it is not your resume that got you a data science job. It is experience. You are from top universities from Canada and the states respectively with high GPAs and decent internships. You got those offers not because your resume was written in a particularly attractive way, but because you are a deserving applicant.

  • @aopoczko

Dear gawd, with that resume I'd go well beyond junior offers, at least in Poland.
I mean, sure, there are some companies that ask juniors about few programming languages, super diverse and detailed technology stack and 3+ yos of experience but it's just a sad joke paired with salary they offer (110% of minimal wage + coffee mug and free apples on Wednesdays lol). Unless, of course, you can live off of the prestigious feeling of being employed by such a marvelous company.
But with such immense real world experience and overall achievements I don't think there is anyone to compete with that on the market for junior jobs and even higher.
And here I am, started learning about "data" in Jan 22 and I can barely put a Udemy course on my CV rip 🤣
But hey, it's never to late to purse a different path, right? Riiight?
Anyways, thank for the insight, I really enjoyed it :)

Interesting video. My humble opinion is that it's a bit too cluttered and that hiring managers don't read such resumes in detail. When a hiring manager sees such a resume, they just see the LaTeX theme, glance over the bold words and think "oh okay wow, she seems to be good enough at what she does, she has a lot of experience for her age, we can take a chance with her".
This works pretty often but it can become a problem if there are many candidates with a similar resume. Don't fall for the ATS meme, in the end humans still make the decisions.

You will be able to tell based on the company size, (the bigger the more likely its ATS as they have loads of candidates). You should have different resumes to target different type of companies (e.g. by size or industry type). Smaller and mid-size organisations tend to love personalised and more readable resumes (well... at least here in the UK that is).
