I’ve told this story a few times already but I’ll share it again. My dad met John in Vegas. John was shooting Craps and my dad came up to him and said “I’m a big fan. I just wanted to say thanks for all of the laughs and keep up the good work.” John asked my dad if he wanted an autograph or a picture and my dad said “Oh nay nay.” John then gave my dad a hug.
He did swear in his act. Just not often. He talked about going to Disney World where the guy in the Goofy costume tried to hug him, and he went "GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!"
I went high school with John. Malden Catholic. He was the most jovial , gentle and kindest person I’d ever met. He always Had us pissing our pants. I met him in Pennsylvania before he died. Sadly John left us too early. Rest in peace my dear friend
There are good, very good and excellent comedians; THEN there is John Pinette, who is THE KING, and does it ALL......God Bless You John, may you Rest in Peace!
It is a skill to get on a stage and make people laugh. Its even a bigger skill when you make people laugh without using vulgar language. He left his mark on this earth for sure and we all miss him!
Roy Ortega - Keeping up with this world is almost a full time job. He passed away two weeks after he turned 50, which is my age now. :( But we will always have his stand up, which can almost cure depression.
No wonder at the end they stood up and cheered, have watched this sketch many times and I still laugh. We could really do with comedy genius like John now, pure magic !!
Many years ago my brother had tickets to see John and was not able to attend the performance due to a sudden tragedy involving the loss of a close friend. One of my brother's friends was able to convey the details of the situation and John called my brother to offer condolences. Many years later I was able to thank him at a performance in my home town. I really miss this caring, talented human being. Belly laughs are the best!
They don't make 'em like they used to. I can't tell you how many times I've seen his sketches, memorized them word for word, and still I laugh every single time. He truly lived his calling and I'm grateful he still blesses me today by putting a smile on my face. I needed that today.
I first heard him 5 years ago as I was driving across country. I can’t tell you how many times I had to stop the car because I was laughing so hard the tears were flowing. RIP brother.
Im a firm believer, those that can give laughter not at the cost of, or mocking others, (that's called love) will truly 'Rest In Peace'. I'd say, John's got it made.
I had the great fortune to see him live years ago. First time I ever heard him drop the F bomb was live. He was so clean and so hilarious, such a shame we lost his amazing talent for making people laugh.
I still remember quite vividly the first time I saw this performance on TV. I was flipping stations in the middle of night, as I was having trouble sleeping. Must have been around 3 or 4 in the morning. I came upon this by total accident, and my God, I nearly fell off the bed from laughter. One of the greatest stand-up performances I have ever seen. Totally and utterly hilarious. Brilliant!
I miss John so much. I am so blessed to have seen him on stage. I will forever remember that evening. Thank you John for such an amazing evening. You left us far too soon.
March 23, 1964 - April 5, 2014 An American actor, Broadway performer, and stand-up comedian. John Pinette was a treasure easily one of the best comedians ever.
My favourite comedian! He was always a big hit in Canada at Just for Laughs. RIP John.... we miss you! Awesome impressions too, especially his Michael Jackson. Excellent singer as well. Pure magic.
He really worked so hard for years to lose weight, and he was wildly successful. His last interview was with a husband and wife who have a radio talk show in, I believe, L.A. it was probably a week or so before he passed away. Even THEY didn't recognize him, he had done such a great job losing weight. Next thing we all knew, John was gone. 😔 After one of his performances here in Cleveland, as he was walking past, I said, "John, thank you." He was still walking by, but he looked over his shoulder, and I said, "sincerely." He turned around and said, "Thank you." A lot of comedians are kinda similar to each other. The great ones are unique, and always will be. John was a great comedian. 😔
God, I miss him. He was one of the funniest people that ever lived. Because of him I break out in laughter when someone asks if I want an extended warranty.
I take a break between watching these videos, but I always return. The pause between viewings allows my mind time enough to pick up on lines that weren't there before. That is the brilliance of this wonderful, master comedian with a fabulous singing voice, I turn to John when I feel like crying and he never lets me down. RIP, John Pinette.
John Pinette was a wonderful comic, Just wonderful in his approach and style. Very Funny in all aspects. I will miss him a load. Thanks for the giggles John!
There are four comedians that never fail to make me laugh. George Carlin, Ron White, Robin Williams, and John Pinette. They all are quick of mind and see the humour in their lives as they go along. I try to see the humour in my occasional stupidity and it always makes my day better.
I count myself lucky and blessed that I got to see this talented man live. He is immensely missed. Truly one of the greats. Very down to earth. While waiting on line outside he shook everyone's hand and thanjed us for coming. What a huge loss.
Just another voice saying we miss you John. I first saw you in Hairspray the Musical (on Broadway), and then you did a question and answer session with us after the performance. Your warmth, your wit, your wonder, all shown bright that day; and continue to brighten my days years after. Thank you.
One of my big regrets in life is that I didn't get to see John Pinette live on stage. The week that he was supposed to come to my town then I'd found out that he passed away. He is incredibly funny! RIP John. I'm hoping the heavenly host is enjoying you as much as we all did down here.
The man was a comic genius to say the least, but his big heart will live on in history. For all the laughter that brought us to tears. Gone but never forgotten. R.I.P
To John's family and friends. Its April 2018 and i've just found this Comic Genius! I wish i could have seen him live. You Must have been so proud of him. XX
I was so blessed to have been able to see him live. It was when he sid the extremely hilarious I'm Starving (I think) routine where he went to Europe. The italian restaurant part had me literally screaming. "Timmy's dead. Pass that over here! I always eat when I'm sad." It was a year before he passed.

On April 5, 2014 the world - and for sure the comedy world - lost a great talent in making us laugh and love him for his point of view and his wins and shortcomings. So true what you said in your comment. No foul langage, simply pure comedy.

The hesitation before that last line. He waits, waits. Then BAM, the knockout punch: "I don't even see the Speedo!" That is true genius!
What I Loved most about John Penette was he always looked like he had as much fun as the audience, if not more
Omigosh, I love when he smiles at his own jokes. 😂
