Well, that was F'in great!!! Thank you. Lounge room recording but you played so well together. Good stuff!!! I loved seeing George's boy playing on that live gig and being blown away by Prince. LIfe goes full circle....
Thanks man, we‘re glad you enjoyed it. The hall of fame video is great! Me and my son love that clip.. especially when he throws his guitar into the stratosphere… people are still waiting for it to come down! 😂
lovely ! thank you gents. Younger Mstr Ryan's guitar work in emulating the one an donly Prince, was superb. Prince's showmanship at the Rock & Roll Hallof fame was and probably still is one of the greatest solos in history, and to master some of his riffs, especially hitting the "F", where he looks at Tom Petty - just incredible. Hats off to you both.
@@archintalpade6880 Thanks very much for the nice comment, we appreciate it a lot. We love the hall of fame clip - I think everyone’s still waiting for his guitar to come back down! 😂
Haha. We love the hall of fame clip. I think everyone is still waiting for that guitar to reappear! 😂. Would have been funny to replicate that somehow.
Many thanks. We’re very glad you enjoyed it. We love the hall of fame video with Prince , the best bit is definitely the end. My son has got the lead guitar skills, so we decided to give it a shot.
It is great fun to play. We used a backing track for bass and percussion, helped us keep the flow. We’d love to see your version! Let us know when you post it.
Thanks for the feedback. Nice to hear that you liked the guitar tone. It is a bit of a conundrum whether to go clean and articulate or driven and silky with lots of sustain like the original. For learning purposes it is better to be articulate, so we can hear the nuances in the lead playing, which is why we went in that direction. Thanks again!
Definitely not a bad job at all. I think the issue that most folks have with Prince is that when anyone tries to imitate his playing or singing, it always ends up very short. But when you make a Prince song your own (or solo) your own, you can stand out more. This post is not meant to throw any shade btw. But part of prince’s flair is his technical ability, while looking like it is completely easy while he is falling off the stage backwards.
Hi there. Many thanks for taking the time to provide a feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the video. I agree that Prince’s musicianship and showmanship are other worldly. We just aimed to have some fun playing the guitar parts together at home. My son’s lead guitar skills are excellent and are still improving all the time. Excited to see where he ends up 😊
@@gowwar491 Hi there. We were using a Fender Hotrod deluxe amp on the clean channel. Pedals were Keeley Compressor Pro, Ibanez TS9DX and a Zoom MS-70 CDR with flanger. We were playing at low volume in the apartment, so it was difficult to get a driven / distorted tone out of the HRD, hence the lead tone in the video is very clean and articulate. If we did it again, with hindsight, we would go for a more driven sound on the prince solo section, and use a much better modulation pedal than the Zoom.
@@henokagb2155 We’re very glad to hear that it inspired you to keep on learning guitar. Real live guitar playing is a great thing, can’t be beaten. Keep the skill alive and keep working at it my friend!
@@nazarenkodenys Yes, we weren’t happy with the tone. We live in an apartment, so cranking the amp isn’t an option. Maybe we should invest in a new distortion pedal. Glad you liked the play and feel though.
@@mrjacobhorton The whole recording thing was a bit casual and spontaneous , jam session turned TH-cam video… considering that, we were happy enough with the sound to post it. I guess you could call it organic and genuine😀. Thanks for the nice comment 😊
@@nurtaiimbergen6668 Hi there. Yes, you’re absolutely right. We weren’t happy with guitar tone, ideally we needed to crank the amp a bit more… but it is a really loud valve amp. We live in an apartment with neighbours 😅. In hindsight we would have recorded it in a different location. It was just a casual Jam with my lad, so we didn’t think about it too much! Maybe next time we’ll get a better guitar tone. Thanks for the feedback.
Hi there. When playing lead guitar, you’re generally not trying to create a verbatim musical copy of the original solo / artist. Just get the guitar scale down and immerse in the feeling and groove of the song, so it can be jammed to some extent. That is where the skill lies, so very proud of my lad’s abilities!
Very respectable cover of a near impossible Prince masterpiece.
