Yes, Syntel is correct! Holding a gun🔥 in India is really a huge deal. Infact as per government records, out of 1.4 billion people only 3.3 million holds gun licence, which is around 0.23% of whole population...
The reason why, because Indian government is very strict about firearms and doesn't issue licences easily unless you prove that there exists a threat to your life..
But yet some communities hold guns without license . ☺️

It's inspired by an ancient story Vikramaditya was a great king who ruled over a prosperous kingdom from his capital at Ujjain. He had immense love for learning as well as for adventure. He was brave, fearless, and with a strong will. Every day many visitors used to visit the king and gift him something. The King used to accept all the gifts with the same courtesy. Among such visitors was a mendicant who presented the king with fruit on every visit. King Vikramaditya used to hand over the fruit to the royal storekeeper. One day while handling the fruit, it broke and from the top came out a handy ball of a ruby. The King was surprised. He ordered to check all the fruits, and from all fruits came out a fine ruby. The King decided to meet the mendicant. However, the mendicant had set a condition that the King must meet him under a Banyan tree in the center of the cremation ground beyond the city, at night, on the 14th day of the dark half of the month. King met him as decided. The King asked the mendicant why he was doing this. The mendicant tells that there is a task that only a King like Vikramaditya can perform. King Vikramaditya had to visit the northernmost corner of this ground where he would find a very ancient tree. There would be a corpse hanging from one of its branches. He would have to fetch it for the mendicant, as the mendicant was seeking certain occult powers which he would get only if a king brought this particular corpse to him and if he would practice certain rites sitting on it.
According to the legend the King Vikramaditya, in order to fulfill a vow, was required to remove a corpse of Betaal from a treetop and carry it on his shoulder to another place in silence. En route, the spirit of Betaal (in the corpse) used to narrate a story to the king and after completing the story Betaal would pose a query that if he (The king) knew the answer, was bound to respond lest he will break his head into thousand pieces. But if he does speak out, he would break the vow of silence and Betaal would fly back to the treetop, leaving the king inches short of his destination! The king would go after the vampire and start all over again. And so on and so on and so on. As the name 'Betaal Pachisi' suggests the Betaal told King 25 stories.

Vijay Sethupati is the gem of Indian Cinema, not only Tamil. More power to him, hope he becomes the best one internationally as well.
Nothing against zaif,but i watched Vikram vedha Hindi version yesterday,and it made me appreciate madhavan more. Not that zaif was bad but he wasn't enough. Madhavan was intense and wow what a performance that went underappreciated. Hrithik brought a whole different take on vedha altogether,which i felt was very interesting. I Liked it. The final showdown was not something like the tamil one,it was more of a fan service,i guess the Hindi speaking people would have enjoyed it a lot. Also the moral dilemma,in the end you got a take a side,it's all grey but you still got to give justice between the two is made clear in the remake. But where the original stands superior is that,you remember all the faces that come across and the world in which the story takes place felt more real and raw but in the remake it doesn't. Again a moral dilemma but in this both the versions are good with very few flaws thats forgivable.✌️

first half is more likely a character development or character plots that to understand the situation better for second half. for me first half is so good because it tells every character's role like Vikram's wife is like a mediator between Vikram and Vedha. Simon is the best friend of Vikram. Puli is an Innocent man who didn't want to involve in gangs. relationship between Cheta and Vedha. those things are covered in first half so I don't think first is not good without it second half wouldn't have better understanding. VIJAY SETHUPATHI is a great actor that he wanted Vedha in this style, which is so different perspective. HRITHIK ROSHAN of remake of vikram vedha said that he admired and inspired of VIJAY SETHUPATHI'S acting

The intial cartoon is folk story of vikram and vetal. Bad wizard comes to king vikram as a poor old man to get him a demon vetal, which will help him. Vikram goes to get vetal hanging from a tree, each time he gets him down, vetal tells a story, asks a question and flies back to his tree. After 1000 stories vikram answering his questions, he understands his dharma, he realises ,old man is bad guy, is it okay break his word? Etc. From the stories.

To all those who r gonna attack me after reading this, hear this too...I agree that making remakes is not a bad thing... But bollywood is solely focussing on remakes only, and also terribly failing in making them better than Originals... Back those days we used to watch remakes coz we r unaware of originals n other industries, but now the tables hv turned, thanks to OTT platforms, we were introduced to indian cinema, so rather than wasting our hard earned money on bad remakes, we can just watch the originals with subtitles on ott platforms...

Absolutely!!! Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kankom was Vijay Setnupathi’s debut and it was incredible! It is also so worth it to watch Orange Mittai, and Pizza. All of these Vijay Sethupathi movies are absolutely amazing!!!!

Loved the honest review guys! True the 1st half was slow to build up the story in the 2nd half. But It was a cool movie in 2017 pov and for Indian audience to connect nuances of their childhood vikram-betal stories.
This is my favorite Indian thriller movie after Ratsasan.

" Vikramaditya & betaal " stories they heard during my child hood days like
Vikram is a king and he kills every people in a fight and he just catch a Ghost(betaal) hanging on a tree.....and he holding that betaal on his shoulder and while going to kingdom that betaal tells some stories or tales to him and asks questions like who is culprit who is innocent in that story....after that story that ghost disappear and went to same tree and in same position(hanging to tree branch) then Vikram again goes to that tree and catch that ghost took that ghost on his shoulder then repeat with some other tale....
Those tales are best thrillers with twists and turns makes us think about them....
In this movie the vikramaditya is Vikram(the police officer) who tries to catch the ghost betaal (i.e , Vedha) who said some story and asking Vikram the question about who is innocent who is culprit.....the director executed it soo well in this story + actors done their job very well....
You can never get the real fun until you get to know about the legend/myth of VikramBetal 😀

This is not a remake movie. It's modern day iteration of King Vikramaditya and Betal in cop and gangster story.

If the 1st half itself if u know what’s the story is then what’s the purpose of movie making. U r used to knowing the whole story in the beginning itself is a good thing or bad thing ???
It’s not just abt the surprising elements, but the acting, chemistry and cinematography & the Subtle dialogs, expressions of the actors while speaking certain tone of the language and how different the story telling is…. Those were the things u were supposed to be appreciative and should’ve been focusing on instead of figuring out what the story is abt 1st half itself.
The 1st half was building up to what to expect from the two characters and rest of the characters and make u think u figured out all the characters…. And get good effect while revealing the facts towards the 2nd half of the movie.
