Ray Charles was Stevie's idol. He learned to sing listening to Ray (and others) and considered Ray Charles to be the best oiano player in the world. Ray was so proud of Stevie. Both geniuses. Both gifts to the world.
Stevie wonder kicks but with this remake. It would be sad for us in the blind community to lose this individual who is the musical genius. We have lost a lot of people over the years. Including prince. I hope that Stevie stays around for a good long time. He is one of my favorite singers, songwriters, and activist.
Stevie has had to say goodbye to a lot of friends, Ray Charles, Luther, Michael, Whitney, Prince....you could see the affection and respect he had for all of them and for sure they all loved him too.
z00ts00t77 very sad. George Michael was a great singer and I have heard his version of that song. He also covered another star. It would be sad for us blind individuals to lose Stevie wonder. We have already lost Ray Charles in 2004.
Stevie Wonder is fantastic but without Ray Charles blazing a trail back in the 1950's and paving the way for many of the great soul singers of the 60's ,you might not of heard of Stevie Wonder .Ray Charles wrote a lot of his own stuff also , Ray Charles can stand shoulder to shoulder with any singer to have walked this planet !
unglaublich das is musik leute musik muss leute berühren und ray charles war ist und bleibt der beste seines fachs steve wonder ray sind einfach HAMMA respect peace & love Andrej
He standing in the end just made me cry... he really put his feelings in the songs he sings, but this particular one is outstanding. Go, Stevie... and Ray, you´ll be always remembered!
You're so right! I believe Stevie attended the same school for the blind as Ray had years before, so I'm sure he knew about him even before he (SW) started on his career. What is amazing is how appreciation transcends sight--it's the joy you can get from listening to a genius like Ray Charles.
Happy Birthday Stevie!! May love, health and peace stay with You.And may your wisdom and neverending talent will stay on Earth forever to touch our lives with Your Grace. We still have so much to learn from You! THANK YOU for All You've given. WE LOVE YOU
Today is the nine year anniversary of Ray's death. He and Stevie were close, they both attended the same school for the blind, one was inspired by the other, they performed together, and now he's bidding his dear friend farewell through the song that made him famous. RIP Ray Charles Robinson born September 23, 1930 died June 10, 2004.
I am 18, and i listen to a lot of the old skool, cos it just BETTER! but if that is not what you call real music, emotion, soul and magic! I dont know what is! THAT WAS........there are no words to describe! ABSOLUTLY, 1 BILLION % AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im not talking about music and composition, im speaking vocally, i believe stevie wonder really know how to sing, he has studied singing , ray charles singed from the inside, he is obviously a genius, but stevie wonder really knows how to sing
I saw Stevie in concert in Melbourne, Australia in October 08, and I am well and truly alive and still on a high after seeing him.I am determined to see him again when he comes out to Oz again,(as he promised)we were dancing in the isles. He is more than words can describe.
whats noticeable about stevie is, that his voice and energi hasnt changed since the 80's.. he's still got it. Maybe it's because he must have been the only music superstar around that time that never did drugs
Oh wow. Loved the Charles track but cant find a hifi copy. First look for a decent cover & Stevie does that. He (& the Stones to be fair) just nail grooves. Its amazing.
I'm back to listen to this song yet again, I was so absorbed in this song and getting my funk on i almost fell down the stairs!! Peace out brothers and sisters, peace out!
this must be the best tribute show all of them are so moved and still full of joy when it comes to singing such perfect songs from a legend for a legend
@broadwayboricua I'm not denying Sinatra, et al their due, I grew up on them, just like Stevie and all the others. But my problem is when people say that Wonder is just a composer and nothing more,it makes me wonder(no pun intended) if this person has ever even heard him sing. I stand by my opinion, and I got many others, fans and critics alike to back me up on it, that Stevie Wonder is one of the greatest singers of all- time.
No matter what us whities think we can not do it as good as our black brothers. They are born with music in their soul. And try as we may we aint never going to be as good as them when it comes to music.
@MauricioCasteglione My being a Stevie Wonder fan doesn't make him one of the greatest singers of all time, his music does, his grammys and other musical acolades does, his hundreds of hits does. I and millions of others, fans and music critics(people who know good music when they hear it)are in agreement. And regardless of what you think about Elvis and Crosby, Stevie IS one of the greatest of all-time. More than an opinion, it's a bona fide FACT. Try listening to him for a change.
Ronnie Mondrey Grammys mean nothing. Does Irma have one? Finally, a mere 37 years after her initial record... There's little sonority in SW's vocalizing. Now, I call pretty music music but people call it the blues.
Stevie Wonder is pure genius. He has musical creativity that neither Elvis, Bing, Sinatra, nor anyone else could touch. That's not opinion, my friend, that's a fact. How dare anyone take a bunch of boring lounge singers, and claim they got anything to offer that's better than Stevie. Elvis and Bing were ok during their time, but even then, they plenty others who were better.
Ray Charles was Stevie's idol. He learned to sing listening to Ray (and others) and considered Ray Charles to be the best oiano player in the world. Ray was so proud of Stevie. Both geniuses. Both gifts to the world.
I don't know if that's true.
..but I want to believe it is
Thank you.
One of my favorite Stevie performances.. RIP Ray Charles...
Here in 2020 . Chills and goosebumps still. ✊🏾🔥
@The Jay Real here in 2021 🔥
When I saw that harmonica at 1:34 I was like oh it’s going down
every time i see stevie perform i get chills and almost tear up....he is such an amazing performer...you can hear his smile in his voice...i love it!

A legendary performance. I always come here to feel good when times are tough.
Absolutely true..
Depression relief!..
Seemingly effortless, but really a work of art. Stevie Wonder is an irresistible
presence on stage and a perfectionist in the studio. Unbeatable.
He's one of the last living legends of our time. I'll be so sad when this man leaves us.😦
Stevie has had to say goodbye to a lot of friends, Ray Charles, Luther, Michael, Whitney, Prince....you could see the affection and respect he had for all of them and for sure they all loved him too.
z00ts00t77 now you can add George Michael to that list who died on Christmas Day. George Michael loved him too.
Kayanda Eddings I know it's sad isn't it. George did a great and haunting version of They Wont Go When I Go, he had such a voice.
z00ts00t77 very sad. George Michael was a great singer and I have heard his version of that song. He also covered another star. It would be sad for us blind individuals to lose Stevie wonder. We have already lost Ray Charles in 2004.
Are you saying he the last one legend.
One of our last greatest
American hero. A national
Treasure. God bless stevie.
Stevie Wonder, as phenomenally terrific as always.
This is the best cover since Elvis'.. Ray was a genius RIP!
ray was the first "blind sensation" and he'll always be the best performer of all time.
This man is a legend alongside Ray Charles. My idols😍

Brother Ray is smiling... God Bless Brother Ray. God Bless Stevie. God Bless BET. God Bless TH-cam.

RIP Ray Charles!!!
Its sends chills through the spine.. Love it.
Stevie is amazing. So was Ray.
Notice Bruce Willis mouthing "Wow!" at the end? It excites me to see the legendary action hero of the "Die Hard" series feel impressed!
I swear to god they stopped him right when he really started getting into it... Damn.
Yeah I agree I mean you can't stop a man when he's in the groove It's like a rule of music😎🎶 or a rule in my book of being funky🎶
Who stopped whom?
Without Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder may have never existed.
im not talking about music and composition, im speaking vocally, i believe stevie wonder really know how to sing, he has studied singing , ray charles singed from the inside, he is obviously a genius, but stevie wonder really knows how to sing
how you can dislike something like this?...
What can you say after this. Stevie has played with the greats. thank God we still have someone left who knows real music.

There’s Mozart… Then there’s Stevie Wonder
Très bel hommage ! Merci !
Well put. How dare anyone who ridicules these 2 artistic geniuses.
Thank you I could not agree more - everyone brings his/her own uniqueness to a song and that is what music is about - passion

When Stevie performed at Michael Jackson's funeral, he was on the verge of tears. Here he looks happy as can be!
INCREDIBLE!!!
