusty that unit was I'm surprised you didn't clean the optical pick up.
I did, compressed air. Did it off camera
Awesome, I used this to fix mine! Subscribed, upvoted!

Interesting form factor. Super long but not very tall or wide.
thats what she said
I have the same unit with the same problem. Hope it is just the belt.
Any idea where to get a belt for this unit?
No
You can buy one off the internet - I bought one from a company in UK
I hate working on equipment that has those ribbon connectors they are very fragile wires and connectors.
I had to work on my DSI, the origami they had the shoulder buttons/SD card slot was in was insane. Fiddly as heck. You have to fold the cable too
nice little system one i have is a little more high end
I never seen a unit like that one before. Interesting.
I remember your phone line video, and I heard pots lines are being shut in 2025? That's sad. I miss pots lines
That is a big A$$ transformer on that Denon!
CD-R is CD recorder
