I have a 5 skilled german medium tank crew, 5th skill being at 97%. At those levels even 1% increase needs thousands of xp. Once in a while I was retraining them whatever new tank I wanted to play and they were always at 100% main because undistributed xp was so high.
This is actually why I kind of backed off with the Crew feature in WoT, there's too much going on can be confusing unlike crews on WT but I do like the fact that they seemed to have more depth and personality for crew members in WoT, the "Crew" part of the game is definitely one of the most confusing part for me about the game and I wished I know more about and this is just what I need. Thanks max, appreciate it! 🍻
Thank you very much. I am very unfamiliar with this game especially the crew and its skills. Your video is very short and easy to understand for me, thank you once again.
I've watched a couple of your vids on crews so far and I think you do a good job explaining a lot of the aspects. One thing I think you should mention is that you are explaining from the perspective that you are selling off the tanks and no longer playing them. You kind of allude to this practice in the video, but I think you would do well to make that plain at the outset. Some people will be keeping their tank and thus be keeping their crew and not advancing them. Another thing you may want to consider mentioning is when you are quickly working up the tech tree. For example, the first few tiers, you can advance through them so fast that retaining your crew is only a nominal benefit. Otherwise, good work!
Yes, I am coming from the perspective that you would want to sell and then move your crew up. Since if you didn't you already know what to do, get a new crew and start training them. I did also go through about how to move the crews etc into premium tanks so you can make the training less difficult. You are correct there isn't much point of moving the crews up in low tiers, unless you have spent some time on the tank and starting grinding the crew up.
i wish i knew those tips back in the early years of plating wot - when i dismissed each crew after sell and hire new crew for new tank. great video, thanks
Retraining tips would have been good addition to this video and without details mentioning skill reset tips something like 1 skill use free 2-3 use 80% but if u have a lot of skills always reset with gold or u lose a lot of xp with crew 2.0 I guess all this will change Keep up good content thnx
Yep resetting a 3 perk crew with silver looses you around 290,000 xp while retraining the crew to a new tank of a different type for silver looses around 64,000 xp and the same class is only a loss of around 40,000 xp, that's a big difference. Though I suppose if you have the silver to spare the first method allows you to dump crew books (250,000 crew xp) to make back the loss, which you cant use on sub 100% main qualification crews... WoTs crew system is so simple and straight forward lol.
My friend playing for more than 5 years said he never retrained crew, he always recruited new crews for getting higher tier tank. Also he said he never used equipment. I wished I was so relaxed as him.
If there's one thing to gripe about when it comes to crew is that I wish you can have the option to not receive a crew when purchasing a bond, Battle Pass token or premium(gold) tank. Because I'm fine with a tank line not having similar crew layouts throughout the tech tree because its to keep it semi-historically accurate. Hell you are lucky WG limits it to 6 crew members because the M3 Lee alone had 7 historically.
I rarely move crews unless I don't keep the tank I first had them in. They should have made BIA standard in addition to 6th sense, or gotten rid of it and made free crews 75% instead of 50%, and 20,000 credit crews 90%
You should put a link to that video you "thought" you made regarding skills/perks basics and the reasons for choosing one or the other among them based on the vehicle type. Repairs is useless for an Arty or a LT and its easy to make an argument that there are other more important skills/perks for MTs. So if you made this video about HTs you should say so.
This is very helpful. I just come to PC after 7 years on console and crew management has been the most difficult aspect of the change. The question I was trying to answer, you did not address in this video though. Can you discuss "enlarging barracks"? Although I am not buying crews for no reason, just starting the game (starting all the tech trees) as well as whaling Christmas boxes has landed me with a lot of crew members. Should we enlarge the barracks as we progress through the game, or is it something that is really not even necessary? Love the content btw, subscribed!
What puzzled me was the Swedish TD line where you have gunner skills available for both the commander and driver (on the 3-man crews). This made me wonder if having the crew skills of Snapshot and Deadeye for both would be beneficial or if just one having Snapshot and one having Deadeye would be optimal. I think the Swedish tanks that use siege mode, in theory, have the driver as the gunner in siege mode and the commander as the gunner in travel mode. I am still not too sure how this works between them but I assumed that as long as one of them had Snapshot it would be ok. 🙂
How do you send a crew without penalty from a premium vehicle to a newly researched tech tree tank? Do you train them in your premium vehicle for tech tree tank? Edit: or do you reset skills before moving to a tech tree tank from premium one, so that penalty is compromised by skill/perk experience?
The crew should always be from a tech tree tank and not a premium. Example, the crew should be the S Conq crew in an Caernarvon AX. Just retrain the crew to a tech tree tank with the same class and nation if you already have a premium tank crew.
Everyone mentions BIA as a 5% bonus yet no one mentions or explains it offering only a 2.5% benefit. Years ago all you got was statements on how it was a 2.5% benefit. Here is the thing, many of the individual perks/skill actually offer more benefit for a starting tanker, as will repair and camo depending on tank. I never recommend BIA to free players until they get that third skill to around 50%. I also on a personal lvl like to keep BIA away from normal crews 1st slot, simply as it gives me a visual on BIA zero skill crews. But with regard to BIA, no one seems to mention how it stacks on primary skill lvl, if your running the best set up, bond vents, vent directive, food, BIA, your commanders primary lvl can reach 126%! This gives a 10% commander bonus rounded to the nearest 10% meaning all crew members get a 13% primary skill increase, so your gunner is at 139% primary! Something to bear in mind when looking at tanks, equipment, crew skills is how they stack, and where those small increases do actually matter. Then there is economy, for me, if a tank has an odd crew layout, often retraining a crew role is way too expensive, it's a massive chunk of just getting a new 100% crew, or simply starting a new crew. It costs 500 gold to reset a crew role, even on a sale that's 375 gold, yet its 100 gold on a sale for a crew member at 100%. If you have had rentals you may have 100% crew laying around that can be retrained by using them in a premium to gain unallocated XP and using credits, free crew boosters and low lvl crew books are great for this. For instance tier 10 rentals often leave you with crews, I have an AMX 54 7v7 with 5 crew at 100%, I have lots of free crew books for 20k and 100k, so can at no real cost boost that crew to 90% unallocated, and with credits, retrain them for the BDR G1 for credits and they will be 100% plus. The B1 before it was elite with no crew skills as it takes no time to elite low tiers, so there is no benefit to moving that crew. All you need is to get a crew to about 80% on an unallocated 1st skill for a massive chunk of that XP to mean they stay 100% primary, so I would always say do not rush crews, or rush to swap them, you do not need to sell every tank as you progress, if you are looking at this guide as a simple introduction, maybe a newish player, selling all your tanks as you chase tier 10 is a sure fire way to bankruptcy, keep a few low tiers, dont worry about crews. If you are in an M6, keep it and it's crew. You get rental tanks, those have free 100% crew to retrain, you get free crew books, free crew boosters, you may even have a free or paid premium tank. Most of the low tiers you will breeze through even with 75% crews. Don't get me wrong, a 7 skill crew at tier 10 is great, your not getting that by grinding fast to tier 10 using your tier 1 crew. And make sure you do events that offer free BIA crew and training books.
Could have mentioned zero perks and how to get good crew members (campaigns and events for example), but indeed it might just make sense to wait for crew 2.0 as this will probably confuse the hell out of everybody 🎉
Hi, thank's for great content. I have a question that I haven't find any answer to. I know that situational awearness don't stack if two signalist have it, but for example, in Scorpion G both the signalist and the commander can have situational awearness. Does this stack? Or should I choose another skill for one of those crew? best regards from Sweden
Situational awareness never stacks, no matter what person has it. The only time you would want to put situational awareness on the commander and the loader for example, is when you move between a normal tank to a premium tank and the crew changes so you need the skills on the commander.
Hey. When u say class u mean Tier? Can i train my crew in a light tank tier3 and use in a say SPG? New to wot and this crew stuff is reley hard to understand :/ Thanks for video :)
Feel like you skimped over the BiA and reseting for it part. I always hear other content creators do so but never explaining it. Why would one train say repair or something and then reset for BiA over just training repair and then BiA after?
One question, i have a t29 that i like with a great crew and i just unlocked the t32 if I move my crew and retrain them for t32 i wont be able to use them in t29?
No, if you are wanting to keep your T29 after upgrading to the T32 you will need to train a new crew for the T29 after moving your crew up or train a new crew for the T32. I would advise moving the crew up with each tank and then training a new crew on a tank you like.
i dont see a scenario where this is the case but remember it must be the same nation and the same class + the crew must belong to a tech tree tank not a premium vehilce
@@lagtrix1081 I think what happens is when you put a Swedish HT tank crew into a Swedish TD crew then it resets the crews to TD and then if you want to return it to HT then you have to retrain again.
I'm playing on console witch is different from pc, I've just started again after years, but I can't buy a new crew like the old ones, we're there's a file under thier face, thar says "classified" ugh, The way it used to be is if you bought a tank you were given an option to buy a new crew with it or a sign an old one apparently you no longer even need a crew to man your tank because I've really just played a match in a tank with no crew the problem is they only want 3 crews of each nation and because 2 of the Chinese nation looked exactly the same I decided to delete one of them and buy a new one, just to find out I can't buy a new one, I can only buy a crew from a selection of new 3D crew member. Smh why fix something that isn't broken. Well now I have to delete until I only have two of each nation to keep my ocd in check.
These two skills are not as important as Brothers in Arms (BIA), Situational Awareness, Repairs, and even Fire Fighting. Signal Boost is better than Signal Relay because Signal Relay is wholly dependent upon you being near other tanks. Signal Boost is the better of the two because it improves your tank's range. That being said, neither are as useful as the perks and skills I first mentioned, unless you are playing a lower tier tank that is either way forward or way in the rear - i.e. Lights/scouts and TDs. For the most part, most tanks are played close enough to the actions (be it on the east or west side of the map) for these skills not to matter. At mid to higher level tiers, the tanks you will play have good enough range that these two skills are not worth it at all. So if you are playing tier III, IV, and V tanks with five skill crews, then you can consider taking them.

sounds simple but check that your crew members are the most trained. a few times I have noticed that I have put in crews with lower skills/perks.
