Western Coal & Coke #1 is a 4-6-0 “Ten-Wheeler” built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1913. It pulled trains through out the WC&C system, until being retired in 1964. It was restored to operation in 1970 for the Mid-Continent Railway Museum with CNW 1385. In 1991, #1 was rebuilt with a wooden cab. And operated at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum until it was in the museum’s shop for restoration. Today, #1 is undergoing major boiler work for it’s rebuild.
Out of my childhood ❤
Whatever whistle she’s sporting it sounds amazing

They are going to restore WCC 1 AFTER 1385 is completed
2:21 3 chime from either B&M or PRR
I was told at the time that the Whistle was borrowed from KGB&W 49 which is on their property.
@@redeyestein1 actually did not know that was 49’s whistle. There’s a video shot in either 81 or 83 with 49’s whistle being used for sure.
@@redeyestein1 might be the lowered PSI on that boiler
@@redeyestein1 sounds like 1361, 152, 7470 and 1551.
6:36 strange 5 chime. Defiantly sounds way different than what it wore in 1989
I sure wish WC&C #1 could run again someday... At least 1385 will be back shortly
It will. Once 1385 is done first
