@@OfficialMediaKnights This is the only movie in the franchise which I feel is too disgusting to watch a second time. The kid melting, the pregnancy scene... This movie felt like it really tried to go for the gore and disgust factor, and to me it felt like too much!
Ohhh man. Watching this movie was traumatizing, because not only was it intense (and I tend to become submerged into movies), but it went places I *never* expected to see onscreen in an *Alien* movie. Showing that first kid get "gotten"? (Yes, we knew from *Aliens* that kids were "gotten," but it was never *shown* -- only implied.) The hospital nursery? The maternity ward? That one really pregnant woman getting "egged"??? This movie was nightmare fuel. (Ironically, the scene that still haunts me is that little girl's bedroom, and her dad standing in front of her big window telling her there are no monsters out there. I find myself imagining that, whenever *I* look out of dark windows at night. 😱 ) But what's funny is that I have a good friend who used to live in Gunnison, CO. He found that part of the movie to be highly amusing, because it wasn't actually filmed in Gunnison, and also, Gunnison does not have a nuclear power plant. 😁
39:31 Till this day, I laugh so hard at that line. I know she has just been through a really traumatic night, but come on. "The Government doesn't lie to people" *insert J. Jonah Jameson laughing meme*
The thing I love in these movies is that we see some of the Predator hierarchy on screen, like you clearly see the difference between the Predators in AVP and AVPR. In AVP they were rookies who were going through their initiation and in AVPR we see what an experienced Elite level Predator in Wolf is like. Also Fun Fact: The predators name is inspired by Harvey Keitel character in Pulp Fiction also named the Wolf and also a cleaner lol
If you look in the background when Wolf predator takes off from his home-world you can see a pyramid, cementing in the fact that they taught humans how to build from the last AVP film

@OfficialMediaKnights and the predator was named wolf in this movie. The predators also have a ranking system based off of how many kills they achieve. Wolf was at the rank of an elite which is right before an elder.
@@williambowers1366 I'm guessing Wolf is one of those kinda guys that turns down the promotion to head honcho so he can stay in the game doing the real work, because he's just that addicted to what he does
Wolf is my favorite Predator from the Predator saga, an elite veteran, so experienced that he can do a complete hunt for xenomorphs without risking death (but getting injured), however, the Predalien was a tough rival for him, he was the twice as strong, that aberration could break the damn concrete with a headbutt, it is considered an insult to the Yautja race, Wolf's final battle against Predalien was like a draw, really brutal. I hope they continue with this saga, it's incredible. Great reaction!
As a huge Alien fan, there's a lot I can enjoy in this movie. The PredAlien, getting to see how quickly a Xeno infestation gets out of hand, and the Xenos sheer indifference towards who/what they kill. But oh man that lighting and shot choices kills me every time
The ending with Miss Yutani serves to show that this Predator technology is what lead Weyland-Yutani to develop the advanced technologies seen in the Alien movies that takes place in the future, ultimately and indirectly being the prequel that's setting up Ellen Ripley's story arc. The original ending even had the shot of the Predator gun fade into a Sulaco-style ship heading to the Alien homeworld where a group of Predators where fighting an Alien King! This is one of my favourite Alien/Predator movies (or the proper term would be XENOVERSE) for many reasons!
@@idiot_city5444 That's utterly false... AVP is literally part of the Alien movies, as I clearly implied with the information in my original comment, and this is also the expressed reason they had Lance Henriksen play Charles Weyland so they could connect AVP to Alien in a more tangible way. NEVER at any point have they been separate continuities! Now, Prometheus on the other hand may be argued as being a separate continuity from the Alien movies however, but not necessarily...
@@akabuyx4636 No, the entire thing about ALIEN vs. PREDATOR is that it CONNECTS BOTH TOGETHER! How do you even come to these ideas of it not being attached to Alien?
I like how the ending of this film established that Weyland-Yutani corporation knew about the existence of the xenomorph hundred of years before *Alien* and they were playing the long game to get their hands on one.
@@blackwidow7804 The AVP films were cannon when they were made, it wasn’t until the black goo film, Prometheus, was released in 2012 that Ridley Scott retconned everything for the worse.
Also fun little nerd fact - the Yautja (Predators) see the predalien (which they call the hybrid or the abomination in translation) as a stain upon their honor, something that shouldn't exist and as the ultimate loss and disgrace. That's why Wolf made the last fight so personal, he didn't just want to kill the hybrid (which he would do at any cost), he wanted to make him fucking suffer. And if I'd have to guess he probably also enjoyed it in their own feisty hunty Yautja way as it is a great honor to take something that powerful down and even if he didn't win, at least he knew he'd go out with a bang. Most probably literally. Also food for thought, lone xenomorphs usually molt into queens with time starting their own hive. Imagine if the predalien survived.. ;)
Iirc, there was an interview after the movie that specified that the PredAlien _was_ a "Young Queen" and was establishing her nest before becoming stationary.
Something a lot of people forget is this was a Christmas film, it was released on December 25, 2007, and I saw it on opening day, Christmas afternoon in a packed theater 😂 ! The theater went nuts when the blonde girl got killed, definitely the best human kill in the film.
In a behind-the-scenes video on the rooftop fight, you could hear someone (either the DP or the camera operator) complaining that he was getting some dark images in the camera viewfinder, only to be shot down by being told to shut up. So, that explains why the movie's lighting is atrocious.
On that as well, one of the film’s VFX artists found the original footage recently and is working with the original cinematographer on regrading it on their own time, to finally fix that issue.
@@johnfrancisgillman6806if you're referring to the YT channel *AL Productions,* I think he already did that. There's a Playlist of scenes from the movie that were re-colored and brightened to make the movie look at least 70% better. And they even made the whole thing available for download via a Google Drive and MEGA download link.
The "Colonel" was originally supposed to be played by Adam Baldwin, reprising his role from Predator 2. If you look at some of his monitor displays you can see the acronym "OWLF" which is the same acronym for Keyes' organization in Predator 2. Baldwin was not available due to scheduling.
The scenes with Wolf show how skilled a Predator can be, and by extension how green other on-screen Predators were. Scar, Celtic and Chopper from AvP were all basically young adults on their first real hunt, as was the City Predator in Predator 2. Only the Jungle Predator from the original film had real prior experience, and he died because he was outsmarted rather than overpowered. Whereas Wolf is a true veteran, the reason he came alone is because he is all that is needed to deal with the Predalien and its brood.
What i think explains it - is lorewise the first AVP is basically "teenager" Yautja that are looking to test themselves and prove themselves as hunters. Where in AVP 2 the Yautja is supposed to be a seasoned hunter - notice the amount of damage and scratches to his mask. Love it.
The movie "Predators" is MUCH better than this one. The story, the characters, the special effects, everything is far better. The cool thing is that we learn much, much more about the predators in this movie. More history, more tech, more predators. The "dogs" were very cool looking.
Every time there’s a new action movie my brother pretends to spoil it with the same joke, everyone dies. But this movie came pretty close to making that an accurate summary.

This movie is one of my guilty pleasures. I'm fully aware of all the weaknesses it has but I just love the Xeno and Predator clash in this environment. Always brings back that tagline of the game to me. "No matter who wins, we lose." It's simply so visceral in its execution and especially with the fact that nobody is safe. Normally, you can watch a horror movie and in 9 out of 10 cases it's like "ah, there's a kid, nothing will happen to the kid." (even Newt in Aliens was fine - all things considered) Or "that lady is pregnant, she'll be fine." Those bets are off in this movie and given the situation we deal with here, it is just so very fitting. In the OG Alien movie, Ash already warned us that the Xenomorph's structural perfection is only matched by its hostility. No way would a creature like that spare anything or anyone and I really appreciate that they reflected that in this movie.
Remember, this isn't the same ship that we saw at the end of AvP. The ship that crashed to Earth was a ship that launched out from the main Predator ship from the 1st AvP. You guys would know if you were watching the unrated AvP: Requiem. Wolf Predator from his home planet receives a distress call. He doesn't know he's dealing with an alien/Predator hybrid until he gets to Earth and puts on one of his fallen Predator's mask. Again, the unrated version. -OG
I've been watching you guys a while now, i just wanted to say I appreciate how often you upload and that you offer alot of great commentary on aspects of film making that I wouldn't have otherwise understood. I think alot of movies that are usually not well liked/loved benefit from the perspective that you both bring, Thankyou.
The shuriken kill is one of my favorite kills in the Predator films. Between that, the massacre scene in Prey, and the scene at the end of AVP, when the Queen is trying to grab Alexa, and, suddenly, Scar leaps out from the corner of the screen and then stabs her... 🤌
The ending was interesting, the implication that Humanity was able to advance our technology and move to space travel due to the Predator tech. It sucks we don't get a third movie which was going to shift to space and try to come full circle back to the original movie but with Xenos/Predators in space.
The unrated versions show the Predalien somehow got on a smaller Scout Ship that undocks from the Mother Ship's port side and heads back towards Earth.
Oh screw the haters. I loved this because it was entertaining lol. I don’t always have to be intellectually impregnated with philosophical theories. Sometimes I just wanna see explosions and grizzly alien deaths 😂
Fr, the hate is mostly just the herd mentality jumping on the hate train. This movie has a better sense of continuity and respect for what came before than Romulus
6:20 Fun Fact: The Predator in Prey (2022) was said to be from a different part of their planet, which is why he looked so vastly different and used different tech from every other Pred that we've seen so far
Absolutely, it makes all the sense to have different looks and physical features among these creatures! Just like we humans are different all over this planet.
In the lore for this universe, the difference in looks between the predators is based on what they've hunted, the clan they're in, and their rank as hunters. Some clans specialize in certain types of prey and tend to decorate their gear accordingly
All puns aside, this movie is DARK!! A lot of the kills are so graphic, even for these movies. Pregnant women being implanted with Chestbursters is still something that sticks in my memory.
once again I appreciate your honest opinions, I respect that you don't fully trash the film without aknowledging the positives, granted its not a great film, but still something fun to put on in the background. The Sound Design took a lot of inspiration from Predator and Aliens. Like the slow pan up the tree while the Hunter was treating his wounds, sounded like Predator in the jungle. Then when the National Guard went in, and started getting picked-off on the street, over the radio sounded like the Marines at the Xenomorph nest.
Wolf, The Predator you see in this movie didn't have to go all honourable when fighting the predalien at the end. 47:00 this is because Yautja (their species) deem predaliens as an abomination and can be killed hoever necessary and do not deserve the code of honour. But Wolf being Wolf he wanted to tango lol
I love the look on the predators face when he sees what happened to the ship on his own planet you can just tell he's thinking "Jesus those ass holes fucked things up again now I gotta fix this shit" as he's shaking his head also also cool they gave Rainbow Sun Francks a little cameo in this movie I think he did this right before he was cast in Stargate Atlantis still remember him from his job as a V-jay on much music years ago
How to recreate AvP: Requiem at home: Step 1. Zoom in camera on rock 'em sock 'em robots. Step 2: Shake camera as hard as you can. Step 3: Turn off the lights. AAAAAAND ACTION!
there was an uncut version of it, fixing more stuff from the scene. The uncut show us the scout ship leaves the Predator mothership as it passed by saturn and the scout ship leaving back to earth, possibly to hunt more potential prey they can hunt off. When showing off the predator homworld, it didn't right away show off the Predalien first, instead wolf saw the ship crash landed on earth, only then when he arrived on earth he use his fallen comrade mask to see that he is now against the Hybrid Abomination.
Thats the Wolf predator is the cleaner when something go wrong , cleaning to avoid humans know about them... Is like a CIA agent... An elite, He is hightly trained and experience to defeat several xenomoph at the same time, you can see the scar on his mask made by a prey...
Its sad how the yautja tribe is treated poorly due to due writers killing them when their literally the most skilled hunter species of all time like they get killed off by the most basic person with 0 fighting experience, predator 1 made sense cause he was going up against someone with the same military skills and tatics
Notice at the beginning the last name of the guy getting off the bus when the sheriff greets him? Dallas- implied that he is an ancestor of Captain Dallas of the Nostromo from the first ALIEN movie
Capcom released a stabdup multiplayer arcade game, AvP. 4 players, choice of 3 humans and 3 Predators, each w/ different attributes. This film brought so many of those arcade weekends back.
@@TwilightLink77 are you sure? I thought I remembered, 1 large male (Arnold), one female (ripley)Ripley, and one lankey male w/ a hat. And the three Predators were one Spear focused, one shoulder laser focused, and one wrist blades focused. People dont like this movie. But i honestly dont mind it. I think they did the right thing and kept the focus on the monsters specially Wolf as the main character. Lets be honest we dont care about humans. We want to see monster kicking it. We have alot of those movies with human centered plot. Here its different. The only complain i had is that it sometimes was way to dark. Positive side Wolf was a complete badass
Oh, we're going to get slimy, gooey, and moist with this one. I actually enjoy this sequel more than the first AvP despite the first movie being cleaner and looking higher in quality. I don't know what it is about this one, it brings the grossness and the grime that was missing in the cleaner original if that makes sense. I enjoyed the AvP movies for different reasons, they're both dumb monster movie fun flicks
Ohhh interesting, you definitely have a point there! Something about how polished the first one clashed a little with the true dangers of being stuck between these two iconic monsters! They both have something fun to offer!
It is fitting for this film to titled, "Requiem" since the term "requiem" evokes a somber, dark tone, fitting the film’s atmosphere and events. In a traditional sense, "requiem" refers to a mass for the dead or a musical composition for mourning, suggesting themes of death, destruction, and finality. It highlights the sense of hopelessness, tragedy, and loss that permeates the story.

That was an awesome detail to put in! Wonder what else they taught the civilizations!

The whip that predator had I read that it came from a tail of a xenomorph
Ohhhh that's a sick detail!
@OfficialMediaKnights and the predator was named wolf in this movie. The predators also have a ranking system based off of how many kills they achieve. Wolf was at the rank of an elite which is right before an elder.

But oh man that lighting and shot choices kills me every time
I saw this in theaters when it came out and i was squinting the entire time lol. Couldn't see a damn thing
AvP and Alien are completely different universes/continuity.
I might be wrong, but isn't AvP part of the Predator universe instead of the Alien universe? but cool idea/theory tho
Dragonball Xenoverse
How do you even come to these ideas of it not being attached to Alien?

safe and effective! 6 feet apart!
Saw this movie in theaters, the whole crowd laughed their asses off at that part. 😂
Movie was so dark they even named the playable predator in the AVP game 3 years after this “Dark”
I figured the PredAlien *_was_* a queen, considering its ability to impregnate anyone with half a dozen Xenomorphs.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim After all these years it is still dumb.

Something a lot of people forget is this was a Christmas film, it was released on December 25, 2007, and I saw it on opening day, Christmas afternoon in a packed theater 😂 ! The theater went nuts when the blonde girl got killed, definitely the best human kill in the film.
React to the film: DAYBREAKERS (2010), a very interesting, thoughtful and underrated dystopian vampire thriller, worth checking out.
YES! I second this! Daybreakers is an awesome addition to the vampire genre!
Ohhhh yes, we'll add that to our list! Thank you so much for the recommendation!

Definitely. It's one of the most interesting and original vampire movies out there.
Such an underrated movie…it came during the twilight hype with vamps but daybreakers was so so good
In a behind-the-scenes video on the rooftop fight, you could hear someone (either the DP or the camera operator) complaining that he was getting some dark images in the camera viewfinder, only to be shot down by being told to shut up. So, that explains why the movie's lighting is atrocious.
On that as well, one of the film’s VFX artists found the original footage recently and is working with the original cinematographer on regrading it on their own time, to finally fix that issue.
@johnfrancisgillman6806 is this true? If so that would be hard, I'm all for trying to fix previous mistakes (even though it doesn't always work out).

Funny enough, is that there is a Better Lit Version of that Fight scene here on TH-cam!
Love it.
By far “ Wolf “ was The Most Badass Predator on the Big Screen…them writers should have let him lived🤘🤘
The movie "Predators" is MUCH better than this one. The story, the characters, the special effects, everything is far better. The cool thing is that we learn much, much more about the predators in this movie. More history, more tech, more predators. The "dogs" were very cool looking.
Plus you can actually see whats going on
Every time there’s a new action movie my brother pretends to spoil it with the same joke, everyone dies. But this movie came pretty close to making that an accurate summary.

Predator Wolf is the king 👑
Every upload from you two is like comfort food 😊❤
This movie is one of my guilty pleasures. I'm fully aware of all the weaknesses it has but I just love the Xeno and Predator clash in this environment. Always brings back that tagline of the game to me. "No matter who wins, we lose."
It's simply so visceral in its execution and especially with the fact that nobody is safe.
No, thank god we never got anything more likes this.
"He's gonna need some backup"
Nah son. Wolf is the real deal. A LITERAL Apex Predator.
Think of this... This is exactly what happened to the colony in Aliens.
Sometimes we just wanna see things go boom! And that’s ok - Michael Bay
The problem is you can't see anything
But the movie is boring though? A couple of explosions won't fix that.
Fr, the hate is mostly just the herd mentality jumping on the hate train. This movie has a better sense of continuity and respect for what came before than Romulus
@@Renoistic Define boring, because a lot of others enjoy this movie just fine
6:20 Fun Fact: The Predator in Prey (2022) was said to be from a different part of their planet, which is why he looked so vastly different and used different tech from every other Pred that we've seen so far
Absolutely, it makes all the sense to have different looks and physical features among these creatures! Just like we humans are different all over this planet.
the one from the Prey looks very similar to the boss predator from Predators 2010
In the lore for this universe, the difference in looks between the predators is based on what they've hunted, the clan they're in, and their rank as hunters. Some clans specialize in certain types of prey and tend to decorate their gear accordingly
So that predator in prey is similar to our african man?
its funny how you guys react so similarly, thanks for the great content
All puns aside, this movie is DARK!! A lot of the kills are so graphic, even for these movies. Pregnant women being implanted with Chestbursters is still something that sticks in my memory.
except apparently they become uterus bursters in this
once again I appreciate your honest opinions, I respect that you don't fully trash the film without aknowledging the positives, granted its not a great film, but still something fun to put on in the background. Wolf, The Predator you see in this movie didn't have to go all honourable when fighting the predalien at the end. 47:00 this is because Yautja (their species) deem predaliens as an abomination and can be killed hoever necessary and do not deserve the code of honour. How to recreate AvP: Requiem at home:
Step 1.
