    You sound like me, Matt. I’m 79, and there was a time I had a bunch of books and a cabinet full of DVD’s. I too settled on Mike Austin’s “Secrets of The Game’s Longest Hitter” DVD. I played great golf while employing that methodology, and somewhere along the way I got sucked down the TH-cam rabbit hole. For the past 10 years I’ve played terrible golf, and old age hasn’t helped. I decided to go back to the Austin/Dunaway swing, which is how I stumbled across your channel. Your vid on how the hands work was an aha moment for me; it took me back 20 years to that old DVD. I’m old and have some physical issues, but I can still make that swing. Keep preaching the gospel Matt - tell your viewers to stop watching all that other crap and learn a swing that actually works. 👍

      Larry, thank you so much for the comment. Thank you for sharing your experiences with both the Mike Austin swing and what happens when you go down that TH-cam rabbit hole. Once you learn the Austin swing, there’s nothing more to learn in the golf swing in there for no reason to watch other peoples golf tips.

    Great advice, I've went down that road and you are speaking the truth

    I knew I had seen another Mike Dunaway video. It was a Sybervision production that showed Mike as a younger guy wearing blue and using the older club. I think I had it on VHS.

    Great video. Sounds drastic but TH-cam videos ruined my game for over a year. I must have had 10 thoughts in my head from 5 different people over the ball. Now the only video I watch is my swing at the range, just a quick check to make sure everything looks OK. Also I realised you can't buy good golf, the amount of equipment I was going through was ridiculous lol. If I had a bad round it must be the clubs not me 😆 Now I have MY swing I'm playing well and my back doesn't hurt ( from trying to turn like Rory ) 😂

    I agree with you. It was fun reading all those books and tapes but I don't think I got any better. I would have better off if I just stayed with the instructor I started with. It would have been cheaper.

    • @yoursimplegolfswing
      @yoursimplegolfswing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheaper indeed! Many people become convinced that there’s some secret out there and that if we just keep searching for it, we’ll find it. I fell into that trap myself. I later realized that most of the instruction that was out there was based on a faulty swing to begin with. Most of the tips out there are based on a faulty swing. The best way to fix a swing flaw is to learn how to perform the perfect swing properly to begin with. The fix for a slice is to perform the perfect swing properly. The fix for a hook is to perform the perfect swing properly. If you keep working on performing the perfect swing properly, you will get there, there’s no secret to it.

    Excellent advice. That's why Tiger said to stop watching YTgolf and take proper lessons and practice is the best tip he can give anyone who wants to learn how to play this difficult game. Cheers.

      And what happened to Tiger when he started swapping around for advice, changed what worked, go view his video's and in the end after everything, now he wants to swing and set-up like he did when he won 14 majors.

      @jakesdewet3567 Tigers original swing should never have been messed with. New swing killed his back.

    For TH-cam golf channels to stay alive they must continue to come up with new " golf secrets " most of which are total bullshit.

    • @yoursimplegolfswing
      @yoursimplegolfswing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As a creator, it's a challenge to keep the watch numbers up and attract new viewers to the channel. What I hope people see in my channel is that I am never pushing a new discovery or new technique, I stay consistent with my advocacy of the Mike Austin/Mike Dunaway swing. When I show something "New" it's really a new way of trying to explain how to perform the swing I consistently push. I try to create a deeper understanding of the same thing. What's really hard, and I've learned this from other TH-camrs and from trial and error, is that people won't click on a video with a title that says, "How to do such and such better." They only click when your title says "You Won't Get Better If You Don't Know this Secret!" There' are two things among all golfers. First, they all think there is a secret they are missing out on. Second, they don't want to miss out on whatever secret you have! It's the only way to get a click!

    Fulle agree, so much nonsense being taught, on big one is the ball position change for every club? We want consistency not complexity.

    • @yoursimplegolfswing
      @yoursimplegolfswing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not complex you only move the ball half inch for each club. You can’t hit down with your pitching wedge if the ball is up forward in the driver position. Also, you can’t hit up on the ball with the driver if the ball is in the middle of your stance. Even Jack Nicklaus who advocated one ball position still adjusted the ball position by changing the width of his stance for each club.

    • @jakesdewet3567
      @jakesdewet3567 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yoursimplegolfswing His stance change but ball position remains the same. Plus every situation call for a specific shot given wind, lie, pin etc. No proper golfer is so stupid to hit the wedge from the same position as the driver.

    • @yoursimplegolfswing
      @yoursimplegolfswing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So you agree, the ball position must change depending on the shot you need to hit in the club you were going to use

    • @jakesdewet3567
      @jakesdewet3567 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yoursimplegolfswing No I stated, that if you hit a normal shot the position remains the same for all clubs. If you want to hit a low shot with a 7 iron you move it back, golf is a dynamic sport and shots call for change depending on the conditions. Standing on a driving range and hitting the same shot with all clubs, the ball position remains the same. Go listen to Gary Player and others on why golfers at the top of their game slump? Swing change. Ball position fiddling, complexity.
