  • The video aims to share the objectives of Rizal Law, the mandate of the law, the opposition encountered during its filing and the impact of the Law.
    The objectives of the law include:
    1. Re-dedication to Freedom and Nationalism
    2. Tribute to Heroes
    3. Source of Patriotism
    4. Moral and Civic Education
    As to mandate, the law requires all schools, colleges, and universities to keep in their libraries an adequate number of copies of the original and unexpurgated editions of 'Noli Me Tangere' and 'El Filibusterismo,' as well as other works and biographies of Rizal. These unexpurgated editions, or their English translations, are to be included in the list of approved books for required reading."
    As to impact, the Rizal Law, by mandating the study of Rizal's life and works, the law has helped to instill a deep sense of patriotism and national identity among Filipino students. Rizal's novels, which criticize the abuses of colonial rule and promote social justice, continue to inspire generations to advocate for freedom and equality."
    As to opposition, the law was deemed as:
    1. Anti-Catholic
    2. Violative of the 1939 Canon Law
