It's time to expand the LEGO City and get started on the phase 2, which involves adding 2 new tables and extending the raised platform to fit in a second train line and more modular buildings. Only things didn't exactly go to plan, and my lack of measuring things before I order them has finally caught up with me...

Idea: Is it possible to do some terrain work between the bottom and top layer and make a cave like entrance with the Batmobile entering.
I feel like little hidden spaces and areas of secret interests make cities even greater !!

Hey Kev, do you have any nearby woodworker friends? A buddy with a table saw or circular saw could trim that large board to exact measurements, so it fits flush to the back wall, or the front edge of your table. And what if you connected the new board to the existing 'plank' board on one edge? Then it wouldn't slide on you. Fancy = glue and wooden biscuits. Simple = a layer of duct tape.

    • @blockpartyuk

Simple sounds like something I can manage! Not sure what this "friends" is that you mention though! I'm a 40-something autistic nerd, I know about 6 people, and most of them are related to me!

I seem to recall from other videos (AFOL TV) that curving track across roads is possible but involves non-Lego 3D printed parts and isn’t ideal in terms of configuration of junctions or fitting with base plates. Could you have the road turn onto the new section but continue to track straight, having a level crossing, and then under the ‘staircase’ to the top level? Your plan might work as you’re not planning to go across a road but worth considering. City is looking great by the way! Can’t believe how quickly the space has filled up.

I’m literally just about to board all of my loft out and put a load of shelving in. Our loft is a fair size it’s 5meters x 3meters. Hopefully it will make a nice Lego space to house everything.

I'm still deciding whether to make my subway into two underground levels, just to make the stations seem further away from each other... My airport will occupy almost half of my layout on the surface... Big planes, big airport. Three subway trains ready for action, with a fourth planned for a future upgrade to the system.

Happy accidents, I would lower the thin table if wheels can be removed. Then place in the middle, build a a river or lake and harbour it will allow the buildings to be the outer frame.

Hi Kev, I really want to thank you, I have been following your football manager account for a while now because you are just so much fun to watch, but unexpected you creation of this new account came along with myself falling in love with lego again. As a kid my favorite presents were getting a new lego set and building them with my nephews. At the moment I don’t have the budget myself to buy legos (renovating a house) but your videos are something I look forward to, on a daily base. I really enjoy seeing you both being excited every time in a shop, a convention or on a reveal day and hope to one day meet you on one of these occasions. Thank you both for all the smile on your videos (on this channel and on your regular channel)
    Best regards,

I always feel awful when I make a mistake, but in the last few years I've finally realised the phrase "we all make mistakes" is not just a truism, it's a guarantee. And some mistakes by others are stratospheric compared to my dumb oversights. Anyway, Kev, we are all human, and we all make mistakes.

Do you build module sets on to their bottom plate then mount it to the mils plate? Or do you pull the top plate on the mils and use the sets bottom plate in the mils top plates place?

    • @blockpartyuk
      @blockpartyuk  18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Baseplates can’t be attached to other plates or baseplates. So the mils plate is built onto the baseplate, then the build goes on top of that. There’s a tutorial here on the channel

Hi! I would get rid of the bookcase , because in this table layout you blocked it and won't be able to use it in a comfortabe way. Do the extension on the other end to gain more space for a bigger beach area. I don't know why you want a tv on the wall, it is not very good for the eyes to watch it from about 60cms in a long term...

It's getting there, plus I'm sure most of us have made mistakes like that, I certainly have!
One option for the lights is something like Philips Hue, you can just leave the light switches on (and there are smart plugs you can use for the stand up lights).
Those straight metal brackets (ones with 4 or 6 screw holes and short screws) might work for joining the wood, if there is space to fit them on the underside where it overlaps the table. I used some to join two Ikea tables and they hold quite sturdy.
Here's a really awful attempt at what they look like !! :
