As a very very beginner of vector art/design, I am proud to say that this is my second complete design after I drew along with your video! I learned so much during this process, thank you!
This video is awesome... I really like that in this video you perform several of your most popular path process's several times. Which nails down each of those path concepts/tasks, the simplicity and the complexity of each of those tools. Thanks!
Thanks. Yeah practicing these steps over and over really helps in grasping exactly what they do and why they're used. Once you have an understanding of this, you'll be able to create graphics of your own. That's the point of these tutorials -- to show how the software works, but when put into some context. Thanks for watching!
No idea how you even know how to come up with this to get those cool looking shapes but I admire your skill! Gonna take a while to get good at inkscape but you're helping alot!
Thanks Nick! My school taught me to use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, and as I migrate more and more away from proprietary programs to more open source options like Inkscape and GIMP and Scribus, videos like these are extremely helpful. It's a labor of love, but it's very much appreciated.
Nice!! Thank you for the tutorial. I would suggest you to keep a miniature of the finished logo in a corner of the video. It would help to follow the process. Maybe theres enough space on upper righ one. However, thank you!
Thanks. I've had this suggested a few times and I think it's a good idea, so I'm going to start doing this soon. Just have to figure out how I'm going to do so logistically without it interfering with any of the contents of the video.
Thanks. I intend to redesign the rest of them, but I just have to wait until I have enough free time to do so. Between client work, TH-cam videos, blog posts, etc. I'm usually very busy. Hopefully soon though.
Thank you. Those fragments are actually an error in the program (I think) and shouldn't be there. I've learned about this because of how long I've used the program and how often I've run into problems because of it.
hey nick, im new to inkscape and im doing pretty well following along with your tutorial except where you move the crosshairs (at 8:55). Mine wont snap like your did. Ive played around with all the snap buttons so im wondering if there is a setting i dont have right. thanks
Hi, thanks for all of your videos, its great that you share your knowledge freely. I was wondering how did you learn to use programs like inkscape? And i was also wondering if you could make or direct me to a video that explains how all the path functions work and gives examples on how and when to use them. Could you also do or direct me to one that shows how to properly save or export something for use outside of inkscape?
I actually learned how to use Illustrator first, many years ago. Then I found out about Inkscape and was able to learn it rather fast because of how similar it is. I also learned how to use it by watching video tutorials. HeathenX's tutorials were how I learned at first.
Any idea how to make inkscape or gimp scale properly (to where you can see the menus, etc.) on a 4K resolution, even at 150% or 250%? its so tiny and not usable. Thanks
I have 2 Problems: Between two pieces I have this super tiny white line (only see it with two strong diffrent colors). Seond: Although all Snapps ON, the little plus sign to rotate a piece doesn't snapp anywhere.
hello nick, I want to ask you .. what a nice font to create a logo that looks simple still elegant . how to choose two nice font that looks harmonious and cool for a logo ? give me an example ( Ex. To make the typography of the logo) thanks.
Probably. I've noticed snapping glitches with Inkscape sometimes. What usually works for me is opening a new document and copy & pasting everything into it and trying there. Usually does the trick.
Hey Nick. Great tutorial, thanks so much for that. Sorry quick question & hopefully not stupid. When I've clicked on snap on custom node & try to rotate to the right it just snaps back 🤔
circle tool not working on windows 10!!! I select circle, then ctrl & shift but some strange rectangle shows up instead! I think ink-space is messed....
Hi Nick, thanks for that tutorial. I know the other one. Your´s much easier, but the other is good also. I don´t want to make it bad. I like your tutorials and want to thank you, that I can improve my Inkscape knowledge. Every week I´m looking forward to a new one. What I did with the white segments and the shadow is that I copied it, rotate it 90 deg and moved it to the next segment. Here I snaped it to the "spiky" knote (custom knote). So I have 4 equal segments and save time. I´m using Inkscape 0.91 and here is something different. Why are you using Ink 0.48? Is there a special reason? I also like your explaination during the tutorial. It can help to understand what you are doing sometimes. You get better with each tutorial. kind regards Michael
As always, very nice tutorial. What I did was almost identical to you Michael. I created one complete segment (color gradient, highlight and shadow) and grouped it together. Then for each of the remaining three segments I duplicated, rotated 90 deg, used the align tools to place (left/right, top/bottom) relative to the original circle and changed the color gradient. Maybe I was only able to use the align tools due to the shape of my segments was slightly different from Nick´s?
Thanks, your method works as well (and is probably faster.) I'm using Inkscape 48 because I like it better for a variety of minor reasons. I wrote an article about it if you want to know exactly why: blog.logosbynick.com/design/why-i-dont-like-inkscape-0-91-an-honest-review/ Thanks for watching! Glad my videos are of some help.
Hello Nick. When I design it, I have a small gap between two crossers. Can you explain this problème. If you want, I can send you an email to more explain it. Thank guy. Paul.
4:50 The mistake there and how you solve this is more important than you think for learning inkscape.
Thanks for this tutorial.

am I the only one thinking that this is what IE, Firefox and google chrome's logos would look like if mashed up?

That is the coolest one I have seen so far!
So awesome! Thank you so much for your tutorials.
Glad to help!

Hey Nick, i just started using Inkscape and my god you're such a great help keep it up!
You make this all look so easy. lol
Thanks for these videos. I like both the Inkscape and the Gimp videos!

Awesome, thanks for watching!
beautiful !!!! great man !!!!
awesome! Thanks Nick
thank you! BTW, I like your icons for inkscape. will you make extended version for other tools of inkscape?
Thanks. I intend to redesign the rest of them, but I just have to wait until I have enough free time to do so. Between client work, TH-cam videos, blog posts, etc. I'm usually very busy. Hopefully soon though.
You explain this very well. You should also consider doing characters for 2D games for example.
Thank you so much i learned a lot form you you are the best
nice one Nick
Thanks
Use the basic shape to make special. Thats good thanks
GRACIAS POR LOS VIDEOS!!!! SALUDOS DESDE CHILE
Thank you
:D
4:41 don't confuse just do it :)
You are great man. Thanks. What's all that you deleted when you broke apart? Why is there? How did you know there was some?
Thank you. Those fragments are actually an error in the program (I think) and shouldn't be there. I've learned about this because of how long I've used the program and how often I've run into problems because of it.
Oh I see. That's why I always get crash.
Brilliant tutorial, thank you :-)
Try "arc" gtk theme, it's flat and grate.
Its a very nice theme. I'm using it with i3 and Cinammon on Manjaro
Amazing! Thanks

Great Tutorial .
This Glitch at 3:38 is still in Inkscape. Is no one reporting this to get rid of it? I mean if you don't know that this is not visible

Thank you
Thank you. You are amazing . When I finished the tutorial The shape is dotted between gradiants of colours ? where is my mistake ? Thank you again
how u do that ?. you had created so many logo bro. can i also create this logo easily by following this tutorial...?
Terima kasih Nick...

Thanks for making this, it helped me alot but how did you make the background black ? i am new to this so i dont know much.
Thank you for the tutorial, but I can't snap the crosshair to the corner of the graphic in 8:56 . Is it a Snap cusp nodes error?
Probably. I've noticed snapping glitches with Inkscape sometimes. What usually works for me is opening a new document and copy & pasting everything into it and trying there. Usually does the trick.
Thanks.
Hi, today were are going to make a simple logo in only 1000 steps, no big deal!
This is awe
some, thank you!!!
Website seems to be down !!
Like it!
Hey Nick. Great tutorial, thanks so much for that. Sorry quick question & hopefully not stupid. When I've clicked on snap on custom node & try to rotate to the right it just snaps back 🤔
Thanks buuyon. I was starting to think it was just me :(
I can't get the rotating point to snap at the cusp. And after I eyeball it and rotate the shape, I get the same result as you do.
circle tool not working on windows 10!!! I select circle, then ctrl & shift but some strange rectangle shows up instead! I think ink-space is messed....
appreciate it god bless
can you do a tutorial on your logo please?
I did a time lapse video of it already if you want to check that out: th-cam.com/video/8MV8kTVAT5s/w-d-xo.html
Which company logo is it ?
Wow you are a genius man.

Yeah I think your method would've been a lot faster, but for some reason it didn't even occur to me when I was creating it. Nice catch!
Thanks
So good :)
Excellent, I like me video
It's a great job
He has a gift.
Thank you!
Amazing !!!. Thank you, Folk..!!!! :D

My fill and Stroke tool and ALign and distribute close each other down, how do I get them to appear at the same time?
I think it looks like chrome!
