The editors got a bit carried away with the upside down effect
and the early 2000s hip-hop music lol
@@kalebm9302 probably because it's from early 2000s lol
I see you tj focus st city car driving huuh
Just a bit. That was seriously annoying.
Lmao that and the music made it kinda funny
This review perfectly encapsulates chav Britain back in the 2000s. I kind of miss it in a weird way.
@@OEightHours Nah it's fine, drive the MK3/4 and you'll see lol
Out of the 25 or so years that I've spent watching this show, I've learned that a hatch back is all the car you'll ever reasonably need. They do everything. And this one, still looks new 10 years later. Cheap to run, safe, easy to drive, reliable, practical and fast. What more do you want from a car?
dont know about cheap to run. ive got one aha. i can do easily £150 in fuel a night i drive it.
@@XxSniperHazzardxX123 Im looking to get one as well. Have you had to do anything with the cylinder liners?
Cheap to run🤣
@@Stefanatzf I own one aswell and i would say, the Liners will be fine aslong as you dont push too much power out of it and you dont rag it crazy or overheat it. Mine has 112000 miles and has not made any issues with the liners or anything tbh. Only had to do one alternator and some clearcoat things :)
The face lifted version looks a lot more modern than the pfl version here. Maybe cause it’s the version the modern classic RS is based on
Hard to think this is 10 years ago
+Ian Townsend do you came from the future, by the time of your post not even 5 years have passed
+anemite2 This footage was back in 2005...

Ian Townsend i come from the future of 2018
The infamous boy racer/chav car. I love the fact that it came in colour which can only be described as "fake tan orange". Someone at Ford had a sense of humour. A really good hot hatchback - until Ford finally made a 4 WD version of the Focus. Only one big downside of the car is there's no left foot rest(so long motorway journeys aren't as comfortable).
Can it be a because of a RHD car? I have a diesel LHD one and there is a foot rest on the left.
1:17 perfectly sums up this car haha
+Louis Abrahams I thought it was 1:45
St is a nice car
Even better in abso orange
Even the music choice is better. I love Top gear U.K.!!
What is the song at 3:20?

Good music choice especially for the Focus ST
Thanks 👍👍👍
This man AND this video sold me my new Focus ST.

Just Retired :(
I actually bought one, (ST not the 'Stang) I couldn't agree with you less. It is one of the best combinations of refinement and speed. Resonable fuel economy, fun around town, and when the mood takes you, an absolute speed demon, throw it a twisty mountain road and it will thrill. The EcoBoost is a feat in itself, not an ounce of turbo lag, perhaps it takes longer exposure to fully appreciate the brilliance of the Focus ST.
I have this model, bought it little less than 1 year ago,no problems what so ever. There was 95 000 km test drive before me:)Summer time so damn fun to drive with snakeing roads, you can trust it doesnt pushing out of the road at tied corners. And now winter time its great also, its warming inside very fast even -30C and with the right tires you can enjoy it"almost"like summer:)Love the car and love Top Gear:)
+kpk76 engine size and is it petrol or diesel ? thining about buying one thanks
Its 2,5 L 5 cylinder turbo,and petrol
I love the editing and music in this, it's so early 2000s it hurts.
The first Top Gear review I've ever seen that's so positive. Completely.
Makes me wonder...
I have a 15 ST3... Get one, they are so unbelievably fun!
Being from one of the "colonies" I had to look up ASBO.
Now when I watch this, I laugh even harder.
Basically the equivalent of an electronic bracelet and community service work.
@@RatelHBadger it's what they give to kids both tag and asbos 😂
I absolutely haaaaate the dark filters they always use
I never notice
It's called vignette
Yeah,cringe.
You mean England?
My 2007 ST-2 is still going strong as a daily driver. Got the mountune kit and eibach pro springs fitted last year (I highly recommend it for some sub 6 second 0-60 times!) :D
This review made roll up to the nearest ford dealer and buy a brand new ST3 in black back in 07, I didnt even haggle for a deal. Loved the car, apart from the disgraceful fuel economy never managed better than 18mpg in town.
It's a juicy car for sure but who cares.
It's shocking I know. Especially when you turn on the air con.
ROONEYYYYYYYYY
sucks.
Why does he say that

@@neelparmar6690 oh okay 😭😂
"It's got adjustable steering, you can make it heavy or light or normal and to be honest, that's just something to go wrong". Cracked liners and chocolate driveshafts are certainly more of a worry in 2020
Never had a problem with driveshafts, only go wrong if you happen to be a dickhead a floor it in 1st gear everywhere.
As for cracked liners think how many of these were made and how many have suffered this… a tiny percentage
I love mine to bits. It’s just so much fine but yeah drive shafts need to be changed every so often
@@TheBladerunner73 Had mine for a year now almost. No driveshaft changed that i know of i last coupple of years. But I see it happening in the facebook groups
As an update on this comment, I had to replace the driveshafts on mine at a cost of £800 last year because it became almost undriveable ... and then replaced the whole car for a Mondeo diesel ... because 2022
ive gone from vauxhall to ford and ive never looked back! got a fiesta st so not as powerful but still nice and nippy
Downsizing sucks. Who wants a 2.0 4cylinder in the new ST vs a 2.5 5 cylinder in the old?
Old engine far more tunable also.
Dave Johnson plus the Sound is gone and turned into a ricer fartcan sound.
***** I understand engines are getting more sophisticated and efficient, but Id miss the sound of a half V10
***** I live in the UK & petrol is expensive, but I still don't want a 4 cylinder engine.
*****
That is very true.... Too bad most 4 pot's sound like crap. I'll give exception to Type R honda's and maybe some 4 pot alfa 's
Dave Johnson new car Pro's is cheaper than a Golf Gti faster as well and nicer to drive Con's smaller artificial sounding engine and a tad ugly. Old car pro's nice looking great sounding engine con's mate of mine owned one and he said its quite thirsty and he owns a new one now and said its better on his wallet and still just a fun but he does miss the 5cyl sound .
For a compact car the Focus is actually very good.
I had a Focus Sport until some bastard in a stolen Audi wrote it off. It was the most reliable car that I've owned so far too!
But is there a compartment to store my celery?
the glovebox of course XD
I own a blue st3 and I love it!! even at 15mpg haha
+Will Palmer how does one achieve 15mpg in a car like that?
Sean Pierce town driving and led boots
Bought mine two days ago. Got to work today averaging 15.3. So hard to stay out of boost!
Haha I know the feeling
Feel your pain mate sitting on 19.3 atm too much fun to hit the boost
Died at the Burberry filter
Very Chavvy
I used to have a Focus ZX5, with a turbocharged 2.3, it was so much fun to drive. And I will definitely echo Jeremy here when I say that it was the most dependable car I have ever owned.
I just bought one! *happy*
Ultrabenbooyah Ford STD
Whats your fuel consumption like? Consider this or a 2013 Fiesta ST... similar money.
The Focus is a proper car, whereas the Fiesta is just like a toy - hot hatch. The 2,5 Turbo engine roars like a monster and gives out 300 HP with just a chip-tuning and a good ehxaust system. Consumption is approximately the same as in a 330i BMW.
Engines are great. Volvo 5 cylinder. Sound lovely too. Other than it's just a focus everywhere else.
...which means great handling and stability. And besides, it's widely available with the correct number of doors and so looks much better than any Focus made for the last 8 years!
S/T stands for Street Technology and R/T stands for Racing Technology. That badge all depends on the type of equipment put into the car; brakes, suspension, turbo etc.
They really got carried away with the soundtracks in this episode lmao
+ I miss this show and this guy. it sucks that it fell apart
The old three just got too big for their boots.
Go watch The Grand Tour on Amazon now. It’s literally an even higher budget Top Gear with all three original hosts
I had a test drive in a new ST, and i liked it. You do miss the rumble of the five pot, and it hasnt got the same grunt on lower revs. But it shifts very nicely, and has loads of power. Mountune is working on a performance upgrade for the ST, so there is still some performance to get out of it. You have to compare the new ST to the Golf GTi (easy to live with, civilised hot hatch) and the Focus beats the GTi with ease.
The sound guy thought we were in Fast And Furious
Ford Focus ST MK2
Made in Germany!
So are Aston engines now.
The old ST was so much better than the newer one.
I own a 2014 FoST with 75,000 miles its as good as when I bought it with 20,000 miles. With a few modifications it never disappoints.
My driving school had one of those in orange! And I learned to drive in it ;)
It's one hell of a car!
Having owned the MK3 2012 then a 2017 MK3.5 all black both Mountune messed with. Then recently bought a MK2 as a toy out of curiosity really. Also Mountune tampered with have to say although the old girl in places is showing her age a little work in progress. Prefer the MK2 by far handles like its glued to the road the 5 cylinder lump with a good exhaust does make you smile. Test drove it loved so bought it. But the mpg is 🤣. Drive it with respect as if your 90 and with cataracts in both eyes 24-25 mpg. Nail it 17.4-19 mpg 🤢. Also tuned they have to run on the Moet type high octane not the E10 rubbish. All in all is it worth it simple ANSWER yes! Always put a smile on ya face and will keep up with most of modern stuff 3x its value and 10+ years newer. They're just not as expensive to maintain now being near on a classic. Trust a true and experienced petrol head out of experiences. Wish I'd bought one years ago!

***** well for all practicallity you can get the slow regular focus which does not use premium fuel, tad bit slower but for driving in the city is much more practical... haha fuel economy... go look at a ford f150 raptor thats bad fuel economy
Yep thats why I'm here.
The fuel economy is not as bad as people make out. Don't know what everyone else does to theirs, but even on really short journeys mine never drops below 25mpg. On proper runs, it's more like 32-35mpg even driven quickly.
dungareesareforfools Fuel Economy? What's that ;)
Got one of these about 8 years ago, never looked back, still love it

The best looking focus st ever!
Milkshake instrumental just knocks me right out 😩💀
Still using my 56 reg Focus that gets me to work and back. Black with the ST stripe. The actual prototype for the ST500. Still a great car to drive. 👍👍
I love my 2013 Focus ST!!
So do I!
its just great to watch old videos and renew the memories.
Bruh that rooneyyyyy kills me every time 😂
Yes, it's going to be fitted with a 2.0l Ecoboost which is a turbocharged engine, they haven't released detailed specs yet but my guess is that it will be the same as the Escape, you could expect a factory total of up to ~240hp you could probably tune it to go higher, or get a bigger turbo for it.
1:18 always make me laugh
I had the 1st cousin car to this gen ST (Volvo v50 T5) and I loved it. Super reliable 24 mpg average, lovely T5 noises and rock solid reliability. Wish these came to the states 😢
I will own one of these one day, I love this car and my dad bought one to use on track and it’s made me really jelous
I bought a new 5.0 two years ago and the other day i looked at a new focus st and found myself wishing i would have waited for it instead. Not that i dont like my stang, i love it its an awesome car best mustang ever made. But that st is so badass and it has four doors and gets good gas mileage.
Its the same colour as a air hostess!!
I got my Electric Orange ST on the back of this review way back in 2006......LOVED it!! One of the best cars I've ever had and really miss it....:-((
I think it would be funny to have an ST with a personalised plate that says "ASBO". Few would get it, but for those who did...
theres a guy with an orange one which is A**SBO
the * are the letters I don't know

I've been proud ST owner for 4 days now and I love it, haven't paid a cent so far but I'm sure they are happy to take it back to the dealer after a week when I get my licence suspended.
Still driving mine! 😍
MK2? Nice!
@@Chrislav7 since sold it and got a C63, awesome car but still miss the ST..

hilarious choices of music. almost fell over with laughter when my milkshake came on at 00:58.
The 5 Cylinder sounds so dope lol I would love to see how it compares to the 2.0T 4-cyl.
Stock vs stock, the Mk3 ST250 beats it. Tuned, the 2.5 wins. The 2.0 is a dreadful engine.
@@grahamek86 the 2.0 is one of their most reliable if not their most reliable engine platform lol 😆 and makes decent power in the ST. I certainly enjoy driving mine at least. But to each their own.
@@lord0fpants As a tuner, I saw them regularly. I refuse to tune them now because they shit piston ring lands for fun. They're by far not reliable. The old B5254T3 had a problem with cracked liners, but that was due to poor cooling and top speed runs causing a massive thermal imbalance. As a general engine, it was absolutely bullet proof. You could throw 400hp at the stock bottom end and it would take it. You smile at the 2.0 Ecoboom funny and it cracks a piston.
@@grahamek86 yeah I feel that. Mine is stock and I aim to keep it that way. I actually like the power from the stock tune I think it’s pretty decent for a stock tune. Forged connecting rods and crank is cast I believe. I’ve thought about adding power but It’s my daily so I’m tryna keep it reliable.
Not sure what happened to your comment about the stereo but I've had no problems with the system, increasing the bass on the equalizer helps to an extent if you'd like a bass heavy sound. But I've never found the system lacking, Perhaps underwhelming when compared to the Xplod series of speakers that Sony puts out, but in no way detrimental to the ST experience. At least in my opinion.
but is it better then the 95-96 Chicago Bulls?
What a daft question? If anything... it looks like it was made from bits of Dennis Rodman.
Base model £17.5k.
2 gen later the base of the new ST is almost doubled the price...
i miss jeremy :(
Bought an orange 28K ST-2 5 door on friday, omg this car is awesome. Power, brakes & handling in equal measures, you'll be smiling like you did at your first born.
Not a fan of the front end design. Other wise nice.
The ST was released in 2005.
The new mondeo is gorgeous

I'm buying one of this tomorrow actually !!!
it is all gloomy and dark and cloudy, england is depressing
This is one of my most favourite cars. I really like the focus st's. Mk2 or mk3 doesnt matter. Same for the rs models
volvo engine???
Dante Fajardo yes. Same engine that's in the Volvo s60R
Back when ford owned volvo or a stake in them at least
Poody Slomo no ford just used Volvo because they couldn’t be arsed coming up with an engine themselves. It’s when mass produced products started really. I mean look at today’s cars, total shite.

Why isn't there a 2-door in the US?
The new rs might be coming to the US soon
Alex Grant Yes, but only a 4-door model has been previewed. Would like to see a 2-door like the RS500.
cause its designed to sell primarily to europe
guy named arin 2 doors does not strictly appeal to Europe. Would be nice to see it in a 2-door model in the US.
well there actually is not a current 2 door version of the current focus. only 4 door, 5door hatch, and 5 door wagon. and there was a 2 door focus in the us (2010 focus coupe), but it was a completely different car and it was terrible. but the three door hatch back SVT from 2000 that's about the closest thing your are going to get in the US, and you can pick it up for like 5k.

I LOVE THE FORD FOCUS ST SOOO MUCH. I turn 17 soon and this is my dream first car. Forget the RS, this is almost affordable for a 17 year old if they are lucky.
I could have afforded one when i was 20 but i didn't care about cars like i do now. Now i can't afford it unfortunately.
In the old model, yes. But you stated 2L 250hp, which is the new 2012 model, which is not available in sedan. The 2011 model is 2.5L 5 cylinder 225hp
Unless my math and estimates are wrong the reason this car isn't sold in the US is because it would likely not sell because of its cost. Our Focus is an entry level 'daily commuter' on a budget car.
The cost of this car would put it up against a Camaro 2SS with 426 HP V8 with all the goodies, a Ford Mustang GT Premium with a 412 HP V8, and a Dodge Charger R/T. Thats just the muscle cars it would be priced near, not even considering all the imports that people would settle on for far less.
Still wanting that gorgeous 5 cyl

when he said that his focus was the most reliable vehicle he's ever owned i literally fell out of my chair laughing. my mothers focus was reliable, until it hit 100k miles, then it basically had a switch flip telling everything on the car to fall apart.
leaky thermostat housing, vacuum leaks, clogged fuel filter, rear hub spindle and control arm broken so bad they welded together, bumpers falling off (plastic anyways), radio quit working, door locks broken/jammed, and broken spark plug wires.
2:34 its three wheel in the rain. that is good!
If you are in europe! In the US, the family cars (with the exception of the Fiesta) are made here in the U.S.. One of the cool things about Ford is that they tend to build their cars in the same regions that they sell them!
I just got a 2017 Ford Focus ST, and I'm impressed.
