My mother was from Austria very close to the Yugoslavian boarder The food you make is so similar It really takes me back as my mother is no longer here I will be making Marillen knodel and poppy seed strudel

My grandmother was from the village of Kast. My grandfather was from the village of Lasinja. My grandmother made so many of these dishes. I am proud to say many of us learned from her!!! I found this site through Facebook people who follow you. Some of them belong to the Croa./Serb. communities online. Thank you for sharing. My grandmother is no longer here to show me how to cook and bake anymore, so I am so glad to have found you to remind me of all the many tips my grandmother use to do.

I would agree, although I have celiac disease and can no longer eat anything from wheat flour. But King Arthur is the best US flour. I just wish I could eat it. Please? Please? Please? I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE wheat flour and real bread! You do not realize how much flavor wheat flour has until you give it up and try to eat something else instead of it. No, it does not taste anything like bread, and bread definitely has a flavor.
I've never seen the filling dry like this, wow.

THESE STRUDELS REMIND ME OF THE ONES MY PARENTS USED TO MAKE.( father a sugarbaker), YES YOU CAN PUT IN THE FREEZER, LINE FOIL PAPER WITH SARAN WRAP.
I BROUGHT THEM BACK FROM AUSTRIA THAT WAY. PLANE CARGO AEREA IS COLD , LET THAW OUT OVERNIGHT IN REFRIGORATER. MMMMMMMMM-DILICIOS!
